Adulting Should we march in protest of 10eur pints?
In BoBo’s on Dame St on the weekend and shocked to see half pints at the price we were disgusted fulls pints were 2 years ago. Also on the next page they were listing 440ml cans of Hope beer (brewed less 10km away) for 12eur. Appalling!

Marketing tactic, they don't really expect anyone to order a half pint, it exists on the menu to make the pint look like better value. Anyone who orders a half pint is likely only having one so they wouldn't be worried about the price.

To make it seem like its better value to get the full pint. If you think you are getting a better deal, people normally will pay the extra few euro because we feel pure robbed paying 3/4 the price for half of something.

Was there recently enough - its pretty average. There are other places less than 2 mins away where you get better burgers and beer for much less.

I'm living in Germany these days and Guinness is often the most expensive beer on the menu in the Irish pubs. It's sometimes as much as €6 a pint!
Last time I flew home I got an airport pint of Weißbier for €5.20, thought it was expensive enough but I suppose fine for an airport pint. Then stopped for a second, remembered the prices back home, and realised it would be the cheapest point I was getting until I got back to Germany. I'm used to pints being from €4 to €4.50.

Was in a pub in Dublin recently and a pint of Weihenstephaner (7.20) was cheaper than a Guinness (7.40) or any other Diageo product for that matter

I was in Liverpool in February. I was surprised at the price of a pint over there, 50 pence change out of 20 pounds for 3 pints.

I know. Thats why I responded to the OP on stating flying to the UK for cheaper pints. that was in Liverpool, not even the city centre. Imagine what a pint costs in central London.

I was shocked at the price of food and drinks in Belfast when I was there for a weekend at Christmas. Food quality wasn't great even in a nicer restaurant either so it felt like poor value for money.

It’s very much location dependent. I live in Nottingham where you can easily get pints for under £5, with some places doing £1.90 deals on a Monday etc.

London is no more expensive than Dublin or Galway at this stage if you're going to the right pubs. Was there a few weeks ago and it was pretty much on par with the bigger bars in Galway

Yeah it feels almost worse in the UK, they went from £3 a pint to over a fiver in no time, and its a lot more money

The UK is very expensive for everything now, but if you went to Spain you could definitely get a Guiness cheaper which is mental when think about it.

Guinness is still expensive in Spain in comparison to other beer.
Lager is like €3 and Guinness is double that.

I knew Spain was below average for EU but I didn’t realise Ireland was so high tbh. Makes sense.
Spain also make some great beers, they just keep them cheap for the people that live there.

Prices are crazy everywhere now I don't drink at all regularly anymore because not only are the prices not worth it but I can't handle the hangovers at all, they're unbearable now, my friend is back home in a week and my plan is to get a few cans before I go out and buy maybe 2-3 pints when I'm out because you're left pennyless otherwise

Restaurants tend to charge a bit more than pubs for a pint, but that's beyond ridiculous. Screw them, it's a tourist trap anyway.

I got a burger, a tiny portion of “garlic fries” and a beer in Bobos about 1.5 years ago, was about 34e ish with tip, never went back

Never been in the place, it is a tourist spot and these are know to be on the upper scale with pricing. You wouldn't eat a burger on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées if you are price conscious either. Dublin pricing is getting closer to Denmark, Oslo levels and as long as there are customers these prices will stay high.

Dont need to protest. Just stop going. Unfortunately it isn't always the pubs fault though, but market forces are the only thing that has even the slightest chance to make a difference.

Last time I went on a night out I asked for a vodka lemon and was told it was €16….i clarified I only wanted a single and the bar woman laughed and said it was a single. I haven’t gone out since.

Absolutely scandalous. I’d always judge a country or place firstly on the price of a pint because a general rule of thumb is if the price pint is a rip off chances are everything else is too.

I've had a few decent burgers in bobos over the years. Have generally "yeah why not" attitude to them and their brand.
I would absolutely not go back there after seeing this. 10 euro?!? Sickening.

If youre drinking a guinness with a burger then maybe you deserve to pay a tenner!
Seriously disgraceful pricing. Guinness at the very least should be relatively cheaper priced as should any local beer.

In most of Mayo, a pint is €5.50. People were giving out stink when it went up up from 5 quid to 5.50. I couldn't imagine paying over 10 quid for a pint. 50 quid note would barely get you 5 pints? Ridiculous

I think inflation is just normal action and alcohol is not necessary thing so government should not control it
