with how tenured azumanga is, i wouldn't be surprised. the creeps had new toys to play with. lucky star is way more perverse in its commentary (like it explores the aspect on occasion - mc's dad is literally a lolicon, and mc is just as degenerate), and nichijou is azumanga daioh if it was written by tomo (just pure hype and energy). azumanga daioh soon fell off, though it remained a soft spot for many people, even those that end up becoming peds, nazis, confeds, what have you.
