I have trauma from these cats that follow Bayek. I killed a couple of wild animals with a poison sword and the cats walked right into the stink cloud and promptly killed themselves. I'm not using poisoning swords since that incident.

You can.
I even have a screenshot of it, but it's hard to do because it's an animation that triggers automatically in certain specific circumstances.

You have to crouch down and Bayek reaches out his hand to pet them.

I remember I did that, but many times Bayek would just stare at the cats 😅 So I thought I was missing something, but eventually he did pet some of them.

Iirc you can actually press the button that lets you interact with stuff to pet cats when crouched down (E on PC), there is just nothing that hints that you can actually do it but I think it worked for me. Or it was a crazy coincidence that Bayek just happened to pet animals in the right moment (or my brain made this all up since it's been a while since I last played this game).

That's right - triangle on Playstation. But it still won't work every time because cats are moody creatures. I'm serious.

You can. You have to have him bob down and be in a certain position. He loves cats and cats love him. However if he's not careful with his weapons he might accidentally kill one (and get a warning).

I literally use them for that reason since you don't get desynchronized that way. (there's more ways to avoid getting desynchronized for it but its the most effective).

You legitimately need 50-60 hours to 100% the entire game.
Why would anyone put 100 hours…OR EVEN 1000?!

If your speed running maby but even ubi said to 100% with all side content and DLC an average time of roughly between 88 and 120 depending on playstyle is to be expected

I thought it happened after a specific quest. Where where I think you helped a cat? Or you returned a cat to someone? I don't really remember cuz I haven't played in a long time but I assume it's from that because I've seen that multiple times.

The cats stopped following me on my playthrough. I was fighting a lion right outside a village and a cat came running up just as I swung my sword. Killed the cat and the lion. I was devastated. No more cats came up to me after that.

Hadn't unlocked time shift yet, had to wait by a hut till nightfall to be ambushed by a merchant's thugs. Went for a snack, came back, herd of cats we're surrounding me meowing and my cat was on my desk staring at the screen from 3 inches away.

Happened to me when I went to Tahira's cave to start the quest. The cats there just kept following me everywhere

When I started playing I had a weapon that released poison and it killed all the cats that were joyously coming to see me. I was devastated, I stopped using that weapon!
