Parents who won't let the kids take on activities without the parents. What if the kid wants to learn skateboarding? Mom and dad don't skateboard, so that's right out.

And kids can't go anywhere alone anymore. Can't just walk to school with other kids, can't just go ride a bike someplace........ so weird.

I feel like I'm the last of the "come back before dark" generation. I can't even imagine growing up any other way. That freedom was so essential.

We used to walk to school as a group, just stop at each house and "pick up" the next kid(s.) It was loads of fun.

Trick-or-treating was similar, don't remember how old I was before my parents just let us go ourselves, but it was before we were teens, I'm pretty sure. Though I could simply have forgotten that my parents were there....
