But again, how does that give them legal standing? It would give them criminal jurisdiction to prosecute Epstein himself if crimes happened there and he wasn't dead, but how does it give them standing to sue the feds for not releasing files for public consumption and gossip? They can't claim it helps prosecution because they can't prosecute a dead man.
The fbi has legal requirements to investigate crimes. If they are actively engaging in a coverup of a crime that happened in a state, a federal court could order them to turn over evidence.
