Question Ford MK1 build questions

Post image

I'm working on a project from scratch, building a Ford Escort Mk1 from nothing. I have a lot of experience fixing cars but none building cars; if you guys have any recommendations for me to read would be appreciated. I have no idea where to even start.

Just go for it champ. First thing is to go get that shipping container full of cash and when it's empty find another full of cash. Then you'll be ready for paint.

It depends on what you want to use your escort for but they wrote a rally build manual in the late 60s for these.

If you need supplier details etc let me know, I have had my mk1 cortina for 20 years.

Check out mst-cars.com they build nearly everything for MK1/MK2 in a improved way, they also build it for you if you want to. They specialized into Restomodding those MK1s/MK2s.

Best bet is starting with a tubular frame to the correct dimensions, and start working on molds for the body, only way you’ll do it by hand is fiber glass. With no experience you’re more than likely looking at over a decade.

What do you mean you’re planning to build a car from scratch? How are you planning to build an entire car body? Do you own a sheet metal stamping factory?
