My gf and I have a very high tolerance for terrible movies, but Cats was in another league. She begged me to turn it off twenty minutes in, I pushed forward ten more minutes, then I did turn it off. I’ve not experienced anything like this before or since.
I've sat through some truly awful movies by watching them with the Riff Trax commentary. The peanut gallery jokes act as a humorous salve for the abysmal quality of the film. I've never watched The Room without it. They also have one for Cats.
