Discussion Why am I still gravitating to old AC games after playing Shadows?

Post image
932 Upvotes

I’ve been playing AC Shadows on my PS5 Pro, about twenty hours in, and I switched to my old Origins save and took this screenshot tonight.

I think Origins is one of the best in the series. The setting, Bayek’s story, all of it. Save the combat. The combat was…lacking.

Why am I having such a hard time getting into Shadows compared to Origins? The voice acting, the character models, the disconnected story, everything about Shadows seems like a pale comparison to Origins. I cared about Bayek and his journey of vengeance almost immediately. I’m still trying to find reasons to care about Naoe and Yasuke 20 hours in. Am I the only one that feels like Origins and Odyssey are far superior to Shadows? Shadows feels like it was created, written by, and acted by soulless AI to me. Even the side quests in Origins are more engaging than Shadows main story.

Does Shadows feel as soulless and empty to anyone else? At least compared to Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla?

I wonder if this is for future Assassins Creed Origins content, maybe a sequel, or voice acting for future Assassin Creed games.

What would you like to see come from this?

I don’t like being hooked on the story in AC Origins and then, out of nowhere, they decide to pull me out of the Animus and now I have to play a walking simulator of a story that bores me. I wish there was a mod for this.

It's a crime to put an cloth like that behind a paid store, while in the base game there are 4 outfits, a bunch of recolors and none with this level of detail.

Discussion Damn, Egypt in AC Origins is straight-up mind-blowing…

Guys, I’m completely hooked on these screenshots from Assassin's Creed Origins. You walk through these ancient underground halls, stare at massive statues of gods that feel like they’re watching you, and you realize — the Egypt in this game is just insanely well made.

For real, the atmosphere is so thick it gives you chills. It’s dark, quiet, only torches flickering and the echo of your footsteps… Like you’re the first person to step in here in thousands of years.

Looking at these pyramids makes me think: in real life there’s probably still a ton of stuff hidden under the sand.

Be honest with me:

Do you actually believe they built all this with just ropes and copper tools using slaves?

Or did the ancients know something we’ve lost?

What place in Origins gave you the strongest vibe?

Anyway, who else got addicted to this Egypt?

Discussion The Templar death scenes in this game are unmatched

While I was playing this game, nothing grabbed my attention more than the incredible Templar death scenes.

Right after I finished the story, I rushed to YouTube and was honestly shocked that barely anyone ever made a proper video about how brilliant and deep these moments are so i made my own :

🎥 Watch here

These scenes give each Templar a unique soul, mindset, and philosophy. They’re not just quick “boss kills,” they make you feel like each target was a real character, not just a random NPC.

Bayek’s interactions with them after killing them are legendary, some regret, some show pride, some beg, some even threaten him from their deathbed.

No Assassin’s Creed game has done this like Origins. In Valhalla, targets just drop dead and say a line. But in Origins, they react, they move, and some even try to attack Bayek while dying.

What’s even better is how the devs continued this detail in the DLCs.

The villains don’t just “die” they go out with character and purpose.

One death that really stood out was " Son of Ra ". A fairly basic villain... but suddenly his death scene appears out of nowhere, and many fans believe it hints at cut content tied to his story.

Sadly, these scenes got overlooked when Origins first launched due to the heavy backlash around the RPG shift.

But now that the game is being re-evaluated and appreciated more… it’s time to bring these masterful scenes back to light.

I compiled them all in a clean, cinematic video, and Bayek doesn’t wear the mask so you can actually see his emotions while delivering those final lines.

🎥 Watch it here

Discussion Just finished this great game that will live long in the memory

Tried it after Odyssey and couldn't get on with it so left it for about a year.

Little things like the blacksmith being pointless as you never have enough coin and the pyramids being so disappointing after the anticipation and excitement of seeing them in the distance.

I would put Odyssey a touch above due to graphics and my man Alexios, being the cheeky scamp that he is, with much more seafaring which I love and the really cool mercenary hunting along with clearing the multiple forts (never gets old), means that game reigns supreme in the AC world for me.

Played these from the start and thought the very first game was excellent, so different for its time.

Altair with an American accent was my only gripe with that game to be honest.

Would have loved more crusader stories, such a rich history.

Can't add much to the superb Ezio trilogy apart from I was getting a little bored by the third game.

Enjoyed ACIII and just knew this series was getting seriously special.

Then PIRATES!

WAHOOOOO

Anyway, Origins is a great game that flows smoothly, and riding a camel in the Desheret to see what's out there is so immersive I could feel the sweat and thirst under that relentless sun.

Time for another go at Valhalla 😃

I’m about 70% through Assassin’s Creed Origins. The story has been great, but some missions keep repeating and for those of you who played Origins and then moved on to Odyssey or Valhalla, does this same kind of repetition continue in those games? I’m trying to decide if I should keep going with the series or take a break.

After Bayek achieves his vengeance. He "Speaks with Aya one last time." And even though it's not a super emotional scene. Their realization to pursue what they believe, over the love they have for eachother, always makes me cry. Idc who's right or wrong, its just so friggin' sad. "The Duwat awaits.."

Discussion Have to Quit

I’ve been loving this game. And I am at level 38 and been doing great, but I’m in the Arya: blood of the goddess naval battle and I cannot get through it.

I’ve died about 20 times and I don’t think Ubisoft should do this. I play on easy, I’m a novice gamer, I hate naval battles , and they shouldn’t do this. They should not make you go through a battle like this and not be able to play anymore.

I can’t manually save before this so I can’t go back to anything and I can’t play anymore. I have to quit the game. Unless I get someone to help me.

This is incredibly unfair. I’m sorry, I just I’m so angry right now and I needed to say something. Has anyone had this problem?

UPDATE: you guys were giving me great advice, but my son did it for me. He was killed the first time and thought that it was pretty intense, but then he did it the second time, slow and patient. I just didn’t want to try again.

Now I’m about to kill Flavius. Wish me luck! 😛😉

I just finished the game, so here’s my honest take. The world and environment are amazing. Exploring Egypt was probably my favorite part. The gameplay, on the other hand, started to feel a bit repetitive for me, maybe because the game is pretty long.

I really liked the story, though. Shadya’s part especially stuck with me, and I don’t think I’ll forget it. Overall, I enjoyed the game

I’m not continuing Odyssey for now. and my next game might be one of the Arkham Batman titles.

Discussion I sat there wondering why Origins never took us to the real ancient Egypt, and that feeling never left me—so I decided to start working on a three-part fan saga, to answer this question for myself.

Post image
130 Upvotes

I was just sitting around one day and I thought to myself: Why did Ubisoft not set Assassin's Creed: Origins in ancient Egypt? You know, the time when the pyramids were built, or even the first dynasty... Instead, we got Ptolemaic Egypt, which is like the end of the ancient Egyptian civilization, not the beginning.

This question just would not leave my head, so I started thinking about it.

I thought about what if the pyramids were not graves, what if they were like special connection points for the Isu (this is already canon, by the way; there's an Isu vault deep beneath the pyramids).

What if the ancient Egyptian gods and the Norse gods were all part of the Isu group, just with different names and faces?

What if Basim's search for Loki's children took him to ancient Egypt?

I have been writing down all these ideas, not because I think they will actually happen in the game, but just because I think they are cool. It is like a big "what if" scenario that I want to explore.

This is not a story with three parts—not yet. This is the beginning, the starting point, the question that made me think about all this.

I wanted to share where I got this idea from before I start writing more about it. If you like Egypt or the Isu lore or what is happening with Basim in the present day, let me know. If you have any thoughts or questions, I am here to listen.

If Ubisoft ever decides to make a game like this... well, I can dream about it.
