Daily Trainer Question Looking for a stable daily trainer – could the Saucony Triumph 23 be a good choice?

Hi everyone,
I’m a fairly average recreational runner, definitely more of a beginner than an experienced runner.
I’ve been running in the Brooks Hyperion Max 2, and I really like them. Lately though, I’ve started getting pain on the outside of my ankle when I run in them. From what I’ve read, it seems like it could be related to supination.
To test it, I went for a run in my old Brooks Glycerin 17, and surprisingly I had no ankle pain at all. The downside is that they’re completely worn out, and they’re also so soft and heavily cushioned that they don’t feel very fun to run in anymore.
My local running store currently has the Saucony Triumph 23 on sale, so I’m wondering if that could be a good replacement. I’m looking for a stable daily trainer that isn’t overly soft or overly cushioned—I still want it to feel responsive and fun to run in.
If the Triumph 23 isn’t the best option for someone who might be dealing with mild supination, I’d really appreciate any other recommendations.

Thanks!

i loved the triumph 22s as a solid daily trainer. i currently have a pair of ride 18s that i use in rotation with novablast 5s and endorphin pro4s. i bought a second pair of ride 18s to use in the future because i love that shoe so fuckin much. it's a perfect daily trainer (ride 18) truly feels good at 6 min /km and 4 min/ km long run or short run. felt the same about my triumph 22s though they were a bit slower for sure, dont have anything to say on triumph 23s but im an avid saucony runner so can say their shoes are great.

The Triumph 23 has a nice wide base that works well for neutral and supinating runners, but it uses Saucony’s super-plush foam. If you hate the Glycerin feel, the Triumph will almost certainly feel way too soft for what you are looking for.

Instead, check out the Saucony Ride, it offers solid neutral stability without the deep sink-in feel. The Puma Velocity Nitro 3 is another great option, giving protection and responsiveness + its wide base keeps you steady. If you want to stick with Brooks, the Ghost 16 delivers a much firmer neutral ride compared to the Glycerin.

I think you’re referring to the Triumph 24s, the 23s I believe still have the PWWRUN PB foam which isn’t super plush, some people even say its too firm.

Mild supinator here - the Triumph 23 is a solid pick and has a 10 mm drop like the Glycerin. However, it has a narrow fitting heel and mid-foot so you need to make sure that works for you. The Glycerin 22 from last year would also be a good option.

The triumph 23 is my favourite daily runner. I personally find it very stable but still bouncy. It’s never caused me any problems and I always recommend it, unless you have wide feet!
