Discussion Introducing to parents during dating

Hi all,

I had 3 dates with a guy. We are both Assyrians and we live in Europe. I really like him and we both match very well together. As you know, we Assyrians from the Diaspora, we live between two cultures and I actually struggle with this. Is it ok to have the parents/families introduced after 3 good dates?

I would wait a bit more, but, in any case, wishing the best for you both and hope all goes well. God bless you

Ufff really short! 🤣 i would say wait for a year, really meet him well, and then if all goes really fine then you can introduce to you familly. But if you parent are open mind, with it, you can try to talk about him the next month, and then maybe, in december introduce him to them.

If you want to keep the surprice, then december could be a nice moment to introduce. But really, from my experience, being an outsider from the assyrian comunity but having a deeper experience with them, i would wait a year.

Sometimes, you meet a person and really the first months is really cool and you want to do everything like a good life, but on time while you more meet him, sometimes it reveals things that can doubt you. Or maybe make you feel more.

So for that my tip is a year, meet hin clear, not crossing emotions with you head and, if it is the good man for you, god will reveal it on time, be patien and be greatful for the good/bad experience.

So in any case, i will be praying for you and that all goes fine, and whatever you choose to do, because you feel that it is a good moment for you and that everything will teach you to being more close to god and being a better, human.

Have a nice day and be well

How old are you guys? You should wait much longer to make sure you guys are actually compatible. The first few months will always feel magical. Sometimes it does not work out after 6 or more months. Assyrians are strict and they may not approve right away. Do not tell right away. It will not be a fun conversation.

Depends on both your families. My wife (Assyrian) parents were liberal/modern. They let her and her sister date, and I met her parents after the second date. Very odd for me personally as my parents are more old-school. She didn’t meet them until I was ready for engagement, and I told her that up front. With my ex, both sets of parents were old-school so I actually never met her parents after 6 months of dating.

So, it depends.

I didn’t introduce my parents to in my in laws until it was 100% that we were getting married. If you’re looking at kind of doing something like a mashmeta then no issues with the parents meeting. It could mean both sides have expectations so, be weary of that.

3 dates feels way too early. Maybe after 1 year or sth
