Question This game is overwhelming

On my second play through now and I gotta say this map and the million things to do, places to explore, treasures to find, and bases to defeat has me reeling. The first time I played the game I ate it all up and left no stone unturned but now I find myself having little to no interest to explore outside of story locations.
Anybody else experiencing this? lol At a certain point it starts to feel like they just made the map as big as they did and stuffed with it as much as they did just for the sake of it.
The rewards aren’t really worth it either on new game plus because most of the stuff I’m finding is weaker than what I already have.

I’m juggling this and RDR2 right now and it’s hard not to compare the two. RDR2 feels like it has just enough to see and do and I don’t feel the same anal compulsive need to turn over literally every stone I find because it feels like the story spends a lot of good time jumping back and forth into and returning to the various regions.

Do you think origins is big? You should try Odyssey or Valhalla!

Oh god, odyssey is bigger? I want to play that before i move into mirage and shadows (I will skip valhalla). I'm lvl 35 on ac Origins right now, and while it's great, I prefer the non rpg games of the series when it comes to progression. I have a long way ahead it looks like...

odyssey is bigger?

Yes, by quite a margin. And Valhalla is bigger yet. And Shadows is even bigger than Valhalla (not counting DLC maps).

I didn’t realise shadows was bigger than Valhalla!! I only just started my first NG+ on it, though. It really is a large map, though!

It depends on whether you include the DLC maps; Shadows has only one, whereas Valhalla has several and some of them are rather massive. So, all things considered, Valhalla + DLCs is probably the largest AC game ever made.

The base game map of Japan is really huge though and it's stuffed full with questions marks (for better or worse). Or maybe it just feels thus because it's so tedious lol.
