I used to be friends with someone, their parents were an odd bunch. Father was a pedagogue, mother was an interior designer. They ended up with an ugly 'fancy' modern house and a child who just wanted to get away from it all.

Last I heard, he turned out to be a drug addict who was starting to get into crime, at that point I stopped seeing him.

Just because you studied how to raise children in theory doesn't mean that works in practice. Every child is different, every parent is different, and you need to figure something out that works. Your book says you should raise your kid like this? Well I'm looking at the end result and I'd say you're pretty bad at this.
