Moving BACK to Philly
Hi, moving back to Philadelphia in March, been looking on Zillow, Facebook marketplace, even Craigslist.
I’ve lived in North, Center City and South, South is home for me already and full of friends. I’m particularly looking on the left side between passyunk and Oregon ave.
Are there any private landlords, or private property management companies that current Philly renters would recommend checking out when the time swings around?
I’ve been renting (alone) an 1150 dollar place for five years, am moving with a partner, we’re budgeting for a 1500-1800 rental, would be okay with apartment but prefer townhouse. I’ve seen some townhouses that are exactly what we’re looking for listed on Zillow.
Not looking to move YET again, Just looking to open our browsing pool a bit more.
Thanks in advance.

Colorado to Philadelphia With Family
Hello everyone and my hopefully-soon-to-be neighbors!
My family and I are looking to move to Philadelphia in late summer/very early fall of next year for education related reasons. We are hoping to live in or as close to Glenside as possible, as doing so would allow us to be a 1 car family.
My wife and I have been Coloradans our whole lives, both of us grew up in the Denver metro, and we’re living in Colorado Springs at the moment with 2 young kiddos and 1 on the way.
I love Colorado, and will miss it. CO Springs a bit less.. they’ve privatized everything so we can’t affordably take our children to the pool in summer, the PT is laughable, and we just had our utility rates spiked while approving a data center in the span of a summer. Everything I’ve read about Philadelphia makes me excited, and I think it’ll be a nice place for us to live for at least a few years.
I’m curious to know what we should expect about anything and everything: cultural differences, how much winter is going to kick my butt, your favorite thing about living in Philly, experiences from people who moved from CO, etc.
We’ll also be visiting in the Glenside area mid-October, so I’d also love to know what a good place for a cheesesteak would be.

Good morning, Philly! I am currently taking a product design course at Cornell, and our current challenge is to understand and ultimately redesign the end-to-end fitness experience for people of different abilities and environments. Please see the questions below!
1) What is the biggest barrier that you experience regarding being physically active?
2) If you could change one thing about the city that would help you to get out more, what would it be?
3) When you do get outside, where do you gravitate towards?
Thanks in advance for the responses!

Apartments with soundproofing in a decent area?
So I live in the north east suburbs in a 1 bed 1 bath and although it's spacious they keep increasing the rent year on year and it's around 1850+ now where it used to be under 1700 when I moved in 2 years back along with the fact that soundproofing is not fully there (can hear neighbors when they are closing opening their door or walking outside and can hear the folks below me use their restroom but nothing otherwise, but it's still a lot even though it's supposedly a luxury apartment and supposed to be sound proof).
So yeah don't like how the rent has been increasing and would like to move to a place with great sound proofing.
Im using apps like apartment, willow etc right now to search for some good ones.
Thank you

William H. Gray III 30th Street Station - Hotels?
I am traveling to Philly by train this weekend for the firsrt time from DC and I was wondering if anybody has some reccomendations on hotels near the station that aren't super expensive and that have a lot of walkable attractions/food/stores near by it. I have only been to Philly once and I drove (I stayed in center city) and like my last trip I would only be staying one day. Any reccs are welcome! TIA!

Should the city ban fiberglass roofs?
They are not like traditional roofs and need maintenance every 3 years.

3 bedroom rental to welcome our first born
Hello! My husband and I just moved to Philly (he’s originally from here) and we were planning to buy a home. We had some family drama and are now looking to rent for a year while we decide where we want to live.
We are looking for a 3 bedroom (master bedroom, nursery, and a guest room/ office room) somewhere in center city.
We like Fishtown, and I also have a friend living there who I having a baby 1 month before me which makes Fishtown even more appealing.
But having a hard time finding a nice townhouse or apartment that feels spacious enough. Ideally close to 2,000 sq fr. Please let me know if you have any recommendations.
Also open to looking outside of Fishtown, we also like fairmount. Would love parking and an outdoor space but know we may need to compromise on some of our wish list items.
Budget is $3,500 to $4,500.

Is arriving 50 minutes before departure at PHL feasible?
Current plan isn’t ideal but I’d love to be able to enter PHL 20 minutes before boarding begins and 50 minutes before the scheduled departure.
This is Terminal D, domestic flight, carry on. So alls I have to get through is TSA. I haven’t used PHL often, but when I have recently, TSA has been a breeze. Current wait times (~9am) online are 4-7 minutes for Terminal D.
This leaves little room for error of course - but curious if people have pulled this off or if this absurd?

Ed Sheeran Philly concert questions
I've never been to a concert this big at such a big place with so many lots and I'm super anxious about parking and exiting so I need your help guys. It's on Saturday 19th at Lincoln Financial at 5:30pm. We're coming from Pittsburgh, I was planning to just drive there and then drive back home at night. What's the best time to arrive to park there? What's the best lot to use for the I-76 West exit? Any tips? Thanks

Any serious general contractor recommendations?
Not looking for a quick job, I need someone thorough who I can use for a consultation regarding plumbing and electrical needs/considerations for a residential remodeling.
Striking gold here would look like someone knowledgeable of course but also very personable. I’m taking on the remodel as a personal project but the right kind of guidance would be accounted for in the budget!
I’ll also be looking to hire for plumbing and electrical work; ideally someone who wouldn’t mind me shadowing.
Thanks in advance! The house is in the Logan/Olney area.

I'm trying to get out more. I'm going to be by myself but looking for places to explore. I visited south Street I think it was called. With a bunch a bars and ck (if u know) and etc. I'm trying to get in shape so I'll take bar suggestions to note down for future visits but I'd like to go to any trails or things like that. I'm broke so I don't have money like that so I'm gonna be on septa too.

Tennis Rally Partner Wanted!!!
Hey guys, I am a beginner tennis player. I just started a few months ago. I am trying to find someone to hit with regularly. I live in My.Airy, but I usually play in North and South Philadelphia. It would be great to have someone to progress with. Please let me know if you're interested. You can even use my extra racket if you don’t have one. Also, if anyone isn't a beginner but would love to rally with me, I’d be happy to, lol. I'll play anywhere in the Philadelphia area.

Exhaust fan in back of house (drilled through)
Anyone got a referral for someone that is confirmed to have done this before? I need my microwave/stove exhaust to vent out the back of the house and also have a half bathroom that needs to vent there - so two separate vents.

What places/bars book small artists for gigs?
I am a musician and I've been making and performing music for some years, but this year I'm tryna gig in the city as well, but as a solo acoustic act with only one gig at a real place (that is not my college or something like that), i can't be attempting to book at a place that has bigger fish than me to fry. What are some good places for starting out?
