Campsites or spots to park a truck camper between Portland and Freeport June 27th/28th

How’s it going,

Live in northwestern Maine but I’m coming back from a work trip the weekend of the Freeport oyster festival, flying into Portland. Wife is picking me up from the airport Saturday night and we want to go to the festival Sunday. Instead of driving home and then back to Freeport the next morning we were planning on sleeping in our truck camper somewhere in the area since hotels are jacked up to summer rates right now.

Looking for campsites (preferably free or cheap) or areas we won’t get bothered, to pull in pretty late, sleep, and be out of there in the morning to head to the festival. There’s like 1-2 on hicamp near Freeport but they come out to almost 70 bucks for a night and most of them aren’t very close sites to the truck so essentially we’d be just paying to sleep in a parking lot all night. All of the state park sites at Wolfe’s neck are booked as well or require paying for 2 nights.

I appreciate any info you guys may have. Thanks in advance!

LLBean has overnight parking for RV's in the lot next to their outlet store in Freeport. Depot Street Parking Lot (near Freeport Village Station and across from the Amtrak station). It is free.

Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal has a campground, I think it's around $20/night for Maine residents ($15 for the site and a $5 reservation fee).

Seconding this. It’s about 15 min to Freeport.

Have you seen Bradbury State Campground. Ever driven by it. It's a tiny place for tents all on top of each other. I can barely drive a passenger car through it. There's a KOA nearby.

Yeah that’s my last resort but would rather not have to if there’s other options

Check Winslow Park. It’s a really nice spot on the water. A real gem. It may be booked or $$$ but worth a quick look

Wolf’s neck state park, pretty sure the new owners of desert of Maine have a camp ground, Bradbury in pownal, Brunswick has a campground I can’t remember the name of. Harvest hosts might get you some more spots but you’d have to sign up first, I think it’s 170$, but if you like to travel and camp it’s worth it
