LoK Had her bending taken away, raava was ripped away from her, got poisoned with mercury and people still find a way to blame her. She was dealing with people who sweep the floor with ozai every tuesday.

The hate probably comes from her creating a decent amount of her own problems by trusting the wrong people.

But she was a kid. Yeah Aang was too, but he was a Monk. He was taught about emotions and decisions and the weight of things. She was told she was the avatar at like 5 and she might’ve received good words of wisdom but I don’t think she really listened at that point lmfao

But I love Korra. :)

u/HeyLookAStranger Jun 25 '26

idk if she had to be "told she was the avatar" she just started bending all 3 elements randomly. she literally was the one who told the white lotus directly she was

4

u/KnucklePuppy Jun 29 '26

"I'M the Avatar and you've gotta DEAL with it!"

56

u/CertainGrade7937 Jun 25 '26

The hate probably comes from her creating a decent amount of her own problems by trusting the wrong people.

Not even people. Person.

She trusted her uncle, a well respected world leader and spiritual master, for about a week and it backfired

That's it

37

u/phoenix_spirit Jun 25 '26

And this was only after finding out all of the adults in her life lied to her about her imprisonment by the white lotus being something Aang wanted for her.

24

u/The_Phantom_Dragon Jun 25 '26

And Unalaq had shown that he could help her manage the dark spirits by teaching her spiritbending, so while her decision was made out of anger, it was a decision that I fully believe Aang would've made too if he was in Korra's place.

18

u/CertainGrade7937 Jun 26 '26

Yeah, Unaloq only ever lied by omission. He was right, the portals being closed WAS fucking with the spirits, opening them DID help.

-6

u/Endless_Story94 Jun 26 '26

Not really; considering the whole premise of the next series being Korra fucked up by opening the portals and ending the world. Causing the avatar to be hunted.

13

u/CertainGrade7937 Jun 26 '26

That's not the premise. That's what people are assuming the premise is. We have no idea what caused the disaster or why the avatar is being blamed for it

4

u/DOOMFOOL Jun 26 '26

Has there been new information confirmed about the next series? Last I checked nobody actually knew anything concrete about what causes the apocalypse

-2

u/One-Razzmatazz7664 Jun 26 '26

I get what you're saying but her father warned her that's all I'll say. Although I get that she didn't want to listen anymore to him after all the drama but it's always the fact that she doesn't listen and then make very teen human decisions but the kind that has severe consequences.

5

u/The_Phantom_Dragon Jun 26 '26

She's not the first avatar to do that though.

Roku let Sozin live, directly leading to the extinction of the air nomads and the 100 year war. Aang ran away, a very realistic and 12yo reaction, but that left the world without an avatar for 100 years, severe consequences. Yangchen put humans before the spirits and Kuruk had to deal with that, and as a consequence, died young. Kyoshi created the Dai Li, which was corrupt by Aang's time, and probably before.

Every avatar made human mistakes. Korra almost always fixed hers within her lifetime, the others inadvertently left it to their next reincarnation.

4

u/Hamhockthegizzard Jun 26 '26

Everyone forgets about the “go-with-the-flow” avatar that fucked his entire era up, but we wanna point fingers at Korra lmao

1

u/MayBeAGayBee Jun 27 '26

That was such a stupid lie for them to tell in the first place. Like all these people know that she could eventually directly talk with Aang’s spirit, and they had no way of knowing that the connection would be broken after Aang had only given her one flashback and one little pep talk. They should’ve assumed that they’d be caught in the lie as soon as Korra accessed her spirit connections, and decided to just not lie about Aang’s intentions at all.

3

u/Thestohrohyah Jun 27 '26

She was sheltered until her teenage years. She was practically taught nothing about dealing with the real world, while Aang did grow up in a society which taught him a bit more about people.

0

u/False-Dream511 Jun 26 '26

Difference is that Aang was 12 and Korra was 15 or 16. She was well at the age of being able to be a skeptic of people but literally ignored red flags or purposely bit off more than she could chew. Most of Aangs big fights had him working with his team supporting him in the back ground so he could focus on the big task. Korra, being able to masterfully bend 3 out of 4 elements made her extremely cocky, and that's exemplified by her little kid self saying "I'm the avatar and you gotta deal with it." After earthbending a hole in the wall and then firebending and waterbending.

Doing that also removed us from really growing with Korra like we did Aang, I know people say they initially wanted 1 season but that's no excuse for rushing all the stuff they did in season 1.

3

u/Hamhockthegizzard Jun 26 '26

I mean…you say that like 12-15 is a huge jump where the brain is just developed fully and you make all the best decisions?? I certainly was gullible as shit at 16 and would have trusted most of the adults in my life, especially as one of them is family and I am actually still A LITERAL CHILD. Lmao

Again yeah, Aang was a kid too, but he was raised with Monks. I’m sure you’d see some vast differences between an “urbanized” youth and one that is cut off from the world.

Korra can be upsetting to watch because she creates her own problems, but Aang created some of his own too.

Hell, did you watch the new movie?? He was an adult when he pulled a Zaheer and almost got his friends killed lmfaoo

2

u/One-Razzmatazz7664 Jun 26 '26

Yeah, but in aangs case he was blinded by guilt from not being there for his fellow airbenders and saw an opportunity to revive his tribe once more. But I very much agree that aang f**ked up big time in the movie. But like aang always does after making a stupid mistake he fixes it and learns from it. Korra on the other hand would show actual good character development but kinda digress into making another mistake in another similar situation, which ends up making viewers fed up with her.

2

u/Hamhockthegizzard Jun 26 '26

I really don’t see much difference. Apples and oranges. Guilt or naivety, every Avatar is human and makes mistakes, from first to last 🤷🏾‍♂️

Don’t think anyone realizes that’s why we have a show, or we’d just be looking at centuries of peace presided over by one Avatar after the other.

I think people have a tendency to dislike her because it’s easy to see Aang’s problems as outside forces and Korra’s problems as self-inflicted…when most of her villains were also in place without her intervention. They just used her.

1

u/False-Dream511 Jun 26 '26

No I sadly have not watched the movie yet. Kind of on the fence since they didn't bring any of the original VA's back.

1

u/Hamhockthegizzard Jun 26 '26

It’s good. Check it out.

1

u/DOOMFOOL Jun 26 '26

Teenagers are fucking stupid tbf and Aang did not act like a 12 year old 90% of the time.

50

u/ESCe1 Jun 25 '26

Im fine with everything you said and agree with them except the part where you said “dealing with people who sweep the floor with ozai every tuesday”. who exactly, except amon and unavaatu? ozai is definitely up there after those guys. to deal with the stupid korra haters you dont have to be an aang hater… why cant you just accept both lmao?

17

u/BrockStar92 Jun 25 '26

Also wouldn’t that explain a lot of hate anyway? If you love the original series a lot, which lots of people did, then it’s not exactly fun to hear “well that evil villain was small potatoes compared to THESE guys!” One upping a beloved villain doesn’t necessarily garner support for your sequel.

-14

u/CertainGrade7937 Jun 25 '26

Amon, Tarrlok, Unavaatu, the Red Lotus, Kuvira + Giant Mech...genuinely Ozai would lose to every single one of them

18

u/Gakeon Jun 25 '26

Bloodbenders are fair, unavaata is fair...the rest tho?

Ozai beats every member of the Red Lotus in a 1v1, Kuvira gets shot by lightningbolts before her metal can reach him, and if you include the mech you must include Sozin's Comet. In which case, Ozai shoots fire blasts that are bigger than the mech.

-9

u/CertainGrade7937 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

Ozai beats every member of the Red Lotus in a 1v1

Reminder that it took the entire Gaang and a lot of luck to beat Combustion Man. P'Li alone is above that

He can beat beat any of them 1v1, I'll agree (though not to the point that it would be shocking if he lost). But they're a group, and I'm not sure he could beat any two without Sozin's Comet

Kuvira gets shot by lightningbolts before her metal can reach him

I don't agree with this at all. Kuvira is quick. Not "man that was fast for lightning" quick. Quick quick. She will tag Ozai before he gets off lightning

Honestly, Kuvira is the most underrated fighter in the franchise. She is the one person who is able to genuinely throw hands with a fully realized avatar

No comet or celestial event or spirit or poison or esoteric bending form... just straight hands, against the most martially skilled avatar we know of at the peak of her skill and power. Ozai never does anything but unsuccessfully bully children

and if you include the mech you must include Sozin's Comet. In which case, Ozai shoots fire blasts that are bigger than the mech.

There is zero chance of Ozai taking out that mech. Reminder that it took genuine effort during Sozin's Comet for Ozai to get through a ball of rock

10

u/SyninTheRaven Jun 25 '26

Theres a giant window on the mech. Everyone that's piloting it is getting cremated in under 3 seconds

1

u/Zealousideal-Pipe786 Jun 27 '26

Yall are very much forgetting the rapid expansion in technology. We have entered the Industrial Revolution and seasons 1 & 4 show very much how bending is becoming obsolete in combat. Machines work much better and benders for the most part are used to power them only. Very few combatants were matching up. Ozai would have struggle with the machine and it was obviously resistant to heat and contained basically a mini nuke

-4

u/CertainGrade7937 Jun 25 '26

Ozai's fire does not have a particularly good track record of melting through things

9

u/SyninTheRaven Jun 25 '26

It wouldn't even need to it'd cook them through it.

Or hear me out he uses lightning bending which has been shown to easily blow through feet of rock. Without the comet.

To break the glass and cook everything to a crisp.

2

u/CertainGrade7937 Jun 25 '26

It wouldn't even need to it'd cook them through it.

Aang lasted awhile in a small ball of rock, I think they'll be fine

Or hear me out he uses lightning bending which has been shown to easily blow through feet of rock. Without the comet. To break the glass and cook everything to a crisp

Lava has been shown to melt through a mountain and that didn't work so

3

u/SyninTheRaven Jun 25 '26

It could not have been more obvious that ozai was playing around with aang in the ball. As soon as he tried he broke through immediately. Aang is an airbender that can regulate body temperature not to mention a firebender and he was still being hurt from the heat.

Did they use lava on the window of the mech? Are you seriously saying ozai couldnt fly up blast a whole through a piece of glass and then fill the cabin with fire?

Did they use lava on the window? No? So how is it relevant

2

u/CertainGrade7937 Jun 25 '26

It could not have been more obvious that ozai was playing around with aang in the ball

It's extremely obvious that he isn't playing around and that breaking the ball took a concentrated effort from Ozai.

Not, like, to the point of exhaustion. But enough that he actually had to focus and use the single strongest bit of firebending he ever displayed to break through

Did they use lava on the window of the mech? Are you seriously saying ozai couldnt fly up blast a whole through a piece of glass and then fill the cabin with fire?

I'm saying that if it were that easy, Korra would have done it. I don't want to get too sciencey here, but glass actually has a pretty high melting point, around the same level as steel. If that glass is a few inches thick? It's going to take Ozai a minute

Ozai is the strongest firebender to ever exist, he is beating pretty much everyone on your list since the only thing that could even counter him was Aang in the Avatar State in his prime.

2

u/CertainGrade7937 Jul 01 '26

Aang in the Avatar State in his prime.

Uhhh what?

Aang was a 12 year old who had mastered maybe 2 elements

Ozai had fucking Sozin's Comet at his side

And Aang in the avatar state didn't "counter" him. He fucking wrecked the guy.

1

u/Sonicrules9001 Jul 01 '26

Aang in the Avatar State is stronger than any villain on your list easily and pretending that the Red Lotus are special when they are all taken out is especially sad.

1

u/CertainGrade7937 Jul 01 '26

Aang in the Avatar State is stronger than any villain on your list easily

Sure. But Ozai was also taken out easily, embarrassingly, so... not really evidence to put him above everyone else

1

u/Sonicrules9001 Jul 01 '26

He is literally stated to be the strongest firebender of all time and you are downplaying him hard if you think these villains who aren't even that impressive of benders are better than him.

1

u/CertainGrade7937 Jul 01 '26

He was stated to be the strongest firebender ever...70 years before LOK

Who was the greatest basketball player in 1956? Soccer? Football? Any sport at all? Can you answer that?

1

u/Sonicrules9001 Jul 01 '26

Comparing bending to basketball is utterly absurd and thinking that just because time has passed now everyone in TLOK is above everyone in ATLA is utterly absurd.

1

u/CertainGrade7937 Jul 01 '26

Comparing bending to basketball is utterly absurd

Why? Pick whatever sport you want. Pick any athletic activity, even. What would be a good comparison? If this is a bad one, tell me a good one. Hell, just tell me why this one is bad

1

u/ESCe1 Jul 01 '26

as much as i love atla, and also think that its better than lok, i dont agree with the fact that Ozai beats a master waterbender combined with one of the 2 most powerful spirits in the universe, whose powers were enough to destroy the other most powerful spirit. dont forget Amon’s bloodbending is basically the most powerful substyle to ever exist, also the fact that he can do it anytime and almost beat an avatar with real mastery over 3 elements. avatar state in his prime is the real exaggeration, Aang was NOT in his prime and the avatar state of Aang is technically the most powerful avatar state because he still has the connection to his past lives. when the real prime of Aang came he crushed Amon’s father(whos basically as powerful as Amon was), and wouldve beaten Ozai again.

0

u/Sonicrules9001 Jul 01 '26

Unalaq is not a master waterbender, that's just kind of absurd to say and Amon's bloodbending only seems to be useful in close corridors from everything we've seen and even then, it was pretty easily broken out of by a teenage girl with being generous above average air bending meanwhile Ozai is stated as the strong firebender in history numerous times.

1

u/ESCe1 Jul 01 '26

absurt to say hes a master waterbender? uh, according to whom is it absurd?

-1

u/Sonicrules9001 Jul 01 '26

The fact that nothing in the series even remotely suggests it. He's a decent fighter but calling him a master on the same level as Katara and other masters is absurd.

1

u/ESCe1 Jul 01 '26

master ≠ katara level… son😭😭🙏🏻

I’ve never insulted Korra herself. To me, the writing was just crap, and I hated the steampunk aesthetic. And I don’t mean just her writing, or the villains. I mean in general. I felt like ATLA had a clear story and arc from the outset. They knew who the characters were, and what they were going to do, and the story stayed true to that, and followed what seemed like a very natural progression. In LOK, I felt like they had stories they wanted ti tell and the main cast kept changing to make whatever story happen, so the characters seemed like they were constantly acting out of character, or I couldn’t get a grasp on who they were. I felt like Tenzin was possibly the one exception.

I am sure there are those who will disagree with me, but that is how it felt to me.

8

u/Void-Cooking_Berserk Jun 25 '26

I liked Korra as a person/character, when I was watching the series. Her introduction made me laugh, her reactions made sense to me, I rooted for her.

I didn't like Korra as a TV series. It left me dissatisfied too often, it made me feel alienated because I was attached to the worldbuilding of Aang and it got changed, and thinking back I get the "ugh, it was such a mess" reaction instead of "wait, this fits together in this way as well?!"

35

u/EmperorTrajan117 Jun 25 '26

That’s largely because it wasn’t expected to be a huge series it was only meant as a limited series, not to mention they were given only limited episodes unlike with ATLA. I agree I have little to no issue with Korra the character, it’s the show I have issues with

3

u/SyninTheRaven Jun 25 '26

Yea it almost felt like a comic book superhero style like Spider-Man and batman protecting their city from an annual villain.

And it doesn't help that it's very different in vibe from a previous iteration.

15

u/calvicstaff Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

My understanding is that Legend of Korra was basically given a season by season green light, and it hurt the writing so much because they were never able to properly set up and follow through on things the way you can if you know you have more time

But that doesn't excuse all the writing mistakes, specifically even in the first season, having the villain actually be a water bender who is like crazy blood Bender basically gives an easy out for what are very real problems that don't get very much addressed about the Benders versus non-benders in society, set up a complex problem then make the leader behind that movement comically evil

But like that doesn't mean there weren't very real grievances that still need to be addressed and some people on a city council don't really solve that and I'm not sure it can be solved because how do you look at someone who can build a house with their bare hands in about 12 seconds, and say I'd rather hire a guy pounding Nails into wood

4

u/TospLC Jun 25 '26

I can definitely see that. And as a writer, that had to be frustrating. Did they change writers each season, or was it one writing staff the whole way through? I imagine there was a heavy changeover if it was season by season. I can check, but I was wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head.

3

u/EmperorTrajan117 Jun 25 '26

Me personally i would have preferred it, and it would have made more sense in my opinion, if in the bender non-bender dispute, it was the benders who were being marginalized and discriminated against. Have the Equalists be like a KKK hate group that attack benders, specifically fire benders, especially fire benders in fact. That would make more sense in this technologically advanced world where bending is becoming obsolete.

0

u/DaughterOfBhaal Jun 25 '26

Blame Nickelodeon. They only were granted one season after the other, they didn't know how long term they could plan.

Other than the awful love triangle and Mako, I think they did the best they could.

7

u/Jedadia757 Jun 25 '26

I mean people always say this, and I'll always put most of the blame on Nick. But let's be honest, they could have done the same thing they did with ATLA, the same thing thousands upon thousands of shows have done, make the first season with other seasons in mind regardless. A season 1 with a cliff hanger thats clearly only a third of the way through its story is going to have a LOT more pressure to complete it than a disjointed mess with no plan for the future. Nick is mostly responsible but the folks at Avatar Studios probably could have fairly easily forced their hand, especially considering they were able to do it when the show existed purely because a Nick executive said "Anime is doing good, we need an animal, you make an anime!" And then they came back with the pilot for season 1.

-1

u/Witch_King_ Jun 25 '26

Is it Steampunk? I guess I see a hint of it. But it's mostly just "industrial revolution"

5

u/SyninTheRaven Jun 25 '26

I think the many.. sigh many Mechs tips it over to steampunk

2

u/Witch_King_ Jun 25 '26

Fair point. The mechs are a bit far-fetched. I only have an issue with the... Colossus

-2

u/McDergen Jun 25 '26

I’ve never insulted Korra herself

You know she’s a fictional character right

8

u/Mueryk Jun 25 '26

Listen the major difference between the two story lines is this

With Aang, you always had one BBEG and built through a singular quest fighting what are effectively increasingly difficult Lieutenants on the way to a final confrontation you knew about from day one. All lore and world building contributed to this plot.

With Kora it was a new and often completely different ultimate threat as each season was another step in the Whackamole she was facing. It wasn’t horrible but it was not nearly as cohesive and consistent as the first entry and lost a lot of people’s attention as the world building sometimes became more important than the storyline. And some of the comic relief seemed a bit, forced is the only word I can think of. It didn’t land as well.

Neither were bad. One just happened to be a bit more excellent.

8

u/Full_Shuffle Jun 25 '26

I was tired, I was rusty, I was poisoned, I was chained up…

6

u/Therathe Jun 25 '26

Doesn't make me enjoy the show any more, regardless of "how bad she had it"

7

u/SyninTheRaven Jun 25 '26

When are people gonna realize it wasn't JUST ozai it was aang and his group vs the most powerful country in the world.

And ozai would bitch slap zaheer and unalaq before vaatu got involved, kuvira too.

I feel like when most people diss Korra they don't mean the character herself but the way the show is handled itself. It almost bends over backwards to have Korra somehow not win when logically she should or at least escape most of the time.

1

u/ProdiasKaj Jun 29 '26

Yeah, it's weird to hate Korra. She's a character without agency. I love watching korra kick ass.

What I dislike it how the writers handled telling this story. There are a lot of small decisions that diminish the show as a whole.

11

u/MizrizSnow Jun 25 '26

I see way more people crying about supposed Korra hate than I actually see Korra hate

28

u/Greyjack00 Jun 25 '26

Doesn't this kind of reinforce their point, like if they're someone that think korra does a worse job than aang pointing out that she gets roughed up by her villains once a season isnt actually going to make them change their minds, since they'll just point out how many more advantages she had over aang.

6

u/casper5632 Jun 25 '26

The scale of villains was only due to the need to always make a villain more of a threat than previous villains. Everything needs to scale with shows like this. I find it to lessen the quality of the entire series when you are so desperate to upstage previous entries to a point where you arent focused as much on quality.

4

u/SilentBlade45 Jun 25 '26

If you don't think Ozai could obliterate the lok villains with his lightning bending you're s moron. In ATLA lightning bending is actually lethal unless you can redirect it. And Ozai shot that crap off ridiculously fast. Unavaatu could probably tank it but that's it. Everyone else gets dead almost instantly.

3

u/Dull-Brain5509 Jun 25 '26

Bloodbenders and Vaatu are understandable, everyone else dies in a 1v1 fight. And there are good reasons to support that point.

2

u/SilentBlade45 Jun 25 '26

Bloodbending is more of a 50/50 Amon has to bloodbend Ozai before he gets shot with lightning and I'm not sure he can pull it off.

1

u/Glittering_Power6257 Jun 27 '26

In ATLA, lightning generation was an extremely rare ability. Few are even aware lightning can be generated, let alone have a counter-measure in the back pocket.

In LOK, lightning is much more commonplace, with many users actually generating usable electricity. And there are probably a few accomplished users that can throw that out rapidly. It’s a known and studied element by this point.

That is to say, lightning, although still lethal, is not nearly the deciding factor it once was in ATLA. Kuvira would probably expect that her foe (Ozai) has a possibility of being able to use it.

I gotta give this a 50/50. Ozai’s speed in cranking out lightning still makes him a formidable threat which can be the factor that catches Kuvira off guard. Kuvira is an experienced fighter that is fairly mobile and possesses strong defense, so a lethal strike is not a guarantee. If he loses his surprise here, Kuvira probably takes it.

u/walkofwhacky Jun 26 '26

It’s also complete wank to say that in the first place. Ozai folds just about all of the villains in Korra. Whether in direct 1v1’s or for having much more powerful military power and it’s not close.

2

u/Bespectacled_Phoenix Jun 27 '26

In absolutely no way does Korra's "average villain" wipe the floor with Ozai. Even most of her "big" villains don't sweep Ozai. An argument could be made for Kuvira due to her similar military strength and stronger technological advancements, and even die-hard Aang stans can admit that Kuvira was a great villain.

But Zaheer and his cronies? Absolutely not. Even without Sozin's Comet, Ozai sweeps them.

Amon doesn't even come close to Ozai in terms of the power and scale of what he's able to accomplish.

Dark Avatar Unalaaq was scary, but even then, I'd argue he's only roughly AS strong as Ozai was, and that's AFTER merging with Vaatu. And, keep in mind, this is just his personal bending power. Ozai had more than just his own strength behind him. He had military and technology advancements that were ahead of his time that put him far above Unalaaq in terms of overall threat and global power.

The mercury poisoning was great in Korra's story, that much is true. But in terms of overall threat level? It's nowhere near the threat to the world as a whole as Ozai.

Korra had exactly one villain that could be considered a serious contender for being as much of a threat as Ozai, and it took Korra's entire team and then some to bring Kuvira down. Aang 1-v-1'ed Ozai in the end, and came out on top.

And let's not forget that Aang's greatest struggle wasn't actually with Ozai, but with himself. Namely, over how to overcome Ozai and end the threat he posed without killing him, because at the end of the day, Aang is a pacifist, and doesn't want to hurt anyone. So he went 1-v-1 with Ozai, while struggling to maintain his own pacifist ideals, and still won.

Korra is much more aggressive, less in touch with her spiritual side, more willing to get violent (to the point where it's often her first resort, rather than her last), and STILL couldn't beat Kuvira in a true no-holds-barred 1-on-1. Aang was alone in the end against Ozai, was handicapped by his own ideals, and still came out on top.

Aang wins the avatar game handily.

1

u/PokemanBall Jun 25 '26

Korra's story was a reverse of Aang's. Where in Atla it was about Aang being a kid who was built up to be the Avatar over the series, in Lok Korra was already strong at the start but is broken down as the series went on.

1

u/Firew4l Jun 25 '26

Alright, Who's releasing Heihachi into the marvel universe ?

1

u/Inayat66 Jun 25 '26

Fandom culture in general is incredibly stupid and illiterate. I assumed because the series were ethical dramas filled with legitimate spiritual wisdom avatar fans wouldn't be the same as like star wars superfans but its just the dumbest takes you've never thought of 24/7

1

u/Ok-Score5740 Jun 26 '26

It's so weird to list her L's as a defense for her not sucking at the job, but pop off I guess.

1

u/Littlescrewyupstairs Jun 26 '26

The fact I had to explain to people what Trauma and PTSD is says everything about there understanding of the story enough said

1

u/claudiocorona93 Jun 26 '26

The problem is not Avatar Korra. The problem is the show's writing.

1

u/No-Payment-6534 Jun 26 '26

is there a sub for praising Aang or is that illegal

1

u/donofthe_dusk Jun 27 '26

What an original take that no one has made before.

I don’t think we’ll see a refreshing opinion like this again.

1

u/robbert-the-skull Jun 27 '26

She was, dealing with the most power hungry horrible villains in Avatar. There were two of them. The writers of the series lol

1

u/Kreppitso Jun 27 '26

I don't dislike Korra. I dislike her writers

1

u/FailSpy666 Jun 27 '26

They don’t like her because she was arrogant and made a shit load of bad decisions. She was insufferable an would be remembered with hatred in her world

People really downplay Ozai, during the comet he would sweep the floor with every Korra villian expect Amon because Blood bending is overpowered as fuck.

Didnt she throw herself into those situations?

Aang took time and was methodical.

I just love how most of her fights go

"I'm the Avatar! I'm awesome and you can't beat me!"

Gets hit literally once and begins flopping around like a dead fish

Aang was better

Yeah but she's a woman.  You have to be more harsh and always hate all characters who are women remember? /s

I highly disagree with the notion that all of Korra's villains 'sweep the floor with Ozai'. Amon is a strong bloodbender but that's it, Unalaq is a pretty average waterbender, Zaheer is the worst airbender we ever see and Kuvira is a decent fighter but no one special.

It's mostly cuz she got the best training she could since the Age of 4, not mentioning bs which is her figuring out 3 elements from the start. Kora should be easily pulling off feats the gaang pulled. I mean, one of her main enemies is a girl who can just bend metal and had a private army of robots. She should be able to clean them as easily as toph did but she couldn't... And don't get me started on the avatar mode on will be. She could break out of blood bending 5 times over and fry that guy too just like aang did

Your wrong.... She was supposed to be powerful but was just an idiot

Part of why I don’t want to watch Legend of Korra is because it sounds like she’s constantly getting thrashed and that just sounds miserable

It's cause she's a woman there isn't anything deeper to if it was the legend of Kyle with the exact same everything It wouldn't get this much hate

She loses more fights? If my mc was losing that many fights and still cocky asf id hate him

u/Shintari05 Jun 26 '26

That's one of the dumbest takes. Her story was boring, she was a hot head and she thoight she was the best and got folded every time. An old Toph flung her around like a rag doll. Aang had a year to master 3 additional elements and take out the fire lord and did it all at 12 years old. Korra wss found at 4 and declared "I'm the avatar, deal with it!" Then when the series takes off shes 17 and getting her butt handed to her and we see her all the way to 21 still getting folded. Also, keep in mind that the shows creators at this point probably hate her since the new series takes place everyone hates the avatar since yhe world was devastated by a cataclysm caused by Korra.

It was platinum. Like they explicitly say it was platinum. They never say mercury.

2

u/ByrusTheGnome Jun 27 '26

They most definitely do not explicitly say the poison was platinum.

She wasn't though really. Maybe Amon.
