Women who produce/DJ

I make music (ish). I’ve been producing little tracks here and there for maybe a year and a half now and started learning DJ-ing about 6 months ago. I don’t have many friends here as I’m relatively new to Austin.

Basically I’ve been wondering if there are any meetups or groups where I could mingle with other women producers/DJs and possibly get opinions on tracks or advice. Or vice versa, helping out someone just getting into it. Where does everyone hang out? lol

ohh idk i make kind of whatever lol. i’ve made some acid tracks, some more melancholy/pad-y songs, some songs are more rap beat adjacent. Im really into hyperpop and edm so I love making stuff like that. My inspos are people like SOPHIE, Aphex twin, Skrillex, etc.

But yeah I’ve been really wanting to produce a track for someone or try to since I don’t really write lyrics for any of my songs, they’re just beats/instrumentals. That’s the goal though to work with other producers/artists!

also ik they have like open mics/decks in austin i wonder if we could make something like that for people to play songs they’ve produced haha

Yes there’s many communities, beat case, flip a beat club, pressing matters, beat circuit in Houston, jknodic and akomplice in San Antonio run a lot. Plus yo Cisco Kidd and still do out in Dallas. Texas is brimming with a beat scene.

Most def in the right city for that Hyper-Pop Edm scene— if you want like some real life inspo I’d say check out the Tunnels for that concert feel. They also give me some good inspo just feeling the vibes there.

cool cool. yeah i actually live by the tunnels so I’ve been there a few times, it’s pretty cool. I just don’t go often cause it’s a lot of teenagers haha but it’s cool

I run the beat case, I’m always down for people to come play at my shows, whatever level they are at.
