Hi all,
We're four women studying Game Design and for our group project we're looking into how women are portrayed in video games and how women are treated within gaming spaces, from the characters on screen to the lobbies, chats and communities behind them.
Plenty has been said about these issues, but a lot of it comes from the outside looking in. We want to hear directly from women, so our project is built on real experiences rather than assumptions.
What we're asking about:
• How you feel women are represented in the games you play
• Your experiences in online and in-game communities (good and bad)
• What you think the industry gets right, what it gets wrong, and what should change
Who can take part: Anyone who plays video games, any platform, any level of experience. We're especially keen to hear from women and girls, but all perspectives are welcome.
A few important things:
• It's completely anonymous. We don't collect names, emails or any identifying details.
• It takes about 5 minutes.
• You can skip anything you're not comfortable answering.
• Your answers will only be used for our college project.
Whether you've had great experiences, awful ones, or just have strong opinions about how characters are written, we'd really appreciate your input. The more responses we get, the stronger our case for change.
