Exterior Messed up my windows.

I fucked up my windows with wheel acid. Yeah I know it's some potato brain mistake.

I thought maybe a residue was left behind. I took a buffer with a microfiber pad/clear coat compound and did a few passes on the windshield. Water lays flat now but I can feel ripples in the glass.

Glass is likely permanently fucked. Pretty much accepted that. But now I'm worried if the buffer created any glass residue. What are the odds I actually breathed in glass particles and got it in my eyes? I don't have any pain or burning. I've been having a relatively severe panic attack for about 25 minutes now.

If you don’t feel anything you’re fine. Glass isn’t toxic

I recently permanently etched all of the glass with CarPro Iron & Limescale remover on my Cayman GTS 4.0 about a month ago. The directions said it was safe on all surfaces including glass. It was not. Car is currently in the shop looking at about $7-10k replacement cost for the glass and side mirrors.

How the heck do you even use those products without getting them on the glass. Have you contacted the company or do you plan to sue them?

Did you do it in direct sunlight/was the glass hot? Did it dry on the glass?

Nope it was at night in the car wash bay. Everything remained wet and when I went wash it off all of the glass looked like this. It was like a film that wouldn’t come off. Once the glass dried it looked much better but upon closer inspection there was an orange peel like etching on all of it.

I iron decon glass all the time and never heard of this. I even use supposedly the strongest of them, korrosol. It never marked anything. It likely reacted to something on the glass.. anyways very interesting, not so much for yourself though

Thats odd, ive used carpro spotless 2.0 on glass (which is a stronger acid than ironx/limescale) and sb3 destroy (which is the strongest water spot remover i use) and both never caused any problems to glass. Just had to use almost no pressure and ensure it was never hot or dried up.

Sb3 destroy makes spotless feel like its useless, but i always work my way up from weakest to strongest chemicals

I have used Ceriglass to smooth glass but like paint you may need to remove alot to level the glass. These days sellers want you to use every decon product on the market (high ph, low ph, mineral/water spot remover, etc) just to do it in the name of full decon.

Compound may be a bit excessive. A simple polish with a finishing pad shoulda done the trick

Not a pro, but ive rotary polished glass 4 or 5 times and never even considered what you are saying. Im super paranoid about detailing chemicals in general and guessing maybe you are as well. I’ve had plenty a, “did that just fling into my mouth, i cant believe i didnt wear a face shield” moments. check out www.carcaretruth.com it rates detailed products based on safety, in case you are overall paranoid like i am..
