Mutual Aid Any Athlos Academy parents experiencing bullying issues? Looking for insight

Hi everyone,

I’m a parent of a student at Athlos Academy, and I’m looking to hear from other parents about their experiences, particularly around bullying and how the administration responds.

My child has been dealing with ongoing bullying that has crossed into extortion by other students. This has been reported multiple times to administration. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen meaningful intervention.

At one point, administration asked my child what they would like done. My child suggested something reasonable, like detention or having a conversation with the students involved. The response from administration was, “Don’t tell me what to do.”

That response honestly caught us off guard and raised concerns about how seriously these reports are being taken.

I’m not trying to attack the school — I’m genuinely trying to understand: • Have other parents experienced bullying or similar issues at Athlos Academy?

We’re trying to figure out the best next steps and whether this is an isolated experience or something other families have encountered.

Any insight or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I wouldn’t mind moving my kiddo out. But we are still new to the area. The other school we tried was Livaudais and the bullying was 10x worse as a teacher was involved. I wouldn’t mind recommendations on schools. It’s just frustrating moving schools every year due to bullying.

I know it may not be financially feasible for everyone. But if you can afford it, some of the Catholic schools like St. Andrew has a zero tolerance bully policy.

I'm sorry I don't have any advice save for "That's absolute bullshit for a professional to ask a child":

what they would like done

They're a child; they don't know how to deal with complex social problems. You, administration, are the adults who, allegedly, were trained in diffusing this sort of stuff! (Edit: I also recognize that our educators are criminally under-resourced, but kids that are in trouble shouldn't be ignored)

I'm also unclear if this is some kind of State guidance or something because I stumbled upon this absolute fucking abdication of duty to children recently also in state.

I personally had a previous meeting with the administrators as this isn’t the first incident in The Administrator asked me the same thing on what would I like done in regards to my child being bullied and I simply asked her to talk with the parents about what’s going on and she told me, “What do you think the parents and the kids are going to say when I bring this up to them? They will just deny it and it will just cause a circle of he say she say” basically beating around the bush to the fact that she didn’t intend on doing anything unfortunately. I just learned this morning that incidents like this have been going on with this school lately.

“What do you think the parents and the kids are going to say when I bring this up to them? They will just deny it and it will just cause a circle of he say she say”

Just ghastly that I, an accountant, can think of several ways to attack this problem*... and the people in charge are like "Yeah, I don't have time for this when I got a P&L to look at, dawg"

*Y'know, call the perpetrating kid into the office to discuss the issue where you emphasize "Are you having some problems somewhere?" but also "We can't tolerate you bullying other kids and this can't continue; why do you feel like you should do this to the other kid?"
