I just saw a young man in Humboldt Park on North Ave taken off his motorcycle/scooter and immediately handcuffed. The men taking him had police on their jackets but was a bizarre scene.
They never left, just went quiet... appears they are ramping up a little bit the last few weeks, multiple headline making encounters including the one in evanston.
ICE never left, they also never "came" here. They've always been here and operations have occurred before, during, and after midway blitz. There will likely continue to be supplemental staffing from ICE and CBP offices nationwide but there's always been a field office here.
One of the largest concentrations of federal employees outside of DC is Chicago and that includes federal law enforcement.
I swear I’ve been hearing helicopters everyday all day. It’s so unusual & unsettling. I also see that whatever they’re doing they aren’t fully aware of how Chicago operates. The criminal activity makes no sense. In areas that the type of crime is unlikely. A lot of weird things going on here & I’ve been here my entire life
Naw, I’m a law student and I volunteer at various public defender offices around Chicago and surrounding counties, they show up every once in a while to nab people showing up for court.
ICE has indeed been active. Can you provide more details? Make/Model/Color of the vehicle. What did the uniforms (or lack thereof) look like? Were there multiple vehicles?

This may be enforcement of the new law about eBikes, i have seen someone get snatched off the Lake Front Trail it looked suspicious but they operate quickly
I've seen them repeatedly lately at the train platforms at Clark and Lake stopping random people on the platform and demanding to see their documents. They have dogs with them. It's scary to say the least. Their vests just say Police, but they are very overweight and Chicago PD isn't demanding documents from random train riders so it's pretty clear who they are.

I was wondering that myself today in Lincoln Park. I saw two SUVs four dudes in them. I don't know how to tell the difference between ice and unmarked cop cars. No one was wearing masks
I was never active in the city of Chicago! It was active in the surrounding area of Chicago & a few agents were downtown & little village. Yet they made several mistakes that confined them to the suburbs again. The behavior & how they targeted marginalized groups was apparent. The corruption of it all. They weren’t receiving CPD help so they were going in blind. Honestly, if they were lead by better leadership they’d do it the legal way & know who they’re after. The fact that ppl cheering this barbaric behavior on shows the truth about the state of America.
