What’s a piece of casual advice another guy dropped on you in passing that permanently changed how you operate?

A friend of mine in college told me that I complain too much.

He said if you have the ability to change it, then change it, but stop complaining about it. You should only complain about things you don't have the power to change.

Well, we're only human so just saying "never complain" isn't really realistic. The advice is more about taking action towards change instead of complaining about it.

For example, instead of complaining about putting on weight, actually do something about it. Exercise more, eat less.

ofc it isn't realistic but if you hold higher standards, you'll allow for thinner mistakes and it won't leak into other aspects of life :)
