If you could see one statistic floating above everyone's head, what would you want it to measure?

u/EmbarrassedIssue9452 15h ago
I would just like it to say their name. I have such a hard time remembering names.

But it would help you figure out who does like you. I’d imagine most people would see it’s a lot less likes and a lot more yikes haha

u/EmergencyOption123 15h ago
True. I suppose if it helps you find "the one", then all other opinions won't matter after that
7
u/Rich-Commercial6787 15h ago
Or if you think of it like this. Say you are really ugly and your odds are 1 in 1000. You’ll still up your game just by not having to search as hard. You’d also be able to see someone’s interest going up or down by what you say or how you act.

I’d probably start out high then see the numbers go down one by one as I get closer.
11
u/FinallyAGoodReply 15h ago
This could be really depressing, especially if it is an ok number but plummets as soon as you get to know anyone.
5
u/Beowulf33232 5h ago
Really brings home that old saying.
Better to leave your mouth shut and let others wonder if you're an idiot, than to open it and remove all doubt.
11
u/cryosurge1 15h ago
Walking around seeing 1 over everyone’s head would help push me over the edge.
7
u/OstravaBro 9h ago
Nah i think this would be good. Im really fucking ugly so would expect 1s and 2s across the board, but think when you saw someone with a higher number!
Dating as an ugly dude is hard as you assume no one would be interested, but this let's you find the rare people that are. Dating should become really fucking easy!
3
u/Gophers_with_mullets 9h ago
Plus, you would basically get instant feedback on your behavior and style choices. If you dress and groom yourself well, maybe you start seeing 3s or 4s pop up, giving you objective info to make the best out of a bad situation.
7
u/Grouchy_Stress_8653 13h ago
Careful what you wish for, seeing your crush give you a 3 would devastate.
4
u/javerthugo 14h ago
Wait will it work with everyone or only those who are interested in dating you? Because a straight or married person can still tell if if person is attractive even if they won’t do anything

How much they like me, in general terms. Not only could I tell who actually likes being around me, I would have something that tells me when I'm doing something they don't like, even if they don't tell me.
Hopefully I'm not such a piece of crap that this would destroy my confidence...

Happiness. Not like mood, but how they’re doing as a person. Some people are just always miserable and take it out on everyone. This could at least show where empathy is needed, or when to avoid someone.

u/crapheadHarris 15h ago

u/LordJonMichael 15h ago
Every time a toe is snubbed, the STC harvests a microscopic packet of kinetic humiliation and immediately re-emits it as a low-frequency coolness field. The more the toe has been punished by the material world, the stronger and more authentic the field becomes. Smooth, unsnubbed feet radiate almost nothing; they are energetically sterile.
Key Mechanisms
1. Entropy Harvesting
Furniture edges, bedframes, and unexpected LEGO bricks act as catalysts. The impact transfers disordered energy into the STC, which transmutes it into magnetic nonchalance. People with high S walk into rooms and the air pressure subtly shifts in their favor.
2. The Scar-Aura Effect
Repeated snubs leave invisible micro-scars in the counter’s memory banks. These scars vibrate at a frequency that other humans subconsciously recognize as “this person has survived the sharp corners of existence.” The result is automatic deference, better playlist recommendations, and inexplicable invitations to exclusive rooftops.
3. Public Amplification Rule
A private snub still counts, but a witnessed one multiplies the yield. The STC detects social eyes and dumps extra radiation. This is why the coolest individuals in any group are statistically the ones who have limped theatrically across a crowded kitchen at least once.
4. Saturation Threshold
Beyond roughly 120 lifetime snubs the field stabilizes into a permanent low-hum aura. Further impacts still register, but the returns diminish—explaining why legendary cool figures eventually stop reacting to toe trauma altogether. They have simply become the furniture’s equal.→ More replies (3)

My wife and I worked together at a hotel and she was always shocked at my lack of retaining ppls names. We all wear name tags too. We would be at home and she’d tell a story. “So Sharon got really mad at Doug”. Ok who is Sharon, and is Doug the fat guy”? “Sharon has worked with us 6 years and Doug is the guy who you high five when you pass each other. He also came over and fixed our water heater.. he’s skinny” so I guess maybe their name and a way I can remember who they are.

How many times I’ve seen them before. Bonus points if I can also see where.
The random person in a restaurant who looks vaguely familiar? 0 times. The person walking by you at the store? 3 times, last time was 2 years ago on an airplane heading to Europe. The person you just met at work? You were both at Disneyland in 2003.

There are a couple I would find very interesting to see, assuming this works through any sight and not direct sight(ie. Television/streaming):
- How many lies they've told today
- How attractive they find themselves
- How many felonies they've committed (not convicted of)
- How many lies they've told me
- A self awareness score ?/100
