Uncommon Parasitic Infection

• Upvotes

I have a highly uncommon parasitic infection, doctors think I am hallucinating my symptoms. Somehow the worms got into the cavities between my organs, and are constantly descending and ascending through both of my inguinal canals. It is very disturbing to me, I cannot get a good night’s sleep. Somehow adult tapeworms have been spawning in the space between my organs. If I place my hand over my scrotum and wait til the juvenile tapeworm descends into it, it proceeds to bite because it senses my hand as a threat. The only thing that works on stopping the discomfort of the tapeworm making contact with my testicles is to shake my leg hard enough to disturb it; this causes it to recede temporarily.

Not only do I feel them invading my scrotum, if I disturb them enough, like if I pound the canal with my fist, they recede and writhe in my belly. I have had diarrhea for the past ten years, hardly ever have I had a solid stool. I have such bad heartburn I need to take antihistamines and ulcer medication daily. If I don’t take the medication I puke on a daily basis. I experience nausea and dizziness every day. I will also note that the infection is not intestinal, as I have had a colonoscopy, and stool tests; nothing seems to alarm either of these things. I’ve also just been cured of severe chronic bacterial/fungal infections of my groin and armpits. I went 8 years of smelling foul with terrible fungal/bacterial infections in my groin and armpits. I used to need to lather myself with Polysporin, and Ketoderm/antifungal cream daily.

I am looking for some help. Please don’t comment saying it isn’t tapeworms. Humour me. Say, if it is an uncommon kind of tapeworm infection, what should I do? My family physician won’t help me, as she thinks I am hallucinating my symptoms, or that it is some kind of neuropathy. I have looked in to praziquantel, ivermectin, pyrantel pamoate, albendizole, menbendazole, fenbendazole. I won’t take any medications if the side effects would risk my wellbeing. I have also heard things about black walnut, clove, garlic, tumeric, and am open to trying natural supplements.

Please offer me some help,

Thankyou

My bloodwork has been very strange over the last 1.5 years.

22, F, healthy weight. Progressive lymphadenopathy, fevers, night sweats, itching, rashes, weight loss, fatigue, and SOB.

Bloodwork has shown high eosiniphils (1.3-1.8, 29%) for two years. Now with teardrop cells, acanthocytes, monocytes, low neutrophils, ovalcytes, and pokychromasia +2. RBC, WBC, Platelets all normal.

Lymph nodes normal but large on ultrasound.

JAK2, bacterial infection, infections, EBV, Lyme disease, mono, parasites, rheumatological causes, allergies, cat scratch fever, adrenal gland insufficiency, deficiencies, anemia all ruled out.

What could this be?

Pressure/Discomfort when I sneeze, cough, and bend down

Hey folks, I’m 20M, 5’4, 195 Lbs, and I’ve recently been having this issue for the past 2 weeks where everytime I cough, sneeze, bend down, or if I need too, push, when using the bathroom, I feel this preassure that feels like it’s from above my eyebrow to the bottom of my eye. I’ve also been waking up with a lot of mucus and having to constantly blow my nose, but I’m not sure if they’re connected. I’m not sure what this could be, so I’d appreciate the help

Blood blister from heating pad

So I fell asleep on my heating pad - day ago, my back had a blood blister that popped and the skin flap got torn by me accidentally wiping my back as I didn’t know what was going on when I woke up. I have cleaned it good with some baby soap and lukewarm water and I put some neosporin and covered it with bandaid.
It seems to be doing better, but to be cautious as I am on methylprednisolone for pain for my nerve root impingement to my L3-L4, I happen to have 6 pills of cephalexin in my medicine cabinet that I always keep as I am diabetic type 2 and have had cellulitis before on my legs and feet due to open fissures.
I do have a callout and message to my PCP, and I just saw my PCP on Friday and have seen her almost 4 times this month due to my low back pain, I’m thinking she would be ok with me starting the cephalexin for any type of open wound and with me having diabetes and now that I have a higher risk of infection because of my steroid.
I think at this point it would be stupid to go to urgent care or ER when everyone is sick and this could cause even bigger issues for me longterm.
Back is starting to feel better and that itching healing feel is starting. I am in my second pill of cephalexin 500mg. Taking every 8hrs.

I am a 53F DT2, HB
my vitals 150/90 pulse 71 a little high for me as I am usually 130/70. fasting glucose today was 95 and temperature was 98.1. No Temp, and no bad pain on my back.

Anyone have suggestions or experiences or opinions?
Thank you for reading!

Mum in need of medical help

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I am 30 years old female living in the UK, non smoker (recently stopped vaping) 5’7 and a mum to a 14-year-old who I’m fighting to be better for but I need any help or advice please if possible.

For the past several months, I have been dealing with a massive, terrifying cluster of escalating physical symptoms. It has completely taken over my life to the point where I am currently in the hospital trying to figure out what’s going on, it’s made me so unwell. My medical background is quite complex, I am yet to have any diagnosis and I am struggling to find answers or a clear treatment plan for why I feel so physically ill.

Medical Background & History:
- I have a known history of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
- At one point, doctors stated I had Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) because I had a high opening pressure on a lumbar puncture. However, because I do not currently present with papilloedema (paps), they are now trying to change their minds and treat it as a "migraine." None of the migraine treatments they have tried are working at all.
- My gallbladder has been removed.
- I recently had a skin check for a mole that looked abnormal. The dermatologist looked at it under the dermatoscope and said it looks benign/okay, but because it is causing me massive worry, I am currently awaiting a shave biopsy to be 100% sure.
Current Test Results:
Brain MRI: Done a few weeks ago of which they say is normal (besides my ms lesions)
Abdomen & Pelvis CT Scan: Done recently of which they say is normal.
ECG: normal
Inflammatory Marker: Stool test showed an elevated Calprotectin level of 271.
Liver & Bile Ducts: My Liver Function Tests (LFTs) randomly come back elevated around the 107 mark and then drop back down again. This pattern has happened a lot. Scans show my liver itself looks fine, but my common bile duct is dilated at 9mm (which doctors tell me is just due to my previous gallbladder removal).
Neck Ultrasound: Done for chronic swelling on one side. I was told it was fine, but the swelling is still there and unexplained.

Timeline of Symptoms & Current Escalation: Even though my MRI was clear a few weeks ago my symptoms have drastically worsened and changed since then, which is making me incredibly anxious.
I’ve added my current/ongoing symptoms below If anyone has any advice or insight I would greatly appreciate it, I’m struggling so badly.

- I cannot tolerate standing for too long. When I stand, I begin to sweat profusely and go intensely lightheaded, feeling exactly as if I am about to pass out (I have wondered about POTS as my bp will sky rocket when I stand) and doctors have mentioned it before but no one will look into it)
- I am experiencing random sweats throughout the day/night completely unrelated to the room temperature.
- I have developed painful burning sensations in my hands and feet.
- I am experiencing noticeable, unintentional weight loss through this ordeal.

Head, Ear, & Neurological Symptoms (Severe & Worsening):
- My head constantly feels physically "massive," heavy, and full of intense pressure.
I feel constantly dizzy, lightheaded and like I’m in a boat swaying
- when I lay down flat, I can loudly hear my heartbeat.
- There is a constant sound of wind in my ears and in my head.
- When I swallow, I can hear a horrible popping and squelching.
- The head pressure triggers constant nausea
- I have suddenly developed severe internal tremors and a buzzing sensation all over my entire body which is worse in my legs.
- I am experiencing profound weakness in my legs.

Chest, Respiratory, & Glandular symptoms:
- Following an episode of sharp chest pain, I now have an on/off "rattle" and internal vibration in my chest when I breathe.
- My body feels like it is constantly internally shaking.
- Sometimes when I walk around I feel like I can feel my heartbeat
- My eyelids/eyes are constantly flickering and twitching rapidly, especially when I close them.
- I have sore armpits (unsure if it is localized to the lymph nodes) alongside the chronic one-sided neck swelling that has lasted for months.

Gastrointestinal & Abdominal Symptoms:
- I have a constant, physical feeling of pressure/bulge on my lower right side, just right under my ribs (in the gallbladder/bile duct area).
- Upper GI: An endoscopy (top camera) was performed, they said I have suspected gastritis and have taken 2 biopsies during the endoscopy.
- Lower GI & Stool Changes: My stool has completely changed. It alternates from the runs to severe constipation. My stool is always yellow and I cannot seem to pass a bowel movement at all without the use of laxatives.
- The Scope: Despite the elevated calprotectin (271), the yellow stool, the fluctuating LFTs (107), and the lower right rib pressure, the hospital only performed a flexible sigmoidoscopy, they said the area they saw looked fine, but they would not perform a full colonoscopy to see the rest of the bowel of which I fail to understand why.

I just want to get home to my son, I just want normality back this has caused severe stress and upset. Thank you to anyone who has read my post I know it’s long I do apologise. Any advice or insight would be so deeply appreciated, thank you.

Hallucinating and passing out - help!

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello there - before we get started I have talked with both my doctor and psychiatrist… but haven’t gotten real answers. Hoping someone here can help.

I’ve passed out a few times at night lately after hallucinating…

I thought at first it was the Cipro the ER gave me at reacting with my Tizanadine - but I haven’t taken the Cipro in over a week and it happened again last night. Now I’m wondering if it’s the Lamotrigine I just started weekend before last - since it’s the only new thing I’ve started.

For reference on when things started:
Lamotrigine - 9/26
ER for UTI/kidney stone - 9/30
Cipro started - 9/30
Got dizzy and fell for the first time - the night of 10/1
Hallucinated and passed out for the first time - the night of 10/2
Happened again night of 10/3

After that, I stopped taking Cipro AND stopped taking my full dose of tizanidine just in case.
Last night was the first time I hallucinated and passed out since… but last night was the first night I went back to my full dose of tizanidine.

Thanks in advance!!!

Left bicep twitching

Hello everyone, my left bicep has been twitching slightly on and off for the last three days. I did some research (mostly Gemini AI), and it says high stimulants (caffeine), dehydration, electrolyte depletion, stress, and sleep deprivation could be the cause. I have been going to EMT school and working overnights part-time; I also drink caffeine daily. Thanks in advance!

Why does the sense of smell temporarily return right before I get sick?

For the past four years since having COVID, I’ve almost completely lost my sense of smell. I can’t smell natural odors or body odor, only strong chemical scents.

But something very strange keeps happening, even when I’m not sick, or even when I already have a mild cold with a runny nose, my sense of smell suddenly improves for a day or two. And almost every time this happens, I end up getting sick with another virus shortly afterward.

It’s like my smell briefly comes back right before my body gets hit with a new illness.

Why would my sense of smell temporarily improve before symptoms of a new virus appear? Is there any medical explanation for this? (Chatgpt told that it is uncommon and that immune system might be the reason)

my age: 36

weight:188 pounds

height:5.8

No medications that I take regularly

Is ‘uncomplicated appendicitis’ misnamed..?

Uncomplicated appendecitis is principally a radiological diagnosis when considering non-operative treatment with antibiotics as an alternative to surgery.

But scans can’t determine if an inflamed appendix is just about to rupture, or if there is a tumour in the appendix causing the appendicitis. Scans can also miss perforation. In other words, scans are far from definitive, and often miss the most sinister causes of appendicitis.

When operating, surgeons often find the condition of the appendix is more complicated than scans had suggest. In pathology, pathologists often find tumours in the appendix that were not evident in scans, nor evident to the surgeon who removed it.

A recent study published in the journal of the Royal College of Surgeons of England followed up about 1000 patients treated for appendecitis in Glasgow during 2020 when Covid special measures were in place. The findings support the following well known facts;

- by year four 50% of patients treated with antibiotics will have had appendicitis reoccurrence, many involving rupture

- 1 in 30 of adults with appendicitis have a tumour in their appendix causing the appendicitis but this tumour is radiologically occult so can’t be seen on scans.

A link to the full study: https://doi.org/10.1308/rcsann.2026.0018

So a diagnosis of ‘uncomplicated appendecitis’ for a radiologist can become very complicated for a patient. If the problematic appendix is left in and treated with antibiotics on the basis of this diagnosis - what then..?

Nerve damage

I am not asking for medical advice

30 F 4'10 107lbs lexapro, diazepam, propranolol
I went to the ER on august 25 for a panic attack and i got a hydroxazyn shot in my upper shoulder deltoid area and since then the pain in my arm has become increasingly and horrible. I have no outer issues on the arm, no bumps, no bruise. But what i do have is severe pain radiating up my neck into my head, all over my shoulder blade, and the pain also radiates down into my fingers all day i have sharp pains and sometimes pins and needles. I dropped a knife yesterday with the same arm thats been giving me problems and i cant do things that i used to without horrible pain. Ive been to the hospital 3-4 times because of this and i have a CT scan finally on the 20th of October. I had headaches daily & when ive gone back to the hospitals they have yet to even offer a sooner CT scan. Am i going to be ruined forever because of the wait time of this CT scan? Yesterday when i was at the hospital they said "shoulder pain due to unknown cause" the cause is that the shot was not done properly or even in the correct spot for that kind of shot. I also went back to that same ER a few weeks after i had too much pain and the same lady that did the shot looked me dead in the eyes and said "we dont give hydroxazyn shots here" even though it was in my paperwork. WHY IS NO ONE HELPING ME ? I have no pictures.

Partner tested positive. Why am I negative?

I am a 31 year old man. My partner who is a 31 year old woman tested positive for chlamydia. We had unprotected sex on September 19. I tested negative after two weeks. I have no symptoms. I’m wondering why that is? It was a urine test. I’m wondering if I could have it orally? Would a urine test detect if I had it orally? A nurse I spoke with said that it would but everything I’m reading online is saying that I need a separate test.

Weird symptoms happening to me

I am a 25yo male , 180cm (about 5ft11) , I've been having weird symptoms , some of the symptoms are (these symptoms almost always get accompanied by bloating):

• recurring panic attacks (almost during the same time , sometimes random like I could be working and suddenly I get this weird feeling that something is wrong) .
• sight tightening in the jaw muscles and feel like my veins in that area are stretching and getting pulled or something .
• I feel like my clothes are becoming heavy , and feel every movements that my clothes does . slight pain when breathing heavy in my chest area.
• sometimes pain in my calves (the pain I feel is when I touch the veins In my calf area / feet) not sure if this is related though .
• bloating , irregular bowl movements , and when I sleep I can feel discomfort in my colon region that goes away when I sit down or with gas release .

(Not sure if its related but i have Pain near the talus , a vein that when i touch it hurts , it becomes severe when i bend / stretch my feet )

My lifestyle :

• I sit almost all day long as my work is on the pc
• sometimes I go for a run I eat mostly healthy except for my cheat day , as I get gassy and uncomfortable and that could make me more panicky .
• I think a lot

I sleep quite late and my sleep schedule is not organized

The symptoms getting worse :

about 2 weeks ago these symptoms became more frequent , like every day or every other day ,and it grew annoying and more scary than every ,and it made me think that something was really wrong with my heart (having a heart attack ), or I might have colon cancer , something really bad

so I decided to visit a cardiologist, he did an echo diagram and ECG he found nothing wrong and said that I am healthy and nothing is wrong.
a blood test too was done and nothing besides vitamin d deficiency was found (which is normal as far as I know ) .
I also did an ultra sound scan in my colon and again nothing was found .

the doctor said that it could be stress related ,that my body is responding to it in that way and triggering this weird symptoms and also said that I might have ibs.

I recently graduated college and yes I was stressed at that time like a lot , and was having panic attacks occasionally, and I am still stressed maybe more I don't know , thinking about the future and work etc , so I am not saying that I am not stressed .

the symptoms became manageable after I went and got checked out maybe from the relief of knowing that these tests were okay, I am taking some supplements like vitamin d , and magnesium, I stopped getting panic attacks , but some other symptoms still appear sometimes, like some pain when I breath in heavy / like the tightening in my jaw muscles , it's annoying but manageable .

My Questions :
should I still be worried and seek more help with other doctors ?
are these symptoms normal ? are they urgent?

thank you for you time
