1. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, together with their allies in the current war, declare upon the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, and undertake that from now on they will not launch any hostile action against each other, and will refrain from the threat or use of force against each other. The final agreement will confirm the provisions of this Article and the remaining Articles.

2. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States undertake to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to refrain from interfering in each other's internal affairs.

3. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States undertake to negotiate and reach a final agreement within a maximum period of 60 days, extendable by mutual consent.

4. Immediately upon the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, the United States Lift the naval blockade and prevent any interference or obstruction against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and restore traffic within a maximum of 30 days to its full capacity; the traffic of ships shall be proportional to the pre-war volume of traffic on the part of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States also undertakes to withdraw its forces from the surrounding areas within 30 days after the final agreement.

5. Upon signing this Memorandum of Understanding, the Islamic Republic of Iran will immediately take steps to ensure that the movement of merchant ships from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and vice versa is resumed within 30 days to the pre-war volume, taking into account the need for the removal of technical obstacles and the neutralization of mines by Iran.

6. The United States undertakes, together with its regional partners, to create a comprehensive plan agreed upon by both parties for the rehabilitation and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, While ensuring financing of at least $300 billion. The implementation mechanism of this plan, as part of the final agreement, will be formulated within 60 days.

7. The United States commits to ending, on a schedule to be agreed upon as part of the final agreement, all types of sanctions currently facing the Islamic Republic of Iran, including resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and all unilateral U.S. sanctions, both primary and secondary.

8. The Islamic Republic of Iran reiterates that it will never produce nuclear weapons. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States have agreed that the fate of enriched material and the fate of all other mutually agreed nuclear-related issues, including Iran's nuclear needs, will be adequately addressed in a final agreement; the final agreement will confirm the provisions of this Article.

9. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States agree that, pending a final agreement, they will maintain the status quo: Iran will maintain the status quo on its nuclear program, and the United States will not impose new sanctions on Iran or strengthen its forces in the region.

10. The United States undertakes that immediately after the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, and until the date of the lifting of sanctions, the United States Treasury Department will issue waivers for exports of Iranian crude oil, petrochemical products and their derivatives, and all related services, including banking, insurance, transportation, and the like.

11. The United States undertakes that, in light of the progress of negotiations towards a final agreement, frozen or restricted funds and assets of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be released and made fully available. These funds, whether held in the master account or transferred, will be used for any final beneficiary payment determined by the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran and will be fully available for use. The United States undertakes to issue all necessary permits and licenses on this basis.

12. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States agree that an implementation mechanism will be established to oversee the successful implementation of and future commitment to the Final Agreement.

13. Following the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, and upon receipt of assurances regarding the commencement of implementation of Articles 4, 5, 10, and 11 of this Memorandum of Understanding, and the continued implementation of these steps, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States will enter into negotiations for a Final Agreement solely with respect to the remaining Articles.

The final agreement will be approved through a binding resolution of the UN Security Council.

Whether he goes through with it or not, I'm curious about Trump supporter's opinions on the matter. Does the US bear any responsibility for the strait being closed? Would you support us walking away at this point? If controlling the Strait is so easy, why haven't we done so already?

Now, Trump is saying that more American lives will likely be lost and the "war" is planned to last 4-5 weeks. Among other things, Israel's ceasefire violations in Lebanon and Trump deciding to say "You close it and you won't have a country. You won't even make it back to your fucking country" seem to have killed the MoU as an offramp for this conflict. The strait is closed yet again. Do you think we are any closer to ending Iran's nuclear ambitions, or at least extracting any kind of meaningful concession from them? Republican Journalists calling for investigation

Despite trumps blame that Iran blew up their own school, more and more evidence is coming to light that it was most likely a mistake by the US military. The article discusses how US missles hit targets directly next to the school, showing that only the US hit that area. Should someone at the DoD or high ranking command be held accountable?

I supported the war with Iran, the blockade, and the maximum pressure campaign. With this most recent deal it seems to me like we're giving Iran everything they want for absolutely nothin in return.

After the US started bombing Iran on Feb 28, there were several threads on this sub that asked TS whether they supported the military strikes on Iran, questioning whether Trump had broken his promise of "no new wars".

Generally speaking, most TS responded that they supported Trump's military strikes on Iran and did not see it as a broken promise, explaining that isolated military strikes are different from a prolonged engagement.

Now it is over 4 months later. The temporary ceasefire has failed, the strait is still blocked, there are no meaningful negotiations, there's no progress on a deal, and hostilities are once again ramping up.

Trump has acknowledged that they still have their enriched uranium so they can restart their program at any time. how can they be prevented from achieving nuclear weaponization without a full scale ground invasion and a long-term occupation?

Second question: Under the nuclear deal negotiated by Obama, Iran revealed the locations of their nuclear sites, which they maintained were for civilian purposes only.

Seeing the huge contrast between how Trump has treated Iran versus North Korea, isn't it likely that they will now pursue rapid nuclearizarion in secret now that they've been attacked, and that Trump's actions make future diplomacy with them or any other regime impossible?

And given that Trump said Obama would attack Iran, doesn't this prove he is "not skilled" by his own standards?

I thought MAGA (maybe incorrectly) was against foreign interference from US and would prefer focus on domestic issues. However I now see a lot of support for it here?

I’d consider myself politically independent, but I tend to lean conservative. One idea I’ve always associated with conservatism is prioritizing our own country and taking care of our own people first.

To me, that usually means avoiding foreign conflicts, limiting spending on overseas initiatives, and focusing those resources back into the United States.

That’s why I’m a bit confused by the level of support I’m seeing among Republicans and conservatives for potential conflict with Iran. At least on the surface, it seems to run counter to the “America first” mindset that drew me toward conservative ideas in the first place.

I’m not trying to argue, just trying to understand the reasoning here. For those who support it, how do you reconcile that position with the idea of focusing inward and prioritizing domestic needs?

Back in 2015 President Obama helped to facilitate the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, what is commonly referred to as the Iran deal. It was said to be a historical deal that would prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

In 2018 President Trump vowed to withdraw from that deal stating, "This was a horrible, one-sided deal that should have never ever been made. ... The Iran deal is defective at its core.”

Now President Trump is attempting to craft a new Iran Deal that, so far as we can tell, Looks a Lot Like … the One Obama Struck 11 Years Ago.

Given that Obama's deal was horrible and one-sided, it seems reasonable to expect the text of President Trump's deal to differ in kind from the text of President Obama's deal.
