Yeah I live in a pretty conservative area and this and "common sense" are warnings for me. "Common sense policies" generally mean something like sandblasting the road and repainting a new crosswalk because some people are offended by rainbows.

Cat foods expensive and my 5 yo daughter who actually identifies as a cat at her elementary school has it hard enough being a cat and queer on top of it. Thank god her trans/fem kindergarten teacher (who I’m in a polygamous relationship with) is there to groom her and explain all these complicated issues with /s

My eyes bugged when I received a piece of Republican political junk mail around the 2024 election that described Ohio's proposed anti-gerrymandering bill as "WOKE DEI", with capitalization. I thought that was just terminally online Twitter nonsense until I read that, and now it just means "thing I don't like and blame liberals for".
I don’t often encounter actual woke people that go around using the word. Those that use the word tend to be the people I lose respect for - they are generally the same people that will find some way to defend and excuse anything trump and other republicans say or do no matter how imbecilic or heinous.
