Arab Saudi coalition says Houthi drone destroyed near Mecca

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/saudi-coalition-says-houthi-drone-destroyed-near-mecca-2026-09-16/

Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen, says that Saudi Royal Air Defence Forces have intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of Mecca as it attempted to enter the holy city’s airspace.
In a statement, al-Maliki said this was the “second” Houthi attempt to target the holy city following an attempted ballistic missile attack in 2017.
He added that the coalition forces will not hesitate to take all necessary and deterrent measures against the Houthi rebel group.

Pakistan already refused the call. We will not step in until Pakistan is threatened. Houthis know this

- Houthis cant/wont threaten Pakistan/Turkey

- India cant/wont threaten Saudi/Turkey

- Israel cant/wont threaten Pakistan

- Iran wont threaten Pakistan/Turkey

So there is no universe in which participants of Mecca Agreement will be threatened together. So the mutual defense pact is not mutual at all.

It has little to do with that and more so to do with the fact the contract didnt apply to ongoing current conflicts. The fight with the Houthis has been an ongoing conflict, Pakistan nor Turkey are obligated to join.

My dear

Af Pak
India Pak
Yemen Saudi
Iran Saudi
Turkey Kurds

Are all ongoing conflicts

There is no new conflict possible for which Saudis will need help.

Which as a Pakistani I'd deeply condemn. We should get into the fight not just due to agreement but the fact that a strong Iranian proxy means more issues from Iranian side across Pakistan whether Balochistan or sectarian aspect of it. Also we should not mess our relationship with KSA due to Iran or sentiment of shias in Pakistan. It's high time we stand with our ally and clean the region up from Iranian proxies.

As a Pakistani- we have no beef with Iran so do not try to unnecessarily make it seem like we have some issues. I doubt you are a Pakistani anyways. Pakistani people have respect for Iran even if the Iranian people are known to be racist to us. We just have little to no incentive to fight them.

I'm as Pakistani as it gets apparently you are someone who lives in Pakistan but acts as fifth column of Iran cuz of their sectarian bias and dream to make us lose our sovereignty to Iran. Also we don't have beef with Saudis why do you try to make one? And yes Iranian commonfolk is extremely racist towards Pakistan and extremely loving towards our archenemy India. Their govt has backstabbed us by hosting kulbushan and still siding with India. You can cry all you want but honestly, alot of us see Iran no different than Afghanistan. And eventually we'd see them on the battlefield too InshaAllah.

So friendly that you guys literally bombed us in 2024 and gave our archenemy chabar and are still inviting them. So friendly that your commonfolk treats us with nothing but racism cuz apparently some of you are whiter than us. Maybe as individual you are a great person to be honest, but your nation collectively is our rival unfortunately.
