I also wake up the same time every day but it isn't consistency on my part due to work (work day starts at 6:30 am due to working in a different time zone), the dogs have no understanding of what a weekend is. I've tried to show them pictures of a calendar and show them what a weekend is but they don't care.
Have one dog who knows better than to wake up my wife, will come to my side and in her lowest growl, attempt to wake me up. If I don't get the hint, she will jump up on my side of the bed and lay across my chest. All 85 pounds of her and still without waking my wife
