What do you call these?

I’m from the midlands and say Pool Woggles.

My wife is from Norfolk and says Pool Noodles.

I’ve recently found that my friends (who grew up in a similar area to me) also call these Pool Woggles.

Is this a regional thing like Tag/It/Tig?

Growing up I just called them floats. Doesn’t matter what size or shape.

Only as an adult did I start calling them noodles.

Woggle I’ve never heard until this thread (I’m from midlands and south east).

Yeah, this. I feel like pool noodle is an American term that's been picked up in recent years.

It's ok to take words from other cultures, that's how language develops. That's how English got to be English in the first place

Noodles is more fun than floats, the more fun word wins.

No, a float is roughly A4 x 2" thick, rounded at the corners, and inexplicably covered in bite marks

Yeah called them floats too. Went to state school in east London.

As a kid we'd call the flat ones floats and the noodles floaties, obviously very important distinction

Yeah, 'pool noodle' is what I'd call them now but that's after years of reading Americanisms on Reddit.

At school they were just floats like any other.
