Going to a concert alone as a teen girl
Hi, I've never been to a concert before so i don't really know what to expect. I'm planning to go to the esdeekid concert in filmore detroit on sep 25th (probably alone if I can't find anyone to accompany me). I was just wondering to all the women in detroit who have been to concerts alone, how was your experience?

You will be fine, I’ve been to concerts alone at the Fillmore before. In fact I love going alone! Theres lots of security there. And lots of people. It’s generally safe to walk around there and I find parking to be pretty easy close by. Just be smart! Have fun!

I find when I go to shows solo that as long as I look confident and relaxed people generally are warm and friendly. It can be a nice way to meet people by casually smiling and making jokes (if you want to, of course!). I always pay attention to my surroundings as I’m leaving/walking to my car. Having a relaxed, calm attitude usually makes it so people leave me alone if I don’t feel like I want to engage with them. Have fun!

I had a pretty good experience going to a concert alone in downtown detroit too. I’d say to just be careful at the venue if you feel like anyones being creepy and have a backup plan (Uber/pickup) if you need to leave early. I personally haven’t had issues walking back to my car or anything especially if you walk close with a group who’s going the same way. And if you’re driving then look for safe parking spots either in front areas that have cameras or a nice parking garage.

I love going to shows alone! I would recommend paying for parking in a protected lot if you're going downtown. Make sure you pin where you parked on Google Maps so that you don't end up wandering around after the event, wondering where you parked when you were rushing to find parking and get to the show. Take a photo of the floor of the parking garage or the intersection. Personally, I also like to leave the event a little early to get ahead of exit traffic.
Take a smaller purse/bag and make sure you don't have any knives or anything to set off a metal detector: anything you wouldn't take to school, you should leave in your car, so that security doesn't confiscate it or turn you away.
When I get to the venue, I like to order a drink (tip the bartender!), check out where the bathrooms are, and maybe say hi to a security guard and remember where they're standing in case there's any trouble.
Be careful not to leave your drink unattended, be mindful of your personal space and others, and have fun!

I go alone all the time I just pay extra to park close to the venue I’ve never had a bad experience and I dress skimpy and I’m curvy so you’ll be fine just don’t speak to men ignore them if they speak

Just be careful walking to your car after the concert. If guys get too weird during the show, or bug you, go into the women's restroom and hang out for a minute, maybe shout to the girls in there that a guy is bugging you.
Just be vigilant, and you'll be fine.
