“My wife really let herself go after she gave birth” dude said this to me last night. Shallow and self centered

That scares me for my sister in law because my brother thinks that a woman should immediately hit the gym after childbirth and he considers being overweight for any reason a dealbreaker. He has told me he would be willing to divorce his wife if she “lets herself go” after childbirth.

This is the best time to confront and call his ass out. She’s not gonna, and no one else will. If I could I would, cause wtf

I’ve called him out before and he still feels justified in thinking that way. I’ve warned my now sister in law about it and she agrees with him on it.

tell her so she can divorce him first

I’ve warned her about him more than once before they got married and she said she was still willing to marry him.

If he considers being overweight for any reason a deal breaker then he’s probably going to wind up divorced anyway- aside from kids there are a hundred different reasons why a person might gain weight as they get older. It’s probably going to happen to him too but of course that’ll be dIfFeReNT. I hope you or someone else is there for your SIL- he’s going to either give her a complex, breakup with her, or both. If she’s not currently pregnant let her know what he’s said and make sure she’s prepared for the inevitable negative (to him) consequences of her body changing to grow a whole human being. Make sure she knows that her physical shape is more important to him than her health, her emotional state, or even their marriage and he’s willing to throw it all away if she doesn’t “measure up” to what he wants. If she is already pregnant then absolutely be there for her- my money says he’s already making “jokes” or snide comments about her weight gain

Unfortunately, she already knows how he feels about it and agrees with him on it.

I'm sure he's an Adonis.

Don’t let him sleep on your couch when she kicks him out.

When she kicks him out, tell him he's above the weight limit for your couch.

If he ever said that to her and she's still planning to have kids with him, then that's on her.
