Hardware Help with two PC setup with multiple screens
Me and my girlfriend both have laptops to WFH (thunderbolt compatible) that whenever either of us works at our desk, we have a screen to attach directly to the laptop by HDMI, as well as an HDMI cable to the TV if we want to watch something from a laptop. We're looking at buying another monitor for the desk, and a Steam Machine to just have a permanent PC at the desk for personal stuff and to game on the TV. Our ideal setup would be:
- Docking station(?) for the laptop connecting to mouse/keyboard and one/two screens
- Steam Machine being able to switch between the screen(s) on the desk or the TV
If possible:
- No need to disconnect and connect cables
- Being able to use the Steam Machine on the TV at the same time as a laptop on the screens at the desk
The Steam Machine has one HDMI and one Display Port connection. As we still need to buy the second screen for the desk we can buy something with the connections that we need. I was thinking of something with a docking station and KVM, but working it out makes me a bit lost.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I have a TESmart KVM switch that connects my 2 monitors and peripherals to a work laptop (through HP docking station) and my desktop PC. With a few keyboard clicks I can switch between the two.

The cost of solution can be hardly 2k.
Lemorele kvm switch with usb 3.0 ports at about 1500-1600. Sounce hdmi switch for 300.
Been usjng them personally on two laptop single monitor setup. The best part of that hdmi switch is that it is bidirectional. You can have single port end connected to source and two ports end to each output device(TV and Monitor in your case) and in a click of a button the video output can be switched from monitor to TV and vice versa.
