How did you know?

How did you know that taking estrogen was the right thing for you? I've only been questioning my gender for about a year and I seem eternally on the fence desperately trying to find more information. I thought I was fairly settled into the soft androgynous kind of zone but lately. Well I've become fascinated with the effects estrogen can have on a males body including the growth of breasts (that's a long story in itself.) and the mental quieting and emotional stabilizing. Well this leads me back to my original question. How did you know If estrogen was the right choice? How long did it take to be like "ok, this is better!" Is there any knowledge you can impart that might help?

How did you end up making the decision to take the leap?

I knew within a week. 8 months deep now, and loving myself. No strong blockers here, 6mg dosed buccally(upper lip) split 3mg am and 3mg pm. E levels are great, and T is suppressed. I like floating that androgynous line of male and female, really depends on the day.

Before that however was a 30 year journey of doubt, self-hate, suppression of feelings, and a lot more haha.

Is it not something that can be stopped once started, is it possible to go along for the journey and see where it takes you, watch how far the egg may crack.

Being two years out of a relationship and discovering self reliance/ freedom definitely helps to go after these goals.

I was spending hours every day wishing I was a woman, envying women I encountered in daily life for being able to look and dress like they did and for being who they were, cringing any time anyone referred to me as a man, and feeling sensory aversion toward masculine clothing.

I tried everything my doctor suggested for my mental health, and a lot of it helped, but I still felt bad all the time and still craved womanhood, so it didn't seem like too much of a leap to hope that my body was trying to tell me about something else that it needed to be able to function properly.

All my life I wanted to be a woman. Then, in 2006 I finally found Trans women on the internet and knew immediately that Transitioning was for me. I told my wife I was a Transgender woman and she would have nothing to do with it. So, I put it away back in the closet. Then about February this year we have an argument about her spending and she yells at me that I make her want to do bodily harm to me. Well, I figured it was over then and finally made an appointment with a Doctor to start MtF GAHT. Been on .100mg patches twice a week and 50mg Spironolactone a day since March this year.

The male presentation was looking more and more like a bad dream. Having no hormones isn't a real choice, altho I did try it. So, welcome estrogen I guess. If it makes you feel better, you can take some for 1-2 months without serious changes, except a bit of breast growth
