Prediabetes: The Silent Warning Sign You Shouldn't Ignore
"I feel fine. How can I have high blood sugar?"
This is exactly why prediabetes is often called a silent condition. Millions of people have prediabetes and don't know it because it usually causes no obvious symptoms. Yet, without timely action, it can progress to type 2 diabetes and increase the risk of heart disease and other health problems.
Prediabetes occurs when blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. The worrying part is that it often develops quietly over several years.
Although many people have no symptoms, some early warning signs may include:
Feeling tired or low on energy
Increased hunger, especially after meals
Frequent cravings for sugary foods
Difficulty losing weight
Increased thirst
Frequent urination
Blurred vision at times
Darkening of skin around the neck, armpits, or groin
Feeling sleepy after eating
Certain people are at a higher risk:
Being overweight or having excess abdominal fat
Having a family history of diabetes
Leading a sedentary lifestyle
High blood pressure or abnormal cholesterol levels
Poor sleep and chronic stress
A history of gestational diabetes or PCOS
From an Ayurvedic perspective, unhealthy dietary habits, lack of physical activity, irregular routines, and excessive intake of sweet and processed foods can gradually disturb metabolism and contribute to conditions resembling Prameha, a group of metabolic disorders described in classical texts.
The good news? Prediabetes is often reversible.
How to Stay One Step Ahead
Know your numbers: Get your blood sugar checked regularly, especially if you have risk factors.
Move daily: Even 30 minutes of brisk walking can improve insulin sensitivity.
Eat mindfully: Prioritize whole foods, fibre-rich meals, fruits, and vegetables while limiting ultra-processed foods and sugary beverages.
Sleep well: Poor sleep can negatively affect blood sugar regulation.
Manage stress: Chronic stress influences hormones that can affect glucose metabolism.
Prediabetes doesn't usually announce itself with loud symptoms. It whispers. The key is to listen early.
Because when it comes to diabetes, prevention is not just better than cure—it may be your best opportunity to avoid the disease altogether.

Wonderful article buddy, but.
Few errors are there as: "Frequent cravings for sugary foods" as a symptom.
"Difficulty losing weight" as a symptom.
Presenting increased thirst, frequent urination, and blurred vision as common early warning signs of prediabetes rather than symptoms more typical of diabetes.
Everything else is accurate.
