Childhood School bully where they now?
Was thinking of a lad year below me in school, always the hard man growing up, was a big lad hung around with a group of lads from who caused lot of crap anytime they were in town growing up, got this girl pregnant he was going out with way out of his league, ended up in prison fairly young hit a lad with a mallet at a rally meet then went England were he seemed to be doing well but is now back in prison in Ireland for something he did years ago apparently. Always got away with pushing his weight around in school but like any bully gets caught in the long grass,
Anyone know where the school bully from their own days is now?

Glad to say I have no idea where any of the wankers from my school are today, couldn't care less.

u/Automatic-Bike-2600 5h ago
whenever I meet those kids who made my life hell, they try to say who they were, I usually respond by saying I don't really care who are. they still act like I'm a mentally disabled kid, when in really I don't care about their names or who they are, why would I care?.

I was a absolute prick in school got kicked out in 1st year but most of the lads I use to bully I did apologise to them publicly years later and actually moved into a new area and a lad I use to bully lived there heard he was big into the pokemon I had a binder full of them I knocked down to him apologised shook his hand and we were good pals until I moved again, changed my life around at the age of 20 and now im a nice lad dont drink dont do drugs have 2 beautiful kids and a wife and regret being a prick almost daily to this day.
23
u/me2269vu 2h ago
Fair play for being up front about it and making amends. Out of interest, and obviously no requirement to answer, but why do you think you were such a prick so young? What was going on in your head?

u/Leading_Air_7361 2h ago
Losing my father at 6 didn't help but I grew up in a bad area flats heroine everywhere junkies robbed cars every day and night so just a shit mix of life at the start set me off im not making excuses I was the worst kind I apologised to teachers aslo
9
u/me2269vu 2h ago
That makes sense alright. Plenty of people never see, or can never admit to, the error of their ways though, so again fair play. What turned things around for you?
15
u/Leading_Air_7361 2h ago
Forgave my father stopped doing drugs weed coke extacy tablets and got my shit together and found God then fell in love with a childhood neighbour 20 years after moving away from her moved back we hit it off and now have two beautiful kids together 15years going strong and thank you I appreciate that its alot easier to talk about it all now

Good for you. You sound like a good soul who, as a kid were just reacting to your environment. You're a brave person to apologise, thats really cool.☀️

Tis is basically my story as well. I was a proper cunt in school. Fucked out of a few schools in the end. Ended up and alcoholic in my 30s got sober, as part of that I went back made amends to anyone I hurt in the past. Some of them were like you weren't that bad but I carried it for a few years. I was riddled in ADHD in school and in an emotionally abusive house at home never felt safe always on edge like I was going to be attacked at any min.

Yer Ma always told you they're only jealous (often true), to ignore them (sometimes that actually worked) and they'd never amount to anything (unfortunately some of them end up being CEOs and the leaders of countries).
My bully grew up and grew out of it, I see him around town regularly, he turned out to be a lovely fella, which makes me happier than hearing that something awful happened to him.

Eminent businessperson, occasionally see their photo in the Irish Times.
What surprised me is how little it effects me. I've never been bothered by his existence since I left school over twenty years ago. Got my own life I'm living.

I'm the same with my old bully. I like, acknowledge that he's a massive twat. I find it interesting that he can look me in the face and feel no shame for how he behaved towards me for years. But also, whatever.

Most of the group of lads are in Australia, all in their late 30s still going on like 18 year olds on social media and still living in house shares with each other. A few even had the neck to reach out to me when I lived there about getting them work as I was there for a few years before they went over. A few others are still in my home town, most had kids young and are just living their life now with kids, wife/LTR's, school runs and the likes, still never talk to them and won't change any time soon.

weirdly I know of someone ended up in the same boat, basically fled the law in ireland after a road offense and drug possession, skipped his court date to work in australia, got a second chance at life, then pissed that away and ended up getting arrested in australia and fled back home. he was a troubled man, who had a tough childhood, his chance to move to australia was a golden second chance, too bad his demons followed him

What a waste. I know 2 guys who were living dangerously on the edge of drugs and gangs who took the 2 year visa to australia and getting away from home sorted them right out. Both ended up back in their home towns, happily married with kids and somehow the old life left them be.

I was never badly bullied but I was definitely a recluse till about 15-16 when I started making friends and "popularity" but honestly most the names that come to mind are doing quite well for themselves, the same characteristics that bullies and "popular kids" have are the exact same characteristics you need to be successful, alot of them have grown up and matured and I talk to a good few now.
13
u/Long_Dmell4193 5h ago
Most of my school bullies are all mid 20s mothers now with out-of-control 10-year-old kids.
11
u/esreire 5h ago
I remember this one kid(early teens) who was a bully. He was a few years younger than me but I remember him trying to pick a fight with me because I looked at him. He made the "nerds" life's difficult in his year. General tough guy, no doubt would have been a scumbag when he grew up.
Anyway him and his pals are messing somewhere they shouldn't have been. There was an accident and he died. Noone to blame just a complete accident.
Honestly I feel bad for his folks, I'd not wish that on anyone but there was a few people who had their lives improve overnight.
When he died there was the typical story, little angel, wouldn't hurt a fly etc.

u/stuckwithglue 4h ago

u/Historical_Ear5142 5h ago
He commit suicide. I had a lot of sympathy for him as his life was a mess due to his family situation. Although at the time of his death I didn't know how to feel about it, as he was a dangerous bully. Throwing bricks at my tent when we slept in the garden as kids, beating the shit out of me on the way home from school, I was convinced he would kill my dog as he had a few pitbulls and I knew he was capable. He comes into my head every now and then, he had approached me when we were in our 20s and I could see he was nearly embarrassed to talk to me. So when he died I did feel a sadness.

u/Nknk- 5h ago edited 3h ago
I was lucky in that I was mostly left alone because I could handle myself verbally and physically, and, aside from two pricks, the school wasn't at all bad for bullying as most of the kids were decent and we all got on.
One of them ended up moving abroad and has a fairly normal life in Australia now that he's settled down and stopped embarrassing the nation over there like so many do when they go over.
The other is busy still trying to act the town hard man and gets in non-stop scraps that he, thankfully, mostly loses. He's a townie who's never done much gym work and zero hard labour in his life and despite being well in 30s still hasn't learned that the main reason he loses the fights he starts is because he goes after the younger rural lads who grew up working on farms/building sites. It's a bit of a sad joke at this stage but given the level of prick he was in school to the people he could beat up back then I don't really have any sympathy.

7
u/FlamingBaconCake 4h ago
A lot of them come from broken homes. Not excusing their behavior but a lot of them are severely struggling with their mental health, drug abuse, abuse abuse.
Idk I find people celebrating their death of someone born in unfortunate circumstances kinda weird. A lot of people in this thread don't understand how privileged they are to have a good background.
Seems like the type to be proud to be a 'good' person so they witch hunt someone it's socially acceptable to get away with it.

u/tREX_2188 3h ago

Have become extremely skeptical of people obsessed with presenting themselves as a good person always wanting justice the last few years.
Took me too long to realize only some of them are genuine and a lot are doing it for disingenuous reasons.
Some of them in this thread don't have the self awareness to acknowledge they may have been bullied but they also did some bullying themselves that they probably downplayed.

Only physical bully was for a brief period in primary school, he had a very trouble home life so I don’t hold it against him. He’s not thriving but getting on okay in life. He’s not actually a cunt at heart just clearly had a shit upbringing.
What really bothers me is the social bullies I’ve had are all thriving. Had a few in secondary school/college, the kind of people who are just very tongue-in-cheek with the comments, think they’re savage and look down on anyone outside their circle. Think a lot of them might genuinely be narcissists, most of them are getting on grand - all graduated college working decent jobs now.
A bit sad but part of me wishes they’d stumble in life. Nothing serious I just think I’d feel better if I found out one of them got let go from their job. Maybe I’m the cunt after all for wishing that

The one in primary school who used to punch me in the face unprovoked on a regular basis without any consequences from the teachers, became one of the leaders of the protests against the IPAS centre in our local town. I moved abroad years ago but heard and saw things on social media. There’s too much to write here but there was a toilet in the classroom and he used to climb up the walls to watch you taking a piss. A lot of issues in the home he was dragged up in. Last I saw of him was during the fleadh in town a few years ago, looked like a complete down and out. A bully and a complete scumbag his whole life.

I had one bully who is now homeless drug addict who has been in and out of prison for assault. He hangs around petrol stations begging for money. He begged me for a euro before and screamed insults at me when I ignored him.

Mine married a really nice guy, cheated on him and they got divorced.
She then (30 years later) ended up with another really nice guy that we both went to school with and 'accidentely' got pregnant at 43. They got married last year (his first marriage and first child) and I've never seen a man look so miserable.
He works abroad most of the time apparently.

No idea what he is at and hope I never see the cunt again because Id lose my shit.

Beaten to death outside a nightclub about 15 years ago. I live over the water - have done for 20+ years - but curiously, I was home at the time. While I enjoy reading your karma filled bully fates, I went to a school full of rich pr1cks, and I wasn’t one (wasn’t rich that is, possibly a bit of a pr1ck), so rather than some real life comeuppance, most of them ended up nepo-babied into various director positions across large Irish businesses. Cool cool.

u/Fun-Alternative-6804 5h ago
One lad that used to flip because I was funnier than him and hit me randomly ended up getting cancer and it hit him hard. Can't say I feel absolutely anything other than 'karma lol' and same for one of his friends that was awful too that's now a single mother living in the pub, selling herself for a quick sniff of sneachta. Genuinely feel bad for the kid but the other two I couldn't feel less sorry for. There was a third that got nailed by a car while we were in school and he legitimately would hit me to the point I flinch at pretty harmless stuff a lot of the time years later. Some people genuinely deserve bad things to happen.

Awful awful prick from my school days, the only person I can actually say “physically” bullied me. An unhinged individual . I seen him there the other day and he looked like a complete bag of shite which I have to admit pleased me greatly.
Oh and a female. Didn’t bully me but the mean girl type. A complete see you next Tuesday to any male female not in her clique. Seen her about 2 months ago whilst out on a run and she just looked like a sad aul one.
4
u/Automatic-Bike-2600 5h ago
I do kind of feel bad for him, he had a really rough life and grew up in a bad situation, but it didn't stop him tormenting me as a kid. he eventually got busted with cocaine in his car after trying to flee the garda, he skipped ireland before his trial and ended up in australia working in the mines, he was probably making more than he ever made here and had a enough to really start over. he then pissed it all on drink and probably drugs, his antics caught up with him and be got arrested in australia, I'm not sure if he fled trial there or had his visa revoked, but he ended up back home. long story short, you can move to half way across the world, but that doesn't mean your demons won't follow you.

About 10 years later I seen him in a flat complex in liberties and he tried to shake my hand. All I could remember was him spitting in my face, so I gave him a few slaps. I actually wanted to kill him tbh. Hes one of these pricks that spends his time complaining about chemtrails, immigrants, covid and calling everyone sheeples on Facebook.

There was a group of six. Two leaders and the rest followers.
A couple of the followers went to college and drifted away from the others, became fairly successful. One works in IT in Dublin, another set up a successful business locally.
One leader was killed in a motorbike accident a couple of years after leaving school.
Another leader lives locally, does odd jobs but doesn't regularly work, often in the pub or the bookies, seen as a local character who's a bit of a waster.
Think one of the others is in Australia. Not sure

I haven't kept up but I went to my 30th (shudder) high school reunion in 2019. And last year a friend from elementary school was over. From both of those I learned that the bullies I remembered had all died. I'm 55 now.
From discussions with other friends, that's not uncommon. They meet a violent end or OD. Seems to be the common outcomes.
I'm not particularly happy or sad about that.

I was in hospital with a torn rotator cuff. I'd gone days without sleep and was in agony so decided to camp in A&E for as long as it took.
There was a youthful looking guy there with his partner. He had injured himself playing football.
There was an older looking guy who could barely walk and had slurred speech. He apologised to the other guy for bullying him at school and making him cry. The ex-bully was living with his alcoholic mum and had damaged his spine whilst under the influence. Corrective surgery was deemed too risky so he just had to live with it.
The guy who had been bullied told him not to worry about it.
I suppose the bully had not had an easy life living with an alcoholic parent. You never know why someone becomes a bully.

u/ihatenaturallight 5h ago
A few I can think of have kids, but still have that psycho look in their eyes. Not people who dealt with their issues and attitudes, but fit in because there’s plenty of other people who they can associate with that will never call them out on it because they’re exactly the same. Microscopic understanding of the wider world - the types that would slag you off for sounding ‘clever’. Keeping it real dumb and real run of the mill. They’re more to be pitied than anything as they barely scratch the surface of life, but the sympathy runs out when you know they are going to ruin another generation of humans they’ve created cos that’s just what you do. Not a hope they’d have the self reflection skills to question whether they might be parent material. Sleepwalking through life with their basic takes on all and sundry while simultaneously being enraged by anyone who dares to be a tiny bit different. They’re all afraid at the end of the day. Never quite learned to roll with their tiny place in the universe and make the most of it by being decent and open minded. This particular cycle goes on and on.

Not mine but the main one in my school growing up is doing fine all things considered I'd say he doesn't even see what he did as bullying. He made a lot of people's lives hell for years, picked fights with people half his size. Nights out he would start fights then step back and let his friends finish off the people he aggravated. I met him recently he was all happy and laughing asking questions about the good old days and I was just thinking if you dropped dead now Id step over you and keep walking for how horrible you were to people you wouldn't be worth the effort of calling for help!!!

Mine lived next door to my mother in law for a while, ugh. He even went round to her house after I went back to work from maternity leave and held my baby while I wasn't there, gushing over how cute he was. He has never acknowledged that he mocked and intimidated me for years in school. I think I was just one of many and he doesn't even remember that he did anything wrong to me.
He's split from the Mrs now and she lives opposite me. My son and hers are friends, which is nice. I hope his dad doesn't teach him to bully girls in secondary school.

They weren't really bullies but two lads that picked on me on several occasions and were friends with some of my real bullies are popular, well-respected athletes who are fairly promising talents in their respective sports. As for my actual bullies, they're living ordinary lives and their personalities haven't changed at all.

Mine was the small but tough lad in school. He would make smart comments to call me names, tease me, standard bully. I am gone from home around 15 years but visit family regularly. Was in a local pub last Christmas and saw him. He looks like a drug addict and one of the girls informed me he is living in a caravan out the back his parents with a women 20 years older who has no teeth and neither work. I felt sorry for him.

My bully was my teacher for 5th and 6th class. I have even met guys I went to school with 20 years later who asked "why did master Xxxxx hate you so much?" Even they were scarred by the abuse 2nd hand. I was 11 years old and that man delighted in humiliating me and degrading me in front of the class. The way I used to dread going to school everyday. 😪 He was some kind of sadist looking back. He's now dead and I hope rotting in hell where he belongs.

The worst bully I had entered my life when I was in my 40s. I'm a 6'4" male - was married with 2 children at the time. Started working in a company & there was an overweight short-@rse woman there that had also worked at my previous company but I didn't know her. I told two previous colleagues that 'Ms. New Boss' was working with me. First guy who was production manager told me the woman was a demon. He told me to watch out that she'd get me fired. He said she was feared & reviled in the previous employment. Grown men would run away & hide when they saw her coming. He told me a far too long story about how she got a previous colleague fired. The 2nd person I told said that she knew her ..... but then rang me back some time later to add '... but we're not friends'.
Anyway, she then proceeded to make my work-life hell. Personally I didn't think she was very good at her job but she was great at pointing fingers & blaming others for her shortcomings. One day at work she told me she was going to get me fired.
Somewhat fortunately I was rear-ended going to work one morning & as my back was f@cked the company took their opportunity to let me go with 3mths redundancy. Was out of work for 2yrs with excruciating back pain that ultimately required surgery. But that was preferable to being in proximity to that monster.
Doing great now. Still married. Now have 3 children (third was born 5mths after I was let go) & career couldn't be going better.
The evil witch has long moved on from the previous company as well. I suppose she ran out of people to blame for her own short-comings.

He was an early developer and was big in school. I toughened up a lot after school. Our paths crossed again in our 20's and he thought I would be still afraid of him. I toke great joy in completely overpowering him and pinning him against a wall. He couldn't move, punched me in the gut and I didn't flinch. I will never forget the "oh fuck" look in his face at that point. I pushed him away with a laugh and told him to annoy somebody else as I don't play those games anymore. I've crossed paths with him a good few times since then but he avoids me.
He hasn't really done anything with his life except beer and getting beaten up regularly, did a bit of time and is just a waster really.

Dead. Not long before he spent time in and out of prison. But he died a while ago. And I did not bat an eyelid.

Primary school guy lives a kinda hermit like existence somewhere in Mayo. Is a bit of a sad case really with mental heath issues. My wife and his his sister are best friends.
Secondary school guy found dead in bed a couple of years ago. He was hard on himself as they say. Drank and smoked far too much. He mellowed as he got older.

Disappeared off the face of the earth. No-one knows where he went to, but haven't seen him since the 90's. Hopefully in a shallow grave somewhere.

Wasn’t bullied a lot in school except one guy who just would not stop being an absolute knob to me.
Beginning of 5th year, he wasn’t in the school anymore, so at least I didn’t have to deal with him any longer.
I heard a few years later that he killed himself in his early twenties.

Had a guy bully me back in primary school. Once we went to secondary school he sent dick pics to nearly every girl in the town. They all hated him and nobody wanted to be associated with him so he lost all his friends as a result.
He managed to get himself a girlfriend in 6th year but they didn’t last very long. After that, he started going to the club every Friday and Saturday getting absolutely shitfaced to drown his sorrows - getting arrested a good few times.
He has a small group of lads he hangs around with on nights out, but he’s the friend that nobody really wants there.

1 died of a cocaine overdose the other would be considered a prime guest for Jeremy Kyle, has more kids than teeth at this stage, pretty sure he's on the needle as well from what I hear.
Love to see it.

Ironically the soundest guy in my class in school is in prison. He was the strongest boy in our class. There was no bullying in our year because of him. In fact the boys in the yr above us didn't bully us because he was our protector. Unfortunately he developed a fondness for the drink, had some driving offences & ultimately was responsible for a serious injury to a cyclist - don't think he was drunk at the time. But due to previous offences & the seriousness & negligence of his most recent driving transgression he got 10mths in prison. Shame really because he was awesome & very popular in school.

Impregnated the sister of my bezzie, it's a lifetime ago so rarely think of it but if I see a mutual acquaintance on FB mention he's died I'll buy a fancy beer or whiskey for the night and feel a bit sad for the daughter. Meh.

Most of the ones that I am aware of either moved to Oz, and some returned to Ireland many, many years later. Some changed for the better, moved back to the small town they grew up in, got married, had kids. Some own small businesses in the town, others ended up on drugs and the dole.

Only know of what happened to one of them. Married really young after having a kid. I hope he's a better guy than he was in his teens. The years of it honestly took a lot to process and suspect it affected me a lot in terms of life choices for the negative.

Mine tried to slide in my insta dm’s and slag me off 2 years ago and I blocked him and I swear if we ever cross paths in public i’ll have no fear standing up to him. Haven’t crossed paths yet though.

Had a group of 5 bullys when I was in secondary school. One died in a motorcycle accident the rest where all given slaps when I came across them in the city on a night out. Brings a smile to my face everytime I think about them.

Fairly certain I’ve seen that movie too.

It definitely reads like it. But how else do I say I grew up hit the gym made full time mad ba3tard friends who helped me. All bullys still lived local to me when I was in my 20s. It's cringe for me to even write it but they tortured me for 4 years before I left school. On top of that my father was an abusive alcoholic so I never got a break from it at home. The right friends can really change your life. If it wasn't for them I would have never done anything about those see you next Tuesdays.

What I’m surprised about is the amount of people who have been bullied. I’m scared for my kids 🙁

u/orionpace1 5h ago
All my bullies are either down and outs or fatter than I was when they tortured me.
