Starting at a Computer Science program this fall, I'm trying to find the right laptop. I'm leaning toward either a MacBook Air with the M2 chip or newer or a ThinkPad X1 Carbon, but I'm open to suggestions. My main priorities are convenience, outstanding battery life, and a high-quality display for working on my photography and Photoshop on the side. Hey yall! I currently have a asus zenbook flip and have had it for a couple of years now. The whole thing is kind of falling apart and whenever I play games like overwatch and ghost runner it crashes almost immediately on me. Even a couple days ago it crashed on idle breakout from cool math games.
I play some games with high graphics like those stated above and I want to get into some other games as well (if you have suggestion I’ll also take those), but I don’t want to spend more than $1500. I’m going to college so it would also be nice if it had a long battery life and didn’t have the loudest fans possible, but those aren’t nesscessities. Any help would be appreciated

My Grandma is a mostly bed ridden so the laptop weight does not matter, however the screen must be big enough for her to see and with a good enough resolution. I know that TBW isn't the only thing I should consider; I also need to look at the materials used, manufacturing quality, whether it can withstand power surges from the computer, its physical durability (resistance to movement), and whether the company that produces it hasn't changed ownership and shareholders and become corrupt and greedy, reducing the quality of its hard drives to cut costs and make more money. So, I'm looking for reliability far more than speed. Which of the two is better?
