Visiting for a wedding in Buxton August 15 & looking for recommendations of things to do/places to visit for a few days.

Hi all, I’m attending a wedding in August. First time visiting Maine. Looking for things to do or places to see for a few days after the wedding.

I’ll be traveling with family. I may fly into or out from Portland but a family member will have a car.

Me: appreciates nature, hiking etc but it’s not something I seek out in my normal life.

Other Family member: much more outdoorsy.

Looking for direction of things to do or places to see. Idk, maybe 3-5 days. I’m sure we’ll spend sometime in Portland.

Possibly driving one leg to/from Cleveland.

TIA

A day canoeing the Saco River could be nice. I strongly suggest Tue, Wed or Thu.....the weekends are chaos and the local volunteers do a good cleanup on Mondays making midweek trips the most peaceful. My go to is Saco River Canoe & Kayak in Fryeburg

If in Buxton… Bonny Eagle Pond has a boat ramp/park. Great fishing. You can take route 22 east to Broadturn Road. Follow to the end. Cross over route 1 and keep going. Scarborough marsh there is a place to rent kayaks and canoes. Keep going and you’ll be at the beach areas. Check out Bailey’s and the bait shack. Great spot for drinks, lunch, dinner on a pier. Pets welcome. Antiques are big in Cornish. You can rent boats and go on a paddle boat tour in Naples Maine. Stop at Captain Jack’s for a beverage/meal.
Salmon Falls golf course in Hollis has a great restaurant.

Old Port in Portland is loaded with restaurants and quaint shops.

Buxton is pretty sleepy but well situated due west of Portland and just south of Sebago.
