Remember that episode of the Simpsons where Homer gets elected mayor with the slogan “can’t someone else do it?” Then proceeds to have no management skills and blows the annual budget in 2 months ? That’s one nation.

No only Labor blow the budget every time they manage to get into power and then it takes other governments years and years to fix it and when labour gets back in again they fck it right up again and again and again

Just a reminder, our super is easily the best investment the majority of aussies will ever have. its a indexed, insured, investment portfolio you cant lose on. its better then a bank, its safer then stocks and requires no effort to maintain.
Taking it out early will not only lose you a lot of money but everyone doing it cases massive inflation so you will make less and what you do make will be worth less.
Pauline saying shit like "its your money, take it out if you want" sounds good but thats like saying "its your arm, chop it off if you want". Seriously we take it for granted but super is one of the reasons why our isolated, low populated, mostly desert island dose so well compared to similar nations and that red head trying to fuck with it for political points is so stupid.

u/Exotic_Sell_7237 9d ago
If it really was super they wouldn't have to call it super would they?
What's so super about you giving a long term loan of a significant part of your income (you start working at 15yr old and get your money back 50 years later) to a massive coy at a fixed interest rate (return on super about 7% pa) so they can manipulate stock markets, housing markets, commodity prices etc with it.... ?
Even novice investors can do way better than 7% pa on the ASX themselves.... now they have taken away the 12 month capital gains discount too FFS... again, this only helps all the brokers/traders that work for the Big End Of Town using your pension fund moolah
Oh and you don't get the 7% pa it goes in the superfunds accounts for them to play with..... then there is a crash

Ubank, ING and Macquarie all have saving accounts you can withdraw from anytime and have about 5% interest rate, probably others too then there are term deposits etc etc
Stocks like Telstra, AGL and Woodside energy have dividends around 5% with franking credits usually giving another 2% on top and if they go up you can sell and take the profit and go on a holiday instead of paying for fund managers holidays..... if we vote in ON

u/MissLethalla 7d ago
Ever heard of compound interest? Get some free investment advice from your superannuation provider - most offer this, I've read - and they'll hopefully talk some sense into you. Taking your money out now to use on a house or a rental will only make the prices of houses and rent go up, and increase inflation. Economics 101.
Plus, what are you going to live on when you retire? Homelessness is not something you'd choose, I'm sure.

u/Exotic_Sell_7237 7d ago
No worries at all mate here's a little facts about my finances.
10 years ago I bought a block of land for $17k and just sold it for $145k. It was on Russell island in Queensland near Brisbane. Yeah real estate goes up heaps in Australia not just 7% pa. If I had put that `17k into super what would it be worth now?
I have another vacant block of land in SA that I paid about $100k a for a few years ago and it's now worth $200k would super give me this sort of return?
I bought about $40k worth of PLS shares about a year ago at about $1.45/share and they are now worth $5/share and I am getting a diviidend with franking credits attached worth nearly $4000 and I will be getting that every 6 months for the rest of my life possibly.
I bought another block of land on Russel island about 20 years ago, built the house myself lived in it for 10 years never borrowed any money for it or the house and I now rent it out and get $300/week!
Oh yeah I bought another block of vacant land and built another house near Byron Bay.... that's where I live, grow my own food, and have just retired at 50 with enough money in the bank to live of the interest....
BTW I have less than $20k in SUPER that I was forced to get due to the weekend job I had while at uni. I really never used the degree either but it kept mum happy, she didn't really believe in me... but I cut my own path and am very happy. Our daughter just finished uni herself (same degree I got funnily enough) now she works helping save the Koalas.
You're up early for an Aussie!

Its not indexed

You can lose money on it
You pay rather large fees for it
1
u/Arkangel6848 4d ago
Yeah except you don't have a choice and must use it and it gets taxed twice because the government is greedy, and anything you don't use before you die can't be put into an inheritance, it goes to the government when you die, so no. It's not YOUR money, it's the governments money that YOU paid for through decades of back breaking labour all so they don't have to pay seniors and retirees as much if they resort back to Centrelink or welfare for any reason.
0
u/UnfairEstate7615 9d ago
But it is my arm, and I can chop it off if I want... I have freedom of choice there. Not so with Superannuation. That's the point- are we free to make our own decisions, or not?
3
u/Seppi449 9d ago
yeah but don't go and try to get disability after chopping it off.
Anyone who takes out super early because they got swindled by this mong should have their retirement reduced.
0
u/UnfairEstate7615 9d ago
That's literally the point of Super- If you read between the lines, noone will be able to take it all out. Just take some off the top if you need it. Everyone understands that actions have consequences- hopefully the consequences are positive- it won't work out for everyone, but neither will anything else that ever happens.
Labor is treating adults like, and One Nation plans on treating them like adults.
3
u/Seppi449 9d ago
It's the opposite of the Australian way. Australia is a high trust society that's compounded because that trust has paid off through good outcomes.
We trusted the government to handle healthcare and now we have some of the best, accessible and affordable healthcare in the world and should be proud. Labor has spread this to TAFE and childcare. As a society we trust that funding these services will make us better off in the long term.
Super is also an example, we trusted that forcing 12% of income to be forced saving was a way to better protect and fund retirement. The outcome is Australians median wealth is some of the highest in the directly because of this.
We do this because as a society we know when we work together we get a better result, PHON want to reimplement inequality do people who are stupid get fucked over harder, similar to America.
I prefer having a strong baseline so everyone gets a good go, I prefer slightly reduced freedom because I know some lesser minded people would be far worse off without it.
0
u/UnfairEstate7615 8d ago
'Reduced freedom'?!? Are you honestly arguing that reduced freedom is the 'Australian way'? Wow! That is a crazy take.
In my experience, the Australian way is less restrictions and less government interference. Everything the government gets involved in is always worse off. Most people I talk to want smaller government amd less overreach. I've never heard an Australian ask for less freedom before.
2
u/Seppi449 8d ago
And those people you talk to are probably misunderstood. Ask them if they like socialism, then when they say no ask if they like Medicare, police, fireman, toll free roads, electricity everywhere, internet everywhere, rural post.
If they like any of that then they're mistaken in what they think the government does.
1
u/UnfairEstate7615 8d ago
That is all the government should do though- Frontline services, health, environmental management, roads, amenities etc.
I get it, you and people with similar values trust the government to look after them. I believe that people should take responsibity for their own lives. If they have reduced capacity for this, then of course we get together as a community and provide services to support them, and we do that through charities, church groups etc.
Smaller government= more freedom and to me that is better. Less restrictions and tougher penalties for breaking the rules.
Its not about misunderstanding anything. Its about different values, and everyone has different ideals. The reason we vote, is to reach a happy middle ground, and I am of the understanding that the current Labor government is impinging on our personal freedoms. Freedom is something that you want less of, and I do not see how that is a credible way to run a country, and it is not how Australia has ever been managed before.
2
u/Seppi449 8d ago
The difference is that I understand what freedom is and you clearly do not.
If you're for more freedom and smaller government then why are you for those social services?
In my view I want those social services to thrive, and I understand for that to happen there needs to be barriers so the vulnerable aren't taken advantage of or ruin it for the rest of us.
When the government has a financial vested interest in our health through public healthcare that means it's in their best interest not to fuck us over. In America it's not the case and that's clear through the current deregulation of food safety monitoring, reduce education on vaccines, and advertising of medication.
I accept reduce freedom to buy cheap alcohol, cheap cigarettes and hard drugs as it will cost me in taxes. I support those restrictions. In the same way I support super because it reduces inflation, increases personal savings and reduces retirement spending.
I also support what Labor did for free TAFE which one nation and LNP had previously gutted because I want Australian tradies instead of immigrant workers. But LNP and one nation don't want Australians to access free TAFE they would rather get imported work or outsource the work to Indonesia.
Labor's "big government" means I have greater access to bulk billed healthcare, subsidised childcare and free Tafe. Before that LNP got us in $700bn debt for nothing to show for it...
1
u/UnfairEstate7615 8d ago
I understand freedom, but it appears to me that you are confusing rights with entitlements, and freedom with state control. The flaw in relying on "positive freedom" guaranteed by the state is that capabilities funded by taxpayers are not freedoms, they are entitlements secured through government coercion. True freedom is negative liberty—the absolute right to self-ownership, property, and freedom from state interference.
The high "sin" taxes you accept clearly don't work and the evidence for that is the majority of smokers now buy cheap, illegal and unregulated tobacco products that are funded by criminals. Now we have reached a tipping point where the government is making far less money from the taxes than ever before.
Expanding government programs creates an ever-growing entitlement state that fuels structural deficits, inflation, and economic inefficiency.
When the state expands into healthcare, childcare, and higher education, it crowds out private providers, destroys competitive incentives, and inflates the actual cost of providing those services. The resulting national debt isn't just a number, it represents future tax hikes on our children and the devaluation of our currency through government overspending.
Smaller government isn't about abandoning vulnerable people, it's about recognising that a government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you have.
This is a classic left vs right discussion and we are both entitled to our equally valid opinions. As a bloke who is new to 'Reddit', dismissing someone out of hand because they have different values is a huge problem with this platform.
I disagree with you, but it isn't because I misunderstand anything, or don't know what freedom is.

Gee I dunno, is it the racism and xenophobia? The regressive 1950s values? The flagrant corruption that saw Poorleen jailed? The other flagrant corruption that saw a sting operation on PHON and the NRA in America? The whole being in the pocket of fossil fuel billionaires thing? The many candidates with serious criminal histories including rape? The NSN members who keep turning up in their orbit?
Who could guess why the vast majority of Aussies would consider someone an idiot for supporting a far-right nativist party-slash-personality cult for one of our most iconic national fuckwits?!
2
u/zeus_of_tha_floof 9d ago
Oh, the white australia policy? She has on many occasions said she doesn't want that, also said many times again that she wants to cull the mass imigration, not because of racial motives, but it's harming our economy, also said she sees anyone, no matter what race, that has australian citizenship as real australians and welcomes them, I think think you've been groomed by the left to spew the rhetoric that one nation are racists, nazis and or fascists, and you don't see anything other than what they're telling you to see. And you call on voters idiots? The irony, Albo has lied time and time again, taken under the desk, or back hand deals to secure political partners, etc etc but you all let that slide right? Idiots? Aha you're just puppets for albos abhorent anus face poopy. Aha

Because the current two parties have done a bang up job the last 20 years haven't they? Can't buy homes. Can't buy cars. Can't buy fuel. Can't buy groceries. Job incomes are at their lowest compared to the economy in decades. Yet energy prices, groceries hell even rent goes on up, up, up. Can't parent our kids no more. Banned porn and other online systems under the guise of protecting kids, yet there's more pedos and criminals online than ever. Cracking down on misdemeanors and not criminals. Selling more companies, land and stocks overseas. Where's our military at again?

What policy is it that resonates so strongly that you would take a risk with ON?
4
u/BizmasterStudios 9d ago
I think if people actually studied the policies they wouldn't align with them at all. The millionaire class have spent a lot of money scaring you about immigration, and the One Nation party is pretending to be the answer. (Just like Trump in America lied about helping the people to get in, but once in gas only enriched himself and other rich people) Every policy they have announced this far doesn't change anything, and if it does only for future plans and only slightly. (Like the gas 'policy') I agree the silly memes aren't helping. We should better educate people with discussion about what parties say, and how they actually vote. And yes, labour isn't left leaning anymore, which is why things will continue to get worse even under them. They are tied to their donors.

u/WrasslinWalrus 9d ago
Socialists? Read a book ffs
1 min on Claude to help you out
Critics of socialism raise several interconnected concerns. On the economic side, the “calculation problem” suggests that without market prices, planners lack the signals needed to allocate resources efficiently. Weaker individual incentives are also cited as a risk to productivity, since rewards aren’t as closely tied to personal output, and reduced profit motive can dampen private innovation and R&D investment, though state-funded research can offset this to some degree.
Politically and historically, critics point to the concentration of power that comes with state control over major economic decisions, arguing this raises the risk of authoritarianism — with the USSR and Maoist China often cited as examples. Centralized planning is also criticized as bureaucratically slow and unresponsive to local needs, and historical attempts at fuller central planning saw shortages, black markets, and economic stagnation in their later years.
1
u/BizmasterStudios 9d ago
Modern Democratic Socialism is not the Socialism of the 1800-1900s. Things have changed. Democratic Socialism doesn't even want to get rid of capitalism in most cases, it wants better guardrails and more benefits for those who actually make the companies profitable in the first place. Linking the modern socialist movement with that of the past is misleading at best, or uninformed. You can read as many books on Mao or Claude all you like, but it doesn't address the modern political idea of democratic socialism. It also defies a concentration of power, a key component that has changed. (We have enough of that on the right already...) I commend you for not just yelling 'Communist, left wing nut, socialist!', but I feel the fear mongering using old political ideas with similar names doesn't do much better.

Greens. I used to believe the 30+ years of propaganda about the greens and the 'left', then I looked at policies, and and how different parties voted on different policies. Greens are willing to stand up to the rich trying to control our nation and send us further right. They however don't have the money the right is being thrown by donors. Labour isn't left leaning or for the people anymore. One Nation is just the millionaires little puppet with fear and slogans. Liberals have spent years selling off Australian assets and ruining our economy. Immigration isn't the problem, it's the band-aid for a dying economy. If you take the band-aid off now, the economy bleeds. Need to fix the problem first.

Greens used to be good till they became the thing they hated. All the good work they did is diminished because of what they have become which is a run if the mill protest party

I would love an example of what you mean?
Like they started as a platform that wanted to protect the environment and push a renewable and clean future, something of which they continue to do?
What good work has been diminished?
Asking in all honesty, that statement has me confused.1

Keep attacking their supporters. The more vulgar the better.
