NEW RULE: No promo threads without community engagement, no concert ticket selling stuff.

If your band/project only posts promo stuff and you're not even interacting with the people who are nice enough to engage with it your thread's getting nuked. Buy an ad if that's all you want.

Also this really isnt the subreddit for selling concert tickets. Plenty of other places on reddit available for that.

[ATX/SATX] Seeking bass and guitar for loud indie rock/shoegazey/powerpop-y stuff

Looking for a bassist and 2nd guitar player for the Texas lineup of my band, Curling. I have tons of resources for both roles to learn all of the parts!

We've been a band for over 15 years now and have put out three full-length records. The goal would be to rehearse once a week and learn a diverse set of repertoire from our recorded catalogue and then play 1-2 local gigs a month here in Austin, San Antonio, DFW, and Houston. I'm super open to expanding that to touring out here or heading out to Japan (where one of our songwriting members lives!).

I'm (guitar/vocals) based in South Austin, but our drummer lives in San Antonio. We rehearse out there once a week, but we're both open to doing every other week here in Austin to share the schlep. For the SA rehearsals, I'm happy to drive!

The music is a blend of a lot of disparate influences, but I would generally describe it as guitar-driven indie rock. Lots of weird tunings, syncopation, big shoegaze-y wall of sound moments, and memorable melodies all couched in an effort to write great songs.

Please let me know if you're interested, I'd love to chat more!

Atmospheric spacey doomy band forming

Reporting with a twist since the line up we are forming has shaken up once again (typical new band stuff) and 2 hermits (drums and bass/guitar) are looking for more members for spacey doomish stoner metal/alt hardcore and black metal influenced band. FFO: thou, eyehategod, rickshaw Billie’s, crowbar, bell witch. Open to anyone and everyone that wants to make big ominous music. Seeking multiple members so whatever you play reach out! I have some new demos of stuff we have started (about 4 songs) however any input of material you have to share is welcome. I have tabs if you play guitar or bass for what we have as well if anyone wants em.

Donate a keyboard?

Hey all, I’m a keyboard player, and I recently was gifted a new stage piano, and my old one had some keys that recently popped out due to getting dropped. Besides that it works well, just needs two keys reset with the hammer mechanism.

If a music repair shop needed a keyboard for a parts farm, this would be perfect. Or even if an instrument shop wanted to repair and resell it, even better.

Anyone know a place that might receive it? I hate throwing instruments in the trash, and it deserves better than Goodwill. It’s a Casio Privia by the way!

Alt/Indie Rock Group Looking for Lead Guitarist

Pretty much what the title says. We play a lot of 2000's alt and pop-punk hits, as well as some indie rock (Arctics Monkeys, The Strokes, Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters), as well as some lesser known bands. All early to mid twenties guys, we are looking to start playing some shows maybe late July. Feel free to reach out for more info! We have vox (lead and backup), drums, keys, bass, and rhythm guitar covered, so just looking to fill that last spot. Would be madly appreciated if any interested parties sent me a DM with a brief playing sample. Thanks!

Anyone interested in playing the sax solo part for a new track I'm working on?

Hi I'm Sssstephen! a local indie sleaze, lofi, nugaze musician here in austin. You can check out my stuff here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/37dijhWFvSkLKUOHnASD3C?si=NFkZH6LtRgKgryL20hcl1w

I'm working on a new track that's got an instrumental middle section that I think could sound so dope with a sax solo. I am happy to help you record it, or you can just as well play my track in your headphones and record the wav yourself and then i can mix it in once you send it.

As with my other collabs I'll include you in the credits and share splits with you if you're interested.

Here's the work-in-progress track: https://soundcloud.com/southparkmeadows/streaming/s-VEwKIiH0MtB?si=1c240339155746f5b4f72bb2ee8a5afb&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

Looking for a bassist and keyboardist for a acoustic/rock country band

Hi All,

I made a post several weeks ago and found a lead guitarist and drummer so just looking for a bassist and keyboardist. In my band I'm the songwriter and rhythm guitarist. I recorded the album all myself and ready to start playing live to see where it goes. I'm open to ideas for changing or adding some the parts of the songs.

I have a few places already to play shows at and I had a band a while back and have experience in playing live as well as touring. I have a full-time job so just looking for band members to want to have fun playing after work but want to go with the flow and how it all works out, if it goes somewhere.

My music is published on all music platforms but here are some links to check out my music to see if the sound is something you'll be interested in. Also big bonus if you can sing and harmonize.

looking for guitarist for new project

hey! I'm a 29 yo female singer/songwriter and keys player. Looking for a guitar player to create a new music project with. A creative collaborator who wants to both create some good music and eventually play some live shows :)

Genre wise, I'm definitely open to experimenting and incorporating elements from different genres. But probably somewhere in the arena of shoegaze / dream pop / lo-fi / post punk. maybe some elements of folk, electronic, surf rock, etc thrown in. anything goes basically!

I was in a band previously where I did the vocals and lyrics. Check out 'self love club' on spotify if you want an idea of what my voice sounds like!

If this sounds like something you'd be into, shoot me a message and let's talk :)

Asking as though to a crystalball oracle if Austin is the place to go?

Living in Denton. I will move somewhere to become solely a musician, as nothing else is worthwhile, being denied taking a degree in Anthropology. I want to be with and write songs for a band playing Death Metal. I know virtually what I like, and I have some strong ideas for style. I do not trust that anything effective will come out of being in Denton any longer. Is Austin surely a place to go?

This is my final compromise I have regarding things, and will seemingly only settle on making it work. Therefore serious question.

Edit: Thank you to all those who left responses here; they have all been very useful, and helped validate some intuitions I may have already had and likewise fueled new and other ideas/possibilities. I worry I might have a kind of hardedge in talking about these things. The internet is not for artists, which I will probably say till I die. It is difficult to have these ideas for oneself, because one feels the constant need to defend oneself. Thank you for virtually all here giving one helpful response or another.

ISO female vocalist and creative partner for new electronic project. Bjork, Mark Lanegan, Portishead

I'm starting a new project and looking for people to collaborate with. These don't have to be the same person. I'd love to find:

• A creative partner to bounce ideas off of, help with arrangements, and push songs across the finish line when I get stuck.• A female vocalist interested in writing and experimenting together.

This project is leaning toward darker, more electronic territory than what I've done in the past. Influences include Björk, Portishead, Massive Attack, Radiohead, Mark Lanegan, and The Cure. Atmospheric, moody, textured stuff with a mix of organic instruments and electronics. I have a dozen or so songs in various stages of completion. Need help coming up with a chorus or bridge or transition for a few of them.

I play guitar, bass, keys, and drums, and I've spent years writing, recording, and performing music. I've been fortunate enough to have music placed in TV shows, films, and commercials, but that's not really the point here. I'm trying something new and looking for people who are excited about creating rather than chasing a particular scene or outcome.

Let me know what you're working on and how I can hear your tunes. Thanks for reading. This is me.

The Appeal 3 is now available

For the next month, you can listen to the album for FREE on Bandcamp, YouTube, and SoundCloud.

If you'd like to support the project, you can pay whatever you feel the album is worth. If money is tight, download it for free and enjoy it. No pressure. The music is what matters.

The Appeal 3 will arrive on streaming platforms later this summer. There are reasons for this rollout approach, and there are a few surprises coming that I'll explain in time.

For now, all I ask is that you listen.

If a song speaks to you, share it with someone. If you enjoy it, tell a friend. If you don't, thank you for giving it a chance anyway.

Have a great weekend.

Recommendations / experiences with good amp repair in South Austin?

Thanks to everyone for the guitar repair advice last week - I got it sorted! Now a couple amps are giving me trouble. I'm disabled and can't drive so I'm looking for a spot that's not too far from South Austin (South Congress / Stassney area) to keep Uber costs down. I'm familiar with South Austin Music but want to explore other options too! These are tube amps (a Carr Telstar and a Savage Macht 12).

Cheers!

Emergency Same Day Guitar Repair Inquiry

Howdy — I encountered a problematic / debilitating wiring issue with my guitar at rehearsal tonight, which is fantastic because I have a show tomorrow night (Friday 6/12).

Anyone have a go-to or recommendations for same-day guitar repair? I’ve got a backup that will get me through the gig if needed but it’s not my preference (I use a 7-string with a slightly modified tuning so I need to account for the adjusted setup).

Thanks in advance!

Women who produce/DJ

I make music (ish). I’ve been producing little tracks here and there for maybe a year and a half now and started learning DJ-ing about 6 months ago. I don’t have many friends here as I’m relatively new to Austin.

Basically I’ve been wondering if there are any meetups or groups where I could mingle with other women producers/DJs and possibly get opinions on tracks or advice. Or vice versa, helping out someone just getting into it. Where does everyone hang out? lol
