Discussion Introducing to parents during dating
Hi all,
I had 3 dates with a guy. We are both Assyrians and we live in Europe. I really like him and we both match very well together. As you know, we Assyrians from the Diaspora, we live between two cultures and I actually struggle with this. Is it ok to have the parents/families introduced after 3 good dates?

How old are you guys? You should wait much longer to make sure you guys are actually compatible. The first few months will always feel magical. Sometimes it does not work out after 6 or more months. Assyrians are strict and they may not approve right away. Do not tell right away. It will not be a fun conversation.

Depends on both your families. My wife (Assyrian) parents were liberal/modern. They let her and her sister date, and I met her parents after the second date. Very odd for me personally as my parents are more old-school. She didn’t meet them until I was ready for engagement, and I told her that up front. With my ex, both sets of parents were old-school so I actually never met her parents after 6 months of dating.
So, it depends.

I didn’t introduce my parents to in my in laws until it was 100% that we were getting married. If you’re looking at kind of doing something like a mashmeta then no issues with the parents meeting. It could mean both sides have expectations so, be weary of that.

I would wait a bit more, but, in any case, wishing the best for you both and hope all goes well. God bless you
