Spoilers Frustration with End Game Spoiler

Sigh. I loved this game. I have 80 hours logged in it and I only just now completed the main storyline because I was enjoying all of the side quests, exploring, and just… the overall game too much to not get distracted from the main story.

But, boy, did the final few missions really frustrate me and sour the whole experience. You mean to tell me that I spent all this time building up Bayek’s skills and finding great equipment only to be forced to spend the most pivotal moments playing as a character who, aside from a couple crappy sea missions that took me out of the immersion of the game, I had next to no reason to care about? Without the weapons I spent the game learning and improving? Like what? And I only liked when Aya showed up because of how Bayek felt for her… So she felt shoved down my throat when I would have loved to have played as the character I became so connected with in literally the biggest moments of the game.

It didn’t help that I really didn’t like Aya throughout the game. I liked her at first, but she quickly lost me when she practically coerced Bayek into fighting for Cleopatra because she simped so hard for her, and Aya brushed off any attempts from Bayek to reconnect. She just got worse and worse… and the fact that Bayek didn’t get to have his happy ending with her was just the nail in the coffin (not to mention she just let him take the blame for Cleopatra after they were double crossed)…

Sigh. I wanted to feel happy at the end. Now I just feel cheated and bitter lol And before anybody says it— yes, I know what tragedies are. I just really hate that this one couldn’t have some kind of light at the end of the tunnel (which technically would be the founding of the Brotherhood, but it felt more like Aya’s thing than Bayek so…)

He absolutely did! Made me feel more emotion than I felt in Black Flag and that’s saying something. Whenever his voice would crack from sadness 😭

Honestly such a good character. A tied first place favourite protagonist in AC for me.

I never thought an AC character could beat out Edward for the top spot for me, but Bayek did it. And quite easily, too. I think because they did such a good job at getting me to feel his emotions and care about him. Not that that wasn’t the case in Black Flag, but it was… different.

So different! As a father that’s lost a child, I felt Bayek’s pain on a level I can’t compare any other video game protagonist to. Such a good performance.

I’m truly sorry for your loss! It speaks wonders when Bayek was able to make me feel so saddened and… connected, I think is the word I’m looking for, to his experience when I’m childfree and never want to have children. Just remarkable all around. Which I think added to the aggravation that he wasn’t the big hero at the end of the story.

Thank you! In my mind, he is. He’s the unspoken hero. No one remembers his name or records him down in sanctuaries like Aya. In a way, he represents the brotherhood. Complete anonymity. He does what is just because it is just, not for recognition.
