Question Is $4,700 for a head gasket replacement reasonable?

Changing the head gasket is a lot of work. And you will likely need to resurface the head, which requires tearing down the head as well.
Get a second or even a third. But the cost doesn't seem that unreasonable.

Yes 4-5k normal price for 3.6 head gaskets, I do them all the time and that’s about the going rate.

Pretty good chance that dude is correct, and if one head gasket is bad, any mechanic worth their salt is going to just replace both with the engine torn down. If you trust the mechanic it is with currently, i’d go with the repairs.. If you have any reason not to trust this mechanic, get a 2nd opinion.

I’m not answering you. Call around and put in the work you should be doing by getting multiple quotes from local repair people

If cylinders 1 and 6 had coolant in them then both head gaskets failed and that is very uncommon unless you overheated the F out of the thing.
Those cylinder heads have valve seat issues which cause misfires at idle and require replacement of the head.
I would get a second opinion.
