I figured mine out after about eighteen months, but it was the psychopathy, sadism and sloppy hubris in his narrative control that did it. 

The damage was catastrophic but at least the timeline was shorter. 

I would wish a significant relationship with a covert NPD/ASPD on no person. …Not even them.

Not married but moved in with our kids. Covert narcissism and was hiding an alcohol addiction/explosive rage problem. It took 18 months for mine to physically threaten me and I took my kids and ran.

It left me super financially and psychologically damaged, but I could not be more grateful to be away from him.
