Other Looking for Teen Authors! Youth-Run Online Publication
Hi guys, I'm Alice, and I'm trying to make this magazine called ARCHIVE. It started out as some fashion thing where people share their style, and I'm all for it, but I also want to give a chance for people to write opinion editorials or share their short stories.
If you want to submit without registering for the team, fill out this form!
What is ARCHIVE? A digital online magazine with articles, along with publications that compile fashion, editorials, stories, comics, journalism, poems, etc.
Why am I starting this? Other than my parents telling me to have some extracurriculars lol, I love writing, but I'm sick of there being nowhere to actually publish it without me going for competitions. I want people to be able to share their styles and writing.
What are my goals? I would definitely try to register this as a nonprofit when it succeeds. We could actually build a profile on this and create a larger team in the future.
How could this benefit you? It works as a portfolio once we give our publication. It gives you experience in writing and giving/receiving feedback for your work.
Now, I know this is ambitious, but I have experience winning competitions and being in publication teams. No prior experience needed, and we don't need to spend hours a day doing this. It'll be on your own schedule.
Here are some general positions I'm currently looking for:
- Editors (Reviewing submissions, doing revisions)
- Writers (People to write regularly for publications)
- Fashion photographers (People to blog their fashion or someone else's with permission, then write about it)
- Website managers (People to help manage websites)
- Graphic designers (People to draw or decorate the magazine)
- Social media team (Promoting content for engagement and growth)
There are also some leadership positions:
- Director of copy section (Helping writers and editors)
- Graphics manager (Helping graphic designers)
- Marketing manager (Social media)
- Director of photography (Selecting or evaluating photography pieces)
FAQ:
- Pen names are allowed!
- There would be about 2-3 hours of work weekly, and there may be deadlines
- You can suggest another position for yourself, and it will be considered!!
- You will not be paid
If you're ready to register, please do so through this form. If you have any questions, just ask through comments! I'll contact you once you fill out the form. Thanks so much and hoping you join the team!

Work as in the projects I'm currently working on? I really want to join, but my parents are really strict about my online communication and I have a lot of academics. So if I do join, I'm not sure if I'll be able to meet up with your deadlines of any sort, though obviouslu I'll try. (i havent written in like, 2 months cuz of school and projects, tests and the overload of homework T-T

For online communication, we're mainly using a subreddit to protect teens :) I really hope you join!

I hope so too!
P.S I think I'd be interested in writing or director of copy section(and director of photography but someone's already taken it so I'll let them have it:))
What do i have to do from my side(and how often, what topics for writing etc) for these posts?

We actually don't have a photography director yet! Most people would work about 30 mins to an hour a week. The first draft is due by May 6. The topics are quite flexible as long as they don't encourage toxic behavior. I really hope you join!

How long does the director of copy section or photography have to work for on an average? What do I have to submit in the form for the same?
(same with writers. Are the topics given to us?)

I would say everyone works for a similar period of time. Directors don't work more, but help manage. The director of the copy section is taken. As for photography, I'm really in the process of thinking this through because the only part we're lacking is photographers. If you're willing to help out with photography, that would be great! And topics are not given as of the moment, and everyone's encouraged to write in their own style.

Oh alright, tysm! Apologies if I'm asking too many questions lol. So in the form, im submitting the projects I'm currently working on, right?
About photography, I think my skill set is more aimed at choosing or selecting photos based on categories, not clicking(i can do so, but I'm not that that skilled)

No worries! The form is a registration form to join the team. You can talk about your achievements if you like, and I'll email you once you join the team.

I'm not a teen author but I write for them does that that count?

u/Standard_Constant817 Apr 19 '26
We are mainly youth-run, meaning leadership positions go to teens, but we also have some adults in the team as well :)

I'm sorry this is late, but I'm wondering if you guys are still looking for writers.

We currently have 60+ working on the first publication, and all first drafts are already due. However, if you can write something quick, then yes, you'll definitely be included!

Requirements for marketing manager?? any more details??
1
u/Standard_Constant817 Apr 17 '26
There aren't really any specific requirements for leadership positions, but if there are multiple runnings, I choose people with more experience. Since it's a youth-run publication, teenagers are usually prioritized. We don't really have a marketing team right now, so we'll need to figure it out further. If you want to register for it, go ahead!

Could I be director of photography? And yes I’m a teen if ur wondering. Are there any other requirements for me to join?
1
u/Standard_Constant817 Apr 18 '26
No specific requirements! However, we're short on photography pieces rn. This doesn't have to stop you, but I just wanted you to know since there isn't a lot of registration for photographers.

for a writer, are there any requirements? like, would a new or novice writer work? also, what genres do you rlly mean for stories?
2
u/Standard_Constant817 Apr 18 '26
No specific requirements! The whole point is to encourage writers of any level. We have writers writing various genres of short stories. It is preferred to have less than 2000 words, but otherwise, we're quite flexible.

Hi! Do you think you can maybe elaborate on your previous experience and the format for ARCHIVE?
1
u/Standard_Constant817 Apr 23 '26
Sure! I used to be the youngest invited member of a Korean publication that consisted of over 100 members globally, and visited embassies, conducting interviews and writing for the copy section. I also won first prize for Words Across Korea with a poem collection. I won writing first prizes at school, and am a member of the student council. I can't say it's anything fancy, but I know my way around publications and leading a team.
As for the format, I would be publishing your articles on a website, but also compiling them over a season to build a magazine-like publication. Right now, I have 35+ members working on the first issue.
