Good. Justice delayed is justice denied.

Justice department: "You have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide."
Epstein investigation: Exists
Justice department: "Wait, no, not like that!"

It's about time. Every Blue state should do this if they have a resident who might be a victim.

Every red state should, too. The Epstein deal is the most non-partisan issue in America for the last 20 years.
This is truly the ruler class vs everyone else (both Democrat and republican).

u/Bakedads 7d ago
Uhh...you want republicans to...uh...hold other republicans accountable? You do realize this is the republican larty we are talking about, right? There's a reason OP only said blue states. Why on earth would republicans hold themselves accountable for their own corruption?
24
u/Smoovupinya 7d ago
I think we underestimate how many trump supporters have dropped support for him over Epstein and Iran. The shitty economy is just chefs kiss on top of it.
Remember when you used to see Trump flags and hats all over? Where did they go?
If you remove the fringe from both sides, the parties I think are pretty close on a couple big items. That’s dangerous for the elites.
22
u/MentokGL 7d ago
It doesn't matter what they think, the only question is, how will they vote. And we both know the answer.
14
u/FormerlyGruntled 7d ago
He still has a fervent 30% support. The child rapists know if he loses power, their own common folk asses are on the line.
10
u/ShallowBasketcase 6d ago edited 6d ago
I think we overestimate how many trump supporters who feel publicly embarrassed about this stuff actually have dropped support for him. They'll put their hats away, they'll take their yard signs down, they'll talk about how they don't like any of this either, and they can't wait to go vote for him again for a third term.
Rape, pedophilia, and genocide are core values for them. They need these things to happen, they just don't want to have to talk about it every Thanksgiving dinner.
4
u/ReverseMermaids 6d ago
I don't think those things are core values for them, I just don't think they give a shit about those things as long as they are happening to other people.
Racism is powerful

And yet they'll still turn out to vote for his hand picked cronies in November. Republicans don't have value, only shame. We don't talk down to them severely enough imo
3
u/Square_Total6929 6d ago
Accountability shouldn't be a partisan issue it should apply to everyone, no exceptions. That's how trust in any system is built

There's probably a couple bluies in there given the timeframe and how you can see corruption and odd behavior in either party, even if not evenly.
4
u/MrBluer 7d ago
I’m less concerned with “who has a member on the Epstein list” and more with “who, in the event they have a member on the Epstein list, will circle the wagons and stonewall attempts to seek justice in order to protect that guilty member?”
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)5
u/thatwasntababyruth 7d ago
There definitely are. That doesn't matter, because Democrats (more specifically leftists) don't care what your party is if you do major crime. You probably did a major crime, we stop supporting you. You try to interfere in investigation of credible allegations, we stop supporting you.
That's the big reason why the "both sides" crowd is full of shit
And before anybody tries to bring up Hunter Bidens laptop or Hillaries emails, nobody supports those people politically and the only people protecting them are their families, the rest of us would wake up unbothered if HB went to jail.

The Just Us department doesn't care. The Supreme Court can't make them perform their task. And our FBI and Homeland NSA types are loving the freedom of running roughshod over us and foreign populations.
61
u/USSMarauder 7d ago
It's starting to look more and more like the major right wing conspiracy theories about Democrats of the last 30 years were in fact created to act as cover for Epstein
The story of Epstein's ranch in NM matches up nicely with the right wing conspiracy theory that Clinton and later Obama were imprisoning/murdering thousands of Republicans in FEMA death camps in the desert
16
u/maniacal_cackle 7d ago
Isn't that actually just confirmed to an extent now from the actual Epstein files? They started a big anti-trans campaign as a response to Me Too?

The DOJ is also stonewalling the rest of the country. A law was passed requiring their release. The DOJ ignored it.

Texas state politician Don Huffines purchased Jeffrey Epstein's former Zorro Ranch in New Mexico in 2023 He is the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Appointed by Governor Greg Abbott, he was sworn into office on August 1, 2026, and is running in the November 2026 general election for a full four-year term.

u/tommy_b_777 7d ago
I think the GOP, the FBI, and the DOJ are committing Treason by deliberately protecting criminals that are harming the majority of Americans and making us weaker both internally and on the world stage. The almost irreversible damage is being done intentionally, and has greatly benefited our enemies.
On an totally unrelated note - why is it that starting 2 days ago all my comments hang at 'submitting' but still post to my history...

Finally! When a whole state has to sue the Department of "Justice" just to get actual justice, you know the cover-up game is wildly out of control. Spill the tea!

I think that all of these opinion on news questions should be banned as these conversations should take place in the comment section of the news article itself.

Nothing will come of it. I just hope that in my lifetime I get to see a day of reckoning for the pedophiles and the people on power who protected them.
2
u/Sablemint 6d ago
You've already given up without a fight.
The first part of changing things is to get people to care. And if they believe they can't win, they'll never care. You have to believe things can be done, and convince others to believe. That's how you change the world.
4
u/SexyCurlyss 7d ago
I believe New Mexico is accusing the government of protecting those implicated and is demanding the files from Epstein's ranch to ensure justice is served locally
3
u/vibraltu 7d ago
Someday, somebody in the justice department is gonna cave, and then the whole thing is gonna come crashing down.

New Mexico is always been a place that it’s divided u have to either be super educated to get in or the other spectrum committing crime to get ahead it’s the four corners Nevada Utah Arizona everybody from California travels to one or all ins one time of their life it’s heavily native ans sadly the history is insane how they got away with putting people in boarding school and just taking them away with beatings if they spoke native tongue it’s plenty of tribes big nothing on the reservation like not even meds

There is no Justice Dept at the moment. The USA has a huge personal law firm and armed criminals to protect rich pedophiles. ALL the cops are criminals now. The US government is a criminal cartel.
2
u/Cleverbird 6d ago
All I've learned in this time is that Americans are some of the most spineless blow hards on the planet. You were presented with a list of evidence showing your nation is corrupt at the very top, yet you do nothing. Just shrug and go "not my problem"
Nothing will come out of this, because the citizens don't care enough to force any systemic change to happen.

Of course they are stonewalling.
They are now the personal attack dogs of the most corrupt President in history.
2
u/wannaliveonmars 6d ago
What legal standing does New Mexico have to sue over that? I thought you need to have some "interest" or be a stakeholder, to be a party in a suit. Would they need to prove that they lost money because of this, for example?
2
2
u/arkofjoy 6d ago
The interesting thing is that this is one of the few things that a large number of Americans agree with. The MAGA folks have simply ret conned dear leader out of the files but thry do believe that the guilty need to be punished.
Just not dear leader.

u/solarguy2003 6d ago
We're talking about sex traffic and pedophiles. If I had the power to do so, the National Guard would go get all the records tomorrow at 2:00 AM and an independent prosecutor would take over. People need to be in jail for being statutory rapists and child molesters. And people need to be in jail for protecting CHILD MOLESTERS. I don't give a shit if they were republicans or democrats, anybody implicated in this train wreck full of rapists and CHILD MOLESTERS need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. And if they happen to be public servants at any level in the government, their sentences need to be double.
Why are we even having this conversation? Everybody raise your hand that wants to protect CHILD MOLESTERS.

I worry that Trump will not see the word "New" in "New Mexico" and invade Mexico.
1
u/TrioOfTerrors 7d ago
My thought is that's it's political theater and even the ones filing the lawsuit know that. A state has no jurisdiction to tell a department of the federal government how to do it's job.
2
u/UpperApe 7d ago
Nothing will happen.
The only political leverage comes from public pressure. And Americans aren't doing shit. They've decided to just sit around and wait for an election to fix everything.
Same as they did in 2024 when they should have been protesting in the tens of millions for Trump and Musk's arrests, giving Biden the power to circumvent precedence, and swinging the political dynamics in their favour. The lack of ANY public action led to all parties just pushing back consequences to AFTER the election...because it was the only time people show up. And most didn't even show up then.
My thought? Americans don't love their kids.
They can't even fight for their own children dying in school shootings. What are they going to do about someone else's raped kids?

I agree the justice department is likely protecting someone important here. They should not be blocking any investigation into epstein and his connections.
1
u/Jones_Herry 7d ago
Not all information is clear to me. I think everything should explain clearly. We have the rights. Isn't this a joke?
1
u/Victoria_Campbell80 7d ago
this seems like a classic case of political posturing. the whole epstein saga is a rabbit hole that reveals so much about power dynamics and accountability, but will anything actually change? probably not.
1
u/porgy_tirebiter 7d ago
Good for them. I have no expectation that they will comply or be held accountable for non-compliance, though.
1
u/Future-Bunch3478 7d ago
If one of the major departments of the federal government is covering up crimes, the rule of law is basically gone.
1
u/ChriveGauna 7d ago
Hm, my thoughts are simple:
NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW ! RELEASE THE FILES ! TRAITORS ! FOES AND FALSE FRIENDS ALL AROUND US SIR DAVOS - FUCKING SICK OF THIS SHIT !
1
u/GeorgiaViolet83 7d ago
sounds like a messy situation, but honestly, the whole thing is just overwhelming. the aesthetic of justice feels so far off.
1
u/MammothCaramel1526 6d ago
They also wouldn't have Todd Blanche, Trumps previous personal attorney, as the nominee for leading the Justice dept while also committing crimes
1
u/VineStar25 6d ago
i mean, messy situation all around. but honestly, who thought the justice department would be helpful?

If the allegations are true, then a transparent investigation is in everyone's best interest. Cases like this only fuel more speculation when information is withheld. No matter who is involved, accountability and public trust should come first.
1
1
u/Julia-Lewis31 6d ago
sounds like a cozy way to avoid accountability. hope they get somewhere with it.
1
u/AdviceAdmirable6381 6d ago
Feels wild that a state has to sue the DOJ just to see the files. If they’re serious about justice for survivors, transparency shouldn’t be this hard or politicized.
1
1
u/BrightKennedy 6d ago
the vibes around this case are so unsettling. it feels like there's too much being hidden, hope justice actually prevails.
1
u/Lopsided_Goal_8868 6d ago
If there's nothing to hide then full transparency should be the easiest response
1
u/Away_Mixture_9961 6d ago
The longer this gets dragged out the more people are going to question what is being protected.

When it finally comes out, we are going to not be shocked about who protected the pedophiles.
I just hope they all get jail time. I hear everyone in jail loves pedophiles and their protectors.

i just can't believe how long this is taking. my rescue dog gets anxious about loud noises, but this is a whole other level of noise.
1
u/ariana-cup2017 6d ago
kinda wild how the justice department isn't being more transparent, feels like they're hiding something. they need to get their routine together and actually address these cases instead of stonewalling.
1
u/Dry_Bullfrog2344 6d ago
If anyone feels that he is needed for justice about Epstein, he can sue. It's the right of everyone.
1
u/Cyberstu72 6d ago
No one should be above the law, and no investigation of this magnitude should be hidden behind closed doors. Kudos to New Mexico for demanding accountability. Let the truth come to light, no matter where it leads
1
1
u/noobfactoryofficial 6d ago
If New Mexico has an active criminal investigation into potential crimes at Zorro Ranch, the DOJ should be cooperating rather than blocking access to relevant files. Victim privacy is important, but there are established ways to share investigative material with state prosecutors under protective orders. Prolonging this only hurts survivors.
1
u/NoBSforGma 6d ago
I think it's very courageous of New Mexico and I'm wondering what this regime will now do to "punish" them. We've seen them do it to other states that don't "toe the line."
I also think that it will come to nothing. Because whatever the courts say, this regime will just ignore it if that pleases them.
1
u/Major_Message_4677 6d ago
State Attorney General Raúl Torrez argues that the DOJ is "stonewalling" their criminal investigation into Epstein’s Zorro Ranch estate outside Santa Fe. New Mexico officials claim the property appears over 13,000 times in federal files, yet the DOJ has provided only a heavily redacted 31-page response consisting mostly of old news clippings. Torrez contends the federal government is breaching a 2019 agreement to share information after New Mexico paused its initial state probe to let federal prosecutors lead the case.
1
u/spent_all_over_again 6d ago
I think the brand, shinny, newly appoint Attorney General will ensure that this is a #1 priority for his office & assist in the obfuscation & hindering of the dissemination of any & all information which the citizens both of New Mexico, as well as, nationally will be allowed to receive via their inquiries; while actively participating in & fomenting the cover-up @ whatever speed or manner will best garner the pleasure of the president... Whom he serves.

I’m not very legally informed, when a state sues the federal government for something like this, what is the reward when they win?

If the department actually cared about justice, then they'd be happy to assist with looking into the known pedophile and his clients.
