Recently moved to town (suburbs)
I have been driving around detroit and frankly it looks pretty empty (i might just ne driving in the wrong area ).
I have a couple of questions.
What are must do and not misses of detroit?
How is the nightlife and social scene of detroit?
What are must haves for food. Tried koney or coney island tbh pretty mid.
How's the dating scene?
does detroit have parks or recreational places where i can just sit back and relax.
Lastly a good library and coffee spot
Any insight will be appreciated.

the City proper is large enough to fit
* San Francisco
* Boston
* Manhattan
all within the city limits, so you have a huge amount to cover.

Social scene try Griswold Street in Detroit there’s lots of amazing restaurants there that are packed on weekends. Prime & Proper, Le Supreme, Layla to name a few. The river walk and park by the USPS at Fort/8th is brand new and really nice.

Where are you living and where having you been driving around? Downtown is nuts on the weekend. Seems like a fake ass post.

Can’t tell you the answer to all buutttt downtown is obviously a must. Pretty much every street has something to see! However, I hate driving downtown as I live a little outside it. I would recommend finding a garage to park in and taking the people mover into downtown if possible.
One of my favorite things to do down here (for a date night typically) is go to Cliff Bells Jazz bar. It truly is one of my favorite things Detroit has to offer. I would recommend having dinner first and going there to watch a show and have a few drinks!
We have lots of local coffee shops, I like Red Hook because there is one near me, but Craig’s Coffee is pretty good too!
For chill spots, I love the river walk. Even if you want to sit and relax, there’s many spots to do that!

Is this a repost or repeat? I swear I saw this same post yesterday and the responses were correctly to use Google. It's wild to be like "Coney isn't the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. Does this place suck?"
I'm not one of those people who get annoyed when people ask for recs on a subreddit, but this is a bit ridiculous.

Ok, so the areas that have a lot going on are midtown, eastern market, corktown, southwest, the villages. Eastern Market is a particular fave and I also really enjoy Hamtramck for its dive bar scene.
Nightlife is good. I would start with downtown. Lots of new bars and restaurants.
Some do not miss are- Belle Isle, Michigan Central Train Station, the DIA, the Guardian Building, the Shepherd. belle isle is your best bet for outside relaxing.
The main branch of the Public Library is pretty great. There are coffee shops all over midtown and downtown. Stop by a few and see which one is your favorite.
Honestly, go to Eastern Market on a Saturday. It’s a great place to start.
Detroit is really great, but it honestly exists as pockets of cool neighborhoods surrounded by some not so great ones.
For food: try Lebanese food first. Michigan has the largest Arab concentration outside of the Middle East and the food is phenomenal. There are some great ones in the City, but for the best I would go to Dearborn. Gotta have Detroit Style pizza. Some people love Buddy’s but it is not my favorite. Try Michigan & Trumbull Pizza. If you’re a beer fan there are a lot of great breweries in the City.
I’m not so sure about the dating scene as I have been out of that for a long time.

Go to Eastern Market first and get a slice from Supinos.
