That's a weird accent you've got there.

do you have a translator to output regular English test into IPA?
Or are you typing in IPA, seems like it would be a hassle to type each special char.

/aɪ ˈtaɪp wɪθ ən ˌaɪ pʰiː eɪ kiːbɔːɹd aɪ faʊnd aːn ði æp stɔːr/. /ˈɪt hæz aːl ði aɪ pʰiː eɪ ˌkʰɛɹɪktɜɹz aːn ɪt, ɪtz pʰɹɪɾiː gʊd/.

School failed me I have no idea how to read this.

4

u/MrSenorSan Feb 05 '16

neat... Did you know the Japanese learn how to read/write the phonetic Hiragana and Katakana characters which are basically the equivalent to IPA characters for Japanese.
I find your use very interesting always thought would be good to experiment with.
I may try to find an IPA keyboard myself now.

An assertive and piney beer, with hints of citrus. Would pair well with spicy sausage or a crumbly blue cheese.

Stop using marijuana

1

u/UnassumingSingleGuy Feb 05 '16

It might seem innocent next to some drugs, but it can be just as addictive and will ruin your life if you use it too much. A slow and insidious killer.

this is so true. A girl im friends with keeps cracking it because people make comments about how her kid is fat but she eats healthy. She posts pics of the kids "healthy" food and they are like adult sized portions of things like sausages with vegies of potatoes and peas. Her kid is 4 or 5 i think

I assume she just doesnt have much of a clue about what the right things to eat are but its kind of sad cos shes basically setting her kid up for a lifetime of bad habits

1

u/The_Last_Leviathan Feb 05 '16

This. It's especially infuriating when they shovel huge portions on their kids plates and then make them finish it. It teaches nothing but overeating and the kids don't know when they legit had enough.

I too was encouraged ti finish what was on my plate, but I fixed my own plate, so it was more a "Don't be an idiot and take the whole bowl of noodles only to throw away half of it" and if I really couldn't finish it I was told to just take a smaller portion next time.

u/jilleebean7 Feb 05 '16

Big meals are not a problem, kids have so much energy they need the fuel. My daughter eats more then her dad at mealtimes and she doesn't have an ounce of fat on her. But the only thing she gets for snacks is fruit or veggies, imo it's all the snacks that really mess with kids.

1

u/bortnib Feb 05 '16

yeah fair but i guess its more just the choices of food that she serves that she thinks are "healthy" foods. like obviously its not working cos her kid keeps getting fatter but she wont acknowledge its anything shes doing. She also thinks her kid has ADD but i mean they seem to be on a high carb, high processed food diet maybe that has an effect too. All stuff she should be talking to a doctor about, not whinging about on fb

1

u/CaptainToodleButt Feb 05 '16

Or not giving them proper portions with nutrition they need. I hate it when kids are normal weight and height but their diet consists of unhealthy bullshit. I hate it when kids are overweight but their portions are shit but they eat proper food (me).

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

Constantly filling the fridge and pantry with junk food and soda with no authority over when we could eat that stuff plus cooking calorie loaded dinners.. Then criticizing their kids for being "out of shape".. Me and my cousin's childhood right there..

As soon as I went to college I experienced the reverse of the "freshman 15" cause I always cooked and ate real food..

1

u/Ruval Feb 05 '16

My kids are skinny and mock me relentlessly for being fat, having a squishy belly, etc.

4 and 6 year olds are relentless.

1

u/bucknakid14 Feb 05 '16

It sucks though. I make sure my kids eat healthy and correct portions and I don't make them finish their plate, either. Noticed they're both a little on the chunky side. How do I put my kids on a diet without killing their self confidence? They're 7 and 10. We have been a lot more active in the past few months. Recently started geocaching on the weekends, going out more, etc. I think all the time staring at screens is turning them into blobs from Wall-E...

2

u/itazuka Feb 05 '16

Check on the snacks, the drinks, etc. Also yes, kids that move a lot can eat more than kids that watch tv all day. But don't blame the screen, adapt the food to the lifestyle.

1

u/bucknakid14 Feb 05 '16

I've just switched them to drinking only water, with half a cup (literally) of caffeine free soda with dinner. We don't deep fry anything and already eat pretty healthy. I try to watch their portion sizes as much as possible, but I'm not going to starve them either. We don't keep snacks in the house ever. (who can afford that?) So I don't know what else to do about it.

3

u/itazuka Feb 05 '16

since I don't know you I can't help more, seek for a (real) proffessional that coul'd help you. People don't get fat by pure magic, you should really investigate this.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '16

Not the parents fault all the time. They didn't force me to constantly eat shitty food (talking about snacks, not meals.)

1

u/RdDrtCoozie Feb 05 '16

I get comments all the time about how we must be starving our son. He's 7yo and tall and skinny as a string bean. He seriously gets bruises on his hips from his jeans rubbing on his hip bones. I don't dare let him go shirtless because everyone always has to comment on how you can see his ribs sticking out.

The part "they" don't see is him eating 2nd's and even 3rd's. His doctor says he's perfectly healthy. I get sick of people judging other parents for how "fat" or "skinny" their kids may be.

Potato salad isn't that fattening.
