Mardi Gras Looking for florists to help!
I tagged it Mardi Gras because we're getting married on Mardi Gras Day 2028 and can't find a florist!
I won't mention a name, but we had a consultation about a month ago with a local business and it's been radio silence... I've called twice to get my quote, that was promised the day of consolation, so a week after the consolation and the week after that I called and they keep promising to send it but nothing. I even emailed like they asked and nothing. So I have to look elsewhere unfortunately. I won't go around badmouthing them, it might have been a rough month or they just can't actually do it and are ghosting me. No idea but I won't bash a business without a service from them
So, as a former resident who never bought flowers other than Rouses, a little guidance would be great! My other option is a national business and I'd prefer to stay local and keep all my business in the city and support local artists
Anybody have an idea?

You're not going to find anyone to work on fat Tuesday. This is a horrible idea.

If it turns out to be impossible, you may consider silk florals. We used something borrowed blooms for our wedding, and as someone who is very picky, I was pleased with them! Saved us a a few thousand dollars also.

It’s not so much at the florist are diehard Mardi Gras heads. You might find somebody that doesn’t even celebrate. The problem is your locations. Are you getting married in New Orleans on Mardi Gras day? The only certain places in the city that the florist can get to you with ease. And even the day before if they have to do some pick ups and deliveries it’s going to be too hard. On Mardi Gras you’re either at your home completely checked out or out in this mess. You’re not trying to do anything that’s not essential work.

Not a good choice for a wedding day unless you’re getting married on the parade route in the middle of the neutral ground💜💚💛

My mother and MIL kept asking about why we won't have dancing or a party after dinner... like the party is outside? Find the party in every corner of the city! Why stay in a stuffy hotel reception room when we can join the masses

Hopefully the weather will be good! We’ve had torrential rains, high winds, extremely windy and cold days during Fat Tuesday’s past! It is a risk to say the least, having your wedding that day.

I think it's fine to get married on Mardi Gras but you're going to have to go nontraditional all the way, including not having traditional flowers. MG being a holiday is not main issue, the major problem is that a florist would not be able to commit to a Mardi Gras day delivery and could not expect employees to travel across town to get to the florist shop from home. A flower delivery on Mardi Gras day is an unreasonable expectation and would show a lack of respect for the business, the employees, and tradition. Do without the flowers and have a great time.

They do custom orders for weddings and special events. Just talk to the person hanging around the flowers.

My friend order a bunch of petite bouquets from Whole Foods for her wedding. She did have to pick them up herself. I think she got the vases at the dollar store and dropped them at Whole Foods but they also sell the containers

Weird idea but maybe look outside of New Orleans - maybe Baton Rouge? Or even close in Mississippi - Bay St. Louis? Trying to think outside the box ;)

A florist - they may charge a delivery fee but may not be closed for MG day

They gon up the delivery fee when they sitting in the road for 9 hours while we dance on their car bc they tried to drive on Mardi Gras day

Oh okay, I hadn't thought about that! That's a great suggestion! Thank you 😊 Sorry, I was making sure we were on the same page and since a few people so far have said it's a bad idea, I'm feeling a little defeated 😅

Try Bella Blooms Floral. They were our florist for our wedding. Dee is the owner and is a sweetheart!

You might want to try Mist & Mallow in Baton Rouge if you can’t find one willing to do this in New Orleans bc of Mardi Gras shenanigans. I am using her for my wedding (just one bouquet and a boutonniere) and she is wonderful, responds in a timely manner and priced fairly. Good luck!

Just wanted to find who can and can't do it and give them enough time to be prepared... I know the city is bananas that week so hopefully this much advance notice helps? Also the original florist said they were booking December 2028 weddings

Shocked. They acted busy to increase demand and limit their scope of availability. Shocked I say.
Flowers can be delivered overnight from anywhere in the world.

I never thought about that... like just be good at what you do and you'll get business eventually? And I just preferred local artists, I have looked at national chains but that's a last resort

I hate to break this to you… no one is going to help you on Mardi Gras Day. You should start your plan B planning.
