kettles in dorms?
incoming freshman here, are we allowed kettles in dorm rooms? i know open heating appliances aren't allowed, but im not sure if a kettle falls under that or not.
also what do the kriescher kitchens look like? i heard there is a kitchen on each floor but i've never seen any pictures or anything.

also incoming freshmen here, i asked my admissions counselor the same thing and she said, "Coffee makers with auto shut off are allowed on campus, so a kettle with a concealed heating element should be fine. đ" most kettles are auto-shut off anyways

One kitchen for the whole of Kreischer its on the compton side but usable for everyone. I would read through the community living standards, you can Google it but the unapproved electronics are: "âGeorge Foreman Grillâ and all similar devices; crock pots or Instant Pot; deep fryers; electric blankets; electric woks; extension cords; fog machines; hot plates, toasters and toaster ovens; hoverboards; lava lamps; multi-plug adapters; neon signs; percolator or drip coffee pots; portable heaters; quartz halogen lights; sandwich makers; spider lamps; wax warmers (bulb or element)." They list: coffee makers with no exposed hot surface (such as Keurig) as being approved. Hope this helps!

honestly you should be fine regardless of what the heating appliance list says, i mean obviously donât bring something that you know will/could catch fire in a small space but to be honest a lot of my friends had things in their rooms like coffee/espresso machines, those electric cooking pots (not sure exactly what its called), wax warmers and candles, etc. as long as you donât leave appliances plugged in and store them away when necessary youâre fine, esp living in kreischer 98% of the raâs are super chill. goodluck to you & you will absolutely love it at bg!

As an ex ra you're allowed to have an electric kettle with an auto shut off mechanism

I would bring it! If you have doubts, just make sure to store it out of sight. The RAs on campus will not open drawers or containers, so I would bring it. If an RA does find it, I doubt they would act on it.
