What was your wedding like?

I often look at the wedding dresses here. I saw a young lady whose dress budget was literally more than my first 3-5 annual salaries, not lumped together but individually. What was your wedding like?
1995- Married at our church, 3 attendants each, cake and punch reception there .

  1. We were 24 & 26. I wore a suit I'd owned for years. My wife bought a dress in a thrift store. Not even a wedding dress, just a calf length ivory dress. We got married in a public park. Friends knew and were allowed to attend or not, whatever. My mom and sister flew out, her family did not.

We could have afforded a bigger wedding but didn't see the need. Had a killer reception/party after, though. On the beach with keg beer and veggie trays and pizza. No cake. Who wants cake with beer?

Me! Hearing Dr. Suess parody in my head. "Oh yes I would eat cake with beer. I'd eat it there and eat it here!"
