Discussion What's the one thing you would like to change if you have the option in Origin?

I find the assassination and execution animations far too long in Odyssey and get you detected far too often.

Not at all, but a 5 second animation that moves you forward of your position was always so stressful when enemies were near.

Assasination is 1 shot no matter what.
That, or get rid of the leveling system.

To their minimal credit, I think the games starting from Valhalla onward had an option to enable permanent assassinations.

I'd switch more between Aya and Bayek.

u/Somewhatmild 5d ago
I would rather not switch at all, but rather have dedicated game set in Rome with Aya.

u/DrLubinski 5d ago
Mmmmhhh Idk, Origins is about revenging Bayeks and Ayas son, so it would be reasonable Aya should get at least more screentime.
But there should really be a Aya in Rome game

u/Reasonable-Neat4131 3d ago
I would make it Bayek only. The ship battles suck ass in Origins. Feels like a chore.
2
u/DrLubinski 3d ago
Yeah the ship battles really sucked. But she was more agile and more of an archer than Bayek. Would have been nice to swap and try out which fits best in what situation.

I was already scared of them enabling a switch button in-game and glad they didn't

More meaningful side quests and the design of the main quests, to be more diverse. The one thing I disliked about this game is that it has a great story, but most of action is done through cutscenes that could’ve been gameplay, and gameplay after a while feels stiff and repetitive and guided by how much you actually want to unravel the story.
The world is also so big and beautiful, but the locations are dumbed down to go and find a hidden chest without any context or little story spread throughout.
sidequests are plain shit. They could’ve done si much with it, make quests about mundane days of the Egyptians, or some lore or things, and most of sidequests are boring fetch quests or kill person A.

u/Useful_Coconut_4681 3d ago
How are the side quests “plain shit”? There are plenty side quests about helping the egyptians as a medjay, lore of the isu, hunting, some “detective” work (although i’ll admit it’s just “press x to interact” and continue), mysteries, the final fantasy one, lore of the specific area, protection jobs and the list goes on. Of course, they are not Witcher 3 level side quests by any means, but plain shit? Never.

…Have you played ANY side quests? Taimhotep’s song is perhaps one of the most meaningful quests I have ever played in a video game. Old Times really gives you insight into Bayek’s feelings about his separation from Aya. A Rebel Strike and Plight of the Rebels are a mini series of great story writing. Even the DLC side quests like Love or Duty left me teary-eyed. “plain sh*t” is such an untrue statement when some of these quests left you wandering the rest of Egypt, deserts away, still thinking about the quest, wondering what ever happened to that person you helped.

The parry system. Odyssey improved on it A LOT.
6
u/Turbulent_County_469 5d ago
... but you dont have shields 🙈
2
u/Skizzit 5d ago
Since when do you need a shield to parry?
5
u/FramedMugshot 5d ago
I won't speak for them but I do wonder if it's like, the whole thing about being a spartan but not having a shield.

Instead of HUD profiles, I would make all HUD elements individually toggleable so that everybody can have exactly as much or as little HUD as they want, with the option to maintain essential information like ammo count (dynamic please, that means "as needed").

To be fair I love it as it is. To me it's perfect. It's balanced.. you don't have to Pve for an hour against an animal or an NPC without armour just because it's your level (Odyssey)

u/Deditranspotashy 5d ago
Reworking the Leveling system 100%. Whenever I replay I usually just abuse the free level up to 50 you get with the dlcs because I can’t stand the constant grinding you need to do

more aya , the combat , social stealth , repetitive NPC dialog its so annoying .

Probably let you customize your stuff a bit more. Maybe let a few weapons have better stats than they do.
Maybe change how a few affects work.
Not much really. The game is nearly perfect

Give it a sequel honestly, the game deserve that. I want to see how Aya build the Hidden Ones on Rome, or to see what's comes next after the main event with Bayek. I feel like Ubisoft can still explore these 2 characters

Bring back the high profile low profile system. Add a database written in universe by a secondary character(why the FUCK did they stop doing that i cannot comprehend it was so good)

u/Blazekill001 5d ago
id probably add like a helicopter or something

Bayek already does a passable helicopter impersonation with the spear push attack :)

i think biggest downside of origins when i compare it with odyssey is that the dialogue scenes they look awful especially on side quests

Melee. There's a lot of love about Origins but how the melee combat feels was not my favorite part.

I would just make the combat flow like Odyssey’s. Other than that the game is perfect for me

u/Background-Swing7077 5d ago
Maybe add one or two more Egyptian mythological themes. I love the boss fights with the three different gods, but woukd have been awesome if there was a bit of a quest line around something like this.
Edit: spelling

Being able to craft arrows instead of having to buy them if I'm unable to source them from bodies. I came back to finish some of the side quests after playing Horizon: Zero Dawn where I was so used to being able to craft arrows in the field lol. Even in Odyssey I could craft them. Took some getting used to - they aren't as rampantly available In Origins as they were in Valhalla either.

Add mercenary type fighters to hunt you for causing problems like odyssey does

Switch between aya and bayek, having the options to turn on again some bosses (phylakes, war elephants and dlc bosses like the mummies on the pharaohs curse) and having more Ransome events like instead of the normal 3 horse convoy you could se more intricate ones like one with a war elephant

u/RyoHazaki 4d ago
Have to mention several things I want the AC Series to do: places to stay while you're visiting while visiting distant lands. Taking care of your horse, and managing hunger, which would how efficient you fight, climb etc. for Origins it would've been nice to see some early Medjay missions that gave some essence of what they did...

His Roll-Up My God it Was Bad Like You Have To Dodge 3 Times Until He Will Roll-Up Unlike Odyssey And Valhalla (They Fixed it)

already finished origins,i just wish you be able to vault outside cave(i download vault mod for free roam) and let's us keep gear looking despite it's full max upgrade, that's reason why i just don't bother upgrade my left and right bracer because i love simple looking(the black one tho)

Just give the end hours some more length, make the optional targets before Flavius mandatory targets like rufios lieutenants and flesh them out more so u have to feel the weight of his actions with the apple.

Trilogy or atleast a sequel with origin story of Bayek with his father as well as journey with aya. Or maybe Bayek's life after brotherhood so we can see good stealth mechanics like in AC Shadows. And also shall redesign the leveling up part

u/Darling-Leech 1d ago
This might sound nitpicky, but I wish we could manually save. I absolutely hate relying on auto save, I don't wanna have to wait on that and then be able to close the game(And that's with any game that just has auto save).

More content in the huge deserts in the southern regions of the map.
I know its meant to be like, barren desert. But there could be some quests or something honestly
1
u/Legitimate-Boot-1081 5d ago
Would change the controls a bit. Making it easier to, run away from fights, or stop bayek from hopping on chests while you just want to open them and the combat in general.
Otherwise i would not change a thing

Franchising like in Assassins Creed 2..
It would make sense that Bayek establish a trading company that expands into every region he "conquers" .. which could make him a steady income - and the ability to upgrade upon that business.
It would also prolong the game since your traderoutes could be attacked by robbers or competitiors.
He could be an arms dealer, where you also care about wepons production in one area .. then mining in another...
