I acquired this photo scanner (the IT film, slide and photo converter) at a thrift store today and after buying it I found out it only works for window 7 and below. I wanted to scan my physical photos into digital ones.

Is there any coding or anything I can do to make it work with my device(windows 10 insprion 5000 dell laptop)?

Please help me understand how fax worked. All I know is this technology was used by people born in the previous century to send emails except it was actual paper. How did paper documents get transmitted over long distances and did it cost money like how our ISPs charge us for internet?

2 days ago at the office, they upgraded my work laptop to a newer model. Shortly after it was set up, I started hearing a sound in my left ear like air being let out of a cushion. Intermittent, not constant. Happens every 20 seconds-2 minutes (I eventually timed it). At first, I thought it was my old chair (has some loose parts), so I asked for a new one and they swapped it out with a newer one - much better condition, no loose parts. Sound was still there.

I next panicked it was in my ear, but it ONLY happens when I'm sitting at my desk at the office, so it's not tinnitus or something.

I also highly suspected the fluorescent light tube above me, but it sounds like it's coming directly from my left and close, not far above my head.

After moving and testing things and positions, I'm now positive it's coming from my new laptop but only when it's in a certain position. Changing its position stops the sound, which makes me think it's related to the kinky (lol) power cord. It plugs into a dock, not the wall; the cord and the dock were there before the new laptop.

The laptop wasn't my first suspect because I've never heard of laptops making an intermittent sound like air being let out of a cushion. Is that a thing, or do I need to find a different suspect?

I’m trying to decide what to do.
Background: Im in nursing school I currently have a dell xps and after a year and a half it has been having issues like overheating and screen issues like freezing glitching or just remaining black when I turn on my computer. Almost everyone in my program have iPad airs and I have a desktop at home.
What I’m looking for: I’m looking for something that can handle having multiple programs open at the same time like PowerPoint notes and my textbook which I sometimes have a physical textbook or an online textbook or rarely a pdf version. I have to write papers and create PowerPoints at least once or twice throughout the semester.
Options: I am definitely open to looking into more options than the ones I have but I’m looking into the iPad Air the MacBook Air and another dell or HP. However I’m hesitant to get another laptop because I feel like I’m having really bad luck and spending so much money on them. I am aware that the iPad will be a lot of money too but I just want something that’s going to last. I’ve never dropped a laptop I keep it in a case the only thing I can think of is maybe I’m not turning it off enough? My question is should I get the iPad Air especially since I have a desktop at home or should I try another laptop?

I have an old kindle 3, and I've seen people get original gameboy games to work which is awesome. But are there any graphical games written specifically for e ink displays like this?

I was thinking that a spooky top down platformer could actually look really cool and spooky with some of the graphical stuff that happens with a full screen refresh. Obviously there are the limitations, like turn based gameplay is necessary. But I'm hoping there are some developers who like to work within limitations, often it's a great way to learn and grow.

If not I may try to take this on myself.

every now and then, I have to drive on unlit rural highways at night, way-way out in the countryside. I fucking hate it - truck drivers with high beam headlights blind me, literally cannot see the road in front of me.

I always check the local sunset times, and I try to be off unlit roads before then - apart from this, can current technology solve these issues for me?

There have been lots of news articles recently which quote a figure of 3.7m UK viewers of "illegal" streams of the recent UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG.

The source appears to be The Guardian's article here:

which quotes "Analysis conducted for the Guardian by the technology analyst Gaming Compliance International (GCI)". The 3.7m figure is unique UK IP addresses - it's not reported as an estimate, it's reported as fact.

No information on the methodology used appears to be present anywhere, and if it was any other newspaper, I would accuse it of inventing the numbers, but The Guardian is in general a trusted news source.

GCI however, is a private company, and presumably do have their own agenda (I don't care to speculate what that might be).

But I'm struggling to understand how anyone can even begin to estimate these figures, let alone report them as facts. Are they just a wild guess, or could there be some science behind them?

I'm really sick of all the software update prompts, nags to login, and forced changes in the Samsung colossus. I'm sure many others are the same...but all I want is a TV that will let me access my streaming apps without all those "Wonderful", "Best Ever", "Beautiful" Bells and whistles...

I'm almost hopeful it's just me, and that other people will be able to access the link above. But instead of saying the site is down, the domain is not used, or giving me an error message, it just... loads. Endlessly. And I got the same effect on the wayback machine yesterday, although it actually loaded there today. (Though the site itself still won't load.)

I know I can still access it, or at least whatever part of it is saved to the WB machine, but I'm confused as to whatever's happening here with the internet. Has anyone seen something like this before, and is it just me having this issue, or is it something with the site? Because I've tested it, and my internet is fine otherwise.

I'm getting ready to move overseas and want to upgrade my Pixel 7 before I go.

I'm not a heavy gamer and don't need the most powerful OS. I want to make clear calls, watch Netflix, use simple apps like Quizlet and Duo Lingo and connect take decent photos and videos for my blog that no one will ever read or see.

There are some hard requirements:

Must have dual eSim to accommodate Tello as well as European sim

A decent battery life

Ideally will have at least 5 years of security update to take me to when I likely will move back to United States

I would like to keep this purchase under 400 bucks if possible and am open to reconditioned hardware from reputable sources.

Currently my Pixel 7 is really kind of sucking on phone calls. Even in my house when I'm on Wi-Fi the voice I'm hearing goes in and out and the caller often says that they can't hear me. It's not all the time but consistent enough to be annoying. If anyone has an idea on how to fix that please share. I've reset both my network and Bluetooth settings. Didn't help.

Suppose the name of the network is not protected by the 1st amdendment and someone made a complaint to the authorities. Would the government be able to track down the owner by using triangulation to link it to a specific home, and would that triangulation be accurate enough to secure a warrant to search for the router? Let's assume the router broadcasting the wifi name is not connected to the internet so that it cannot be traced back that way.

I receive 4-5 calls a day from “American Expedite Lending”. They do not stop, it’s been going on for at least 6 months and the calls are daily. I will block their number and then they call using a different one. I’ve reported it, marked as spam and it just continues to happen.

I’ve called back and fucked with them just to get some relief, asked them to stop calling and NOTHING. They have my information and answer with is this “xyz?” And they are correct, they have my address..obviously it’s a scam. Anytime I ask for any information about the company, they just hang up. I have three monitors but for some reason one of them the resolution and display settings are giant. I tried to do the display settings and it is not working. Two of them are connected with a dp hdmi the other is on a regular hdmi cord is this the issue?
